Adena Mansion is a great stop in the fall or spring (it gets a little steamy in the summer). The governor's mansion has been preserved to show daily life pre-civil War, including gardens and a working farm complete with goats and donkeys. Tours are offered but you'll often find car shows, flower sales, dinner theaters and other activities available on... More

I went on a Monday (only day I had) and they were closed but I still toured the grounds, gardens and buildings. It was so peaceful and beautiful! I just sat under one of the benches under a tree and took it all in! I needed that!

We visited on a very hot day ... the house was surprisingly cool. The guides were excellent. The only fault was that the tour group was too large to easily fit into the rooms.

The Adena Mansion and Gardens is a splendid place to visit. Upon parking you enter the museum and while walking thru the museum, you will get a history lesson regarding the grounds and the times of early Ohio. Very well done and interactive. You will have to pay an admission fee unless you are members of the Ohio History Connection.... More

The house tour was fantastic! The tour guide was very informative and the museum had some fun activity areas. There was a fabulous model of the estate in the middle of the museum. We wished we had a chance to spend more time there looking over the gardens and other historic buildings. A great place to go on a beautiful... More

This was a fascinating look at the life of a wealthy family in the early days of statehood in Ohio. Highly recommend.

This is a lovely home, beautifully restored, fully and impeccably furnished and maintained, with some original pieces. The gardens were lovely as well. Our guide, a very knowledgeable and personable young man, did an outstanding job of providing background on the house construction, furnishings, and the family who built it. He was able to anwer all questions. Tips: We were... More

We visited this place years ago but was never able to tour the mansion because of renovations. Came back and thoroughly enjoyed it. The guide was very informative and it was a very interesting piece of history. Grounds are beautiful. Would recommend visiting!

One of three remaining Latrobe-designed homes remaining in the U.S., built more than 200 years ago for an early Ohio politician. A number of prominent individuals spent time here including James Monroe, Henry Clay, and even Tecumseh. The tour was detailed and unrushed and the young man who conducted our group was the best I've ever seen. The site contained... More

Visited years ago, but when friends visited from out of state we were stunned! The remodel and updating was fabulous. The gardens were in full bloom and beautiful. The guides were well informed and helpful in answering questions...a great afternoon!
