Loved the hiking. It was fairly easy hiking. Great fall colors! The trails were easily marked. The lake is very pretty. Saw a deer, grass snake and lizards.

This was a brief stop but well worth it. The hiking is not strenuous but the trails are picturesque and the park is well laid out and clean. Most of the camper sites sit on lake Catherine for easy access and I would think that...More

Very beautiful lake and park! Our main goal was to see the waterfall, which was available to view by boat or hiking trail. We chose to canoe there which started out beautifully! Followed the shoreline to the cove leading to the falls which became rather...More

Beautiful gardens located on the lake, with the gorgeous Anthony Chapel on site as well. The tulips in April are fantastic, and the Christmas lights are lovely as well. Occasionally, there are musical performances in Anthony Chapel, well worth the effort and cost of admission.

Met up with friends for a few days of camping at Lake Catherine State Park. This is probably the nicest state park I’ve ever been in. We camped right on the water and had a few beautiful sun rises. The campsites are level, full hook...More

Lake Catherine State Park---Where to eat? (3 Replies)
We have reservations for a cabin in September. We'll take some sandwich stuff and steaks to grill, but I do not want to cook. I need recommendations for and directions to nearby restaurants. Actually, the closer to the park the better. We like all types of food.

hiking trail suggestion (4 Replies)
Hi, I'm going to hot springs by the end of November for 3-4 days, for the thanksgiving with a friend of mine. I already booked hotel room in hot springs. Could anyone suggest good hiking trails for that time of year? I'm going to drive there so any place within 1h drive from there should also be fine, but closer better. are there any good trails for example in Lake Catherine State Park? p.s. is there any wildlife I should be aware of? like bares or snakes? thanks Levani

Lake Catherine trail is okay. Maybe a couple miles. It is a nice park. More of a natural setting than most of the HS national park trails. If there has been rain, there are some small falls. The Ouachita Trail and some other state parks offer more trail variety. One of my fav sections of the Ouachita Trail is around Lake Sylvia but that's going on an hour drive. If I were going that far, I'd probably drive to Petit Jean or Nebo SP. Between Garvan Gardens, the Nat Park, and maybe Catherine,...More

Lake Catherine or Lake Hamilton (5 Replies)
We are planning a summer vacation to Hot Springs, and I am looking up vacation rentals. I found condos that I like on Lake Catherine and Lake Hamilton. We won't be using the lake other than to look at from the condo as we will have a 2 year old and newborn with us. Our main purpose is sightseeing in Hot Springs and Little Rock, swimming in the pool at the condo, and relaxing on the balcony of the condo. I did think we might spend some time at Lake Catherine State Park if that factors in at...More
