A short visit after the castle
Dec 2019 • Solo
The shrine is small but it is interesting due to the fact that the phallic theme is constant around the area.
I ended up getting lost driving, so I parked my car at the grocery store Fuji and walked all the way to the sanctuary. Then I realized that the street where it is located really look as an access to a private garage since it is quite narrow. There is a parking lot just in front of the shrine, so do follow Google maps or Waze because you will get there.
Forget about the Museum. I paid 800¥ and it was not worth. You pay 200¥ to see a castle in Uwajima and pay 800 for a place that has a lot of interesting pictures and objects, but the receptionist was bored, the environment was too hot and no picture can be taken.

Short detour
Oct 2019 • Solo
10 minute walk from the train station it was a good selection for a 15-20 minute detour as I did Taga and Warei in the same go because they are super close to each other. Like all other shrines, it’s well maintained but of course the attraction is the fertility symbols on the grounds. Me and my dirty mind enjoyed it immensely and I had the added bonus of actually having a cat hanging out on the altar with cat symbols.

Museum cost 800 yen, I had no interest. I thought the grounds was a better choice, with the added bonus of it being free.

Peaceful site with things on its mind

It would be fair to say that the orientation is sexual here, with subtle displays of genitalia (and some not so subtle). It is shady and cool in here and a good place to rest. In the morning I was outnumbered by museum staff.

Small shrine
Feb 2019 • Couples
Drove through uwajima. The carpark for the shrine was not easy to find. After a small bridge there was an instruction to the shrine bigger carpark.

Probably it was winter, there was no other visitors. We just had a quick walk around the shrine.

We liked it
Apr 2018 • Couples
Me and my wife had a short stop in Uwajima during a train day trip through western Shikoku. It seemed intriguing to visit Taga Jinja shrine and fertility museum after Uwajima castle. It was good to see a large collection of all items concerning sex and fertility. It is a part, and very important part of life. So we were excited and happy after this visit.

Pray for Long life and fertility
May 2018 • Solo
A nice shrine complex with a few sex related items on the grounds. There is an adjoining sex museum. An easy walk from the train station and to/from the Uwajima Castle.

An interesting Fertlity Shrine but a poor Museum alongside it
Nov 2016 • Couples
We have seen Fertility Shrines in China, South Korea, Vietnam, Laos and Thailand. We have been to "penis parks" in Laos, South Korea and museums of Sex in Paris, South Korea, Prague.

The Taga Shrine is another example of the importance of fertility paricularly in countries that rely on descendents for inheritance, dowry and family care. It was an interesting Shinto Shrine and the tree trunk penis is paraded in the town at times.

The attached "Museum" is a place in need of a good museum curator. It is patchy, dense and obscure. We could not help but think that this Museum is one man's personal obesssion. It cost an entry fee of 800JPY - suggest you save your money.

Shrine - certainly, but Museum is a disappointment. Do not recommend going out of your way for the Museum.

Strange
Jul 2015 • Friends
Temple was nice looking, cosy. The museum was not what we expected. Cannot advice it to people that have a little bit weak stomach. There are to much details, a really strange collection...
Would not recommend it...

The sex museum
Apr 2015 • Couples
One mans collection of paintings, drawings, and other artifacts all concerning sex and particularly the penis. There is a giant penis carved out of a log which is possibly the most interesting relic. This is a fertility shrine which once was a common sight in Japanese Shintoism. But you can have too much of a good thing!
