I hiked the short (but somewhat steep) hike from downtown to the tower this past weekend. The cost to use the elevator was $7 per person. There is a really nice gift shop there where you buy your elevator token. The shop has lots of National Park t-shirts, posters, hats and other tourist type gifts. The view from the tower... More

During a family reunion, about 15 of us went to the tower. The person selling us tickets warned us that visibility was zero. But we went up anyway to see the historical placards. Stepping onto the viewing platforms during fog was surreal! I can't wait to go back during good visibility.

The drive to the tower was, well, an adventure in itself. Hairpin curves and narrow streets. But not, surprisingly, frightening. I'd hate to be driving in a motor home, though! The visitor center was full of typical souvenirs and non-traditional educational games. The view from the tower was magnificent. The open areas were closed the day we visited due to... More

We took a short drive up the mountain to get to the tower. Once we reached the top, we were able to see the entire city. The views were outstanding! It's a really great place to take pictures. Inside the tower,on the ground floor, there is a gift shop where we were able to purchase souvenirs. There is also a... More

We stumbled upon Hot Spring Mountain...literally! We had stopped driving to take a photo of a building in Hot Springs, when a government employee told us to drive up the mountain for the best view of the city. He was not wrong. The view is breathtaking. It provides a completely different view of this fun gem of a city. We... More

We went to the camp grounds and took the Gulpha Gorge Trail to the top of the east mountain. We walked a little ways to the two car pull outs to check out the views. We were there on a foggy morning and got some nice shots of mountain/hill tops sticking out of the fog.

This is a nice place to hike up to the tower and get some good pictures. The hikes are not long but it is a beautiful area. This is the part of the park that has some nature to it.

Very winding road up the mountain, take it slow. Enter the drive from the center of the city at the end of Central Ave., on to Fountain St. Maps are available at the NPS Visitor Center in the Fordyce Bathhouse. Lovely views from the top. You can also park and hike one of the trails.
