About
No matter the season, Nami Island is a beautiful destination to visit all year round. Known for appearing in many Korean dramas, the island has numerous lanes lined with pine trees, gingko trees, redwood giants and more. Take a scenic walk along the wooden riverside path and snap a photo with the Winter Sonata statue in Gongsaengwon Garden. You can get to the island via ferry or one of the longest ziplines in Korea. Alternatively, join a popular day trip from Seoul which includes Nami Island, Petite France and Garden of Morning Calm. Some tours include attractions like Mount Seorak or Gangchon Rail Bike as well.

I was here a few years back for the autumn season which the fallen leaves were really beautiful and nice! So this time round I decided to drop by Nami Island during Spring and I really loved Nami even during Spring!
Once you have landed at Nami Island from the ferry, you can really feel the spring showers and wind blowing across your face. You can just practically spend the bulk of your time enjoying a slow walk along the tall trees, or to look out for famous sights where Winter Sonata was filmed. But one of the things I like to do over at Nami is to actually head over to the central area where there is a Well like structure. They do sell Red Bean buns which was really tasty, so I recommend heading over to the center area and see if the buns captures your stomach!
You can also rent bikes to cycle around Nami so that could also be another option when you are here. A thing to note is that you might need to take note of the ferry arrival and departure hours as during peak seasons where there are a lot of tourist, it might be challenging for you to get on your ferry. So if you are a time sensitive traveler you might want to factor this in!

Nami Island is a very beautiful place that I would definitely recommend. There you can walk under the tall trees or stroll along the riverside to enjoy the tranquility. The presence of lovely snowmen and the setting up of fireplaces add warmth to the island, which is especially great in the cold winter with snow fall. There are also wildlife like peacocks and rabbits on the island.
Apart from the beautiful nature, there are also facilities on the island, like a little train, song museum, bicycles, decorations, shops and restaurants, etc. I have tried the Nami sausage with honey mustard sauce which I found it very delicious. It costs ₩3,000 and I think it is worth trying.
Though it takes me 2 hrs to get to the island from city centre by taking the metro, taxi and ferry, I would still highly recommend the place. I am also interested in coming again in future in other seasons like autumn to enjoy the beautiful scenery.

We visited this as the 2nd leg of a day tour we booked via Klook.
The number of people visiting Nami Island detracted slightly from my overall experience. I do however acknowledge that the infrastructure has been well developed enough to ensure that it never got too squeezy. Toilets were readily available throughout the island too.
I liked the heated interior of the ferry. Much welcome given the freezing conditions.
Recommended as long as you do not expect to take perfect Winter Sonata photos!

While the island has some pretty scenery, it is almost always packed to the point where it’s impossible to enjoy it. Have patience as there will be multitudes of individuals and groups posing for that perfect Instagram. So if going for scenery and photography I’d recommend a different place. I do think they’ve done a great job with the infrastructure to help mitigate the crowds. Strolling the island for casual leisure and family time is great, they have a lot there for children. I’d recommend grabbing food on the island. The Hotteok (sweet Korean pancake) is delicious. Zip-lining in is our favorite way to enter. Visiting the nearby Garden of Morning Calm, Petite France, and/or Gangchon Rail Cars would round the day out nicely. I love the sign they added for the Tulip Tree that fell during typhoon Lingling, very comical.

Visited Nami in November. Weather was kind to us with pretty cool temperature and no rain in our day of visit. Travel from Myeongdong to Gapyeong station took 2 hours. Be mindful you could be left standing on the TRX train if you buy your tickets on the spot. Either take a ferry or zip line to the island. Entrance fee to Nami is included in the ferry ticket price, hence there is no need to buy entrance ticket separately. Island was crowded but still beautiful despite the fact the leaves on the trees are not so colourful as expected in Autumn probably due to global climate change. There isn’t much of food variety around the jetty area on the mainland. Mostly offering Dakgalbi. We prefer taking the path by the riverside while on the island though taking the path in between rows of ginkgo trees is great too.

This place was a very fun place to sightsee and to even eat some excellent food. You can get here two ways, the ferry boat or by huge zipline, which was what I did, and that was probably the best part about it, though the zipline was pretty scary. Once you get there, it's full of green and little small details like tiny bridges and sculptures. There's also many different options of food there, so hunger is not an issue. I went in the summer so it was very humid and hot but I would like to visit again in the spring or definitely in the winter when it snows. Overall, I would definitely say it's worth your time and should check it out.

Lovely scenery, lots of facilities, beautiful overall. It is quite small though frankly, we spent 1.5h there and that was enough!
Accessible easily by ferry, journey itself from the mainland only 5 minutes
If you’re there, I would definitely recommend trying the Hotteok at Sonata Cafe - it was warm and absolutely delicious! Of note though, it does contain pine nuts.

I feel so much energized and exciting with the environment of the island. Efficient ferry and smooth journey. Self Guide walk, trees, frozen lake, tiny animals like rabbit roaming around the place and facilities .

Traveling all the way to Korea and going to Nami Island is like traveling all the way to Paris and going to a Ripley's Believe It or Not Museum. It's a tourist trap that was created for domestic tourists.
I don't understand why it's so heavily promoted while actual Korean cultural spots are neglected.

We visited here as part of a group and by the time we got there it was very busy on the island.
The boats are frequent though. We only spent around 45 mins in the island which isn't really a lot of time so would recommend coming here on your own if you can so you are not rushing as part of a group with very limited time here.
There is lots to see and plenty of spots to take Autumn 🍂 photos.
There are some emus here too but they do not look very friendly so be careful if you have children.
They have live music here too.

Hey! Are the cafés and restaurants on the Island open on Sundays?
Is it more crowded on Saturdays or Sundays?
Written September 24, 2023
Definitely more crowded. I would eat before going there as there is not much variety. To be honest go somewhere else the place is so boring

Hi! How would the nami island’s tree look like during first week of march?
Written February 19, 2023
Unfortunately, I've not been to Nami on Christmas day.
However, I believe if u reach the island by 10am or earlier, it should not be crowded. That's the time I arrived and it was fantastic till the crowd swarmed the island. Hope this helps.

Hello!
Just wondering if there's still snow on NAMI island & the garden of morning calm in the first week of march? Thanks
Written November 9, 2019
I would say no. Because of global warming, there's rarely snow in most parts of Korea; even in the most high season places. It rarely snow in recent years.

Hi! What is the address to the ferry to get to the Island?
Written November 1, 2019
It’s easiest and convenient to take their bus shuttle service that picks you up from central areas and drops you off at the ferry entrance. tripadvisor does not allow me to post the link. But you can google “how to get to nami island” and check their website at namisum
Or book a day tour with Klook or Trazy to explore with other attractions around that Gapyeong area.

Can we hold a camera (or a smart phone) while taking the zipline? I wanna record a short video but someone said that they didn’t allow customer to hold a camera (or phone). Anyone had experience about that?
Written October 4, 2019
U can take photo or video, there no restrictions that i am aware of. You can check their website

Where I could buy the ticket travelling to Nami Island in Seoul?
Written September 8, 2019
Sorry, i can answer your question exactly because i visited Nami island with travel agent so they prepare all of our stuff.
Maybe you can find out at klook or other provider, thank you
Written September 9, 2019
How many days before do I have to make bookings for 1day tour to nami island, petite france and land of morning calm.
Written September 5, 2019
If you are driving yourself you can buy entrance tickets when you arrive at these destinations. However if you want to go with a guide/driver, you should book a week or two in advance, to make sure you don't miss out.
