2022 Memorial Day experience was the best camping week - end I have had as an adult. I had not been tent camping before and the camp grounds and Ranger station was one of the best experiences I have ever had. I went paddle boating floated on the lake and hung out on the beach with family. The other campers were like neighbors and daily we talked with people and learned about who they were and the reasons they came to this park to enjoy the week-end.

I have to say this state park and the people didn’t disappoint me. The park itself is very clean and calm. We are only a few minutes away from the next major city (Hot Spring) yet it feels like we are hundred of mile away.
The roads leading to the park has a wonderful fall color and very smooth and curvy but not too crazy. The main visitor center is very clean and open. Most of the basic you can get from there if you don’t want to drive the 17 mins to the nearest Walmart. The service and communication from the staff at the state park is very pleasant. They were very helpful and direct.
We got there at 11 and were made aware that our cabin is not ready (check in is at 3pm). We explore the lake and meet up with some friends that already there 2 days before and had lunch with them at their cabin. At 2pm I stop back by the visitor center and were given the key code to get into our cabin.
We didn’t have the opportunity to use the marina this time but from the beach... it was clean.
We had cabin number 8, 3, 1 and a hunter cabin.
I personally stayed in cabin 8 so I’ll provide detail about it. Cabin 8 is the best if your a looking for a larger outdoor gathering area. Looking at the lake cabin 8 will be the last one to the left. That saids, everything thing to the left can and will be use by the renter of cabin 8. It has a larger outdoor fire pit and enough space to hold 20 people. Keep walking down the same directions the short trail will leads to the tip of the peninsula where you can find a small private beach. Our kids went there to swim the 1st day.
The cabin is nicely equipped with everything you would needs. Top lever is a loft bedroom with 2 full bed. The bottom has 2 more bedroom, each with a queen size bed.
Note.... you will not have WiFi. WiFi is available at the visitor center in case of emergency. Plenty of picnic and bbq area throughout the park. Day trip to hot spring is a simple 20 mins drive.
Over all I think this park is a treasure for the state of Arkansas and my family will be back soon.

We went around evening to enjoy the views by the lake. The lake has many places to visit but the best was the sunset by the Three Sisters Springs. We were there during the golden hour and saw the colour of the sky change every 2 mins. The experience was amazing and we thoroughly enjoyed it.

Didn’t get check in info and no one available after 5 and we got there at 5:30.
Unit wasn’t cleaned very well. Looked like beds were made and counters barely wiped off and that was it for cleaning! Ants all over the kitchen and dusty blinds and bathrooms. Bathrooms had fresh mold around sink faucets. Dust, hair, mold and ants this place should have been much cleaner! Requested more toiletries/coffee and was told housekeeping would bring it…nope they couldn’t even do that!

We spent the morning here at the three sisters springs public beach area. It's very quiet and peaceful. Water is really clear for a lake. Beach and water is really clean and its all very nice and maintained. Park security came and pull up in parking area a few times and check area than drive away which made us fell good that they are watching area etc. No dogs, glass etc. , parking is concrete right at beach. Not a ton of shade or sitting areas. This is sand and rock area even in water wear beach shoes to water. We enjoy our time and would recommend and go again if in area. Three sister springs was neat to see, read etc.

We took the Caddo Bench Trail which is approximately a 3 - 4 hour hike. Most of the hike involved hills and dips so being in shape is recommended. The whole trail allowed views of the lake. HIghly recommended.

The last time I was here was in 1972 and it is still lovely and clear. We didn’t swim at the day use area but instead went down to the Three Sisters Springs area which is bigger. Not as many picnic tables though. Very nice.

We went on two different hikes each with its own unique challenges. The half mile Dogwood Trail can be completed in less than 30 minutes. The more strenuous 4-mile Caddo Bend Trail took us to amazing views but we had to go through some challenging parts. You need to be in decent physical shape to finish this almost three-hour trek but definitely worth it.

Not a hotel, more of a VRBO. Beautiful place, but you have to do some light housekeeping and take out your own trash. Very lightly staffed at specific times. Nice pool. Overall a good place to stay, but not a hotel like I was expecting
