If you like having a short walk while looking for some food to eat, this is the place to go to. Some cute and cozy izakaya's with small seating capacity. Don't be disappointed if some places are full, just keep on walking till you find an empty of half filled place. Plenty to eat and drink. We had some good choices of food to choose from. The cook will fry/cook it in front of you, while showing some 'fiery' display as they cook up the food. Different shops might serve different food. There are some menus placed outside for your information. Suitable for adults, not so for young children though. Booze are served as well in most establishments. The whole walkway is well lit. You can peek through the windows of the cute shops to see what's 'çooking'. Overall, a great place for 'food window shopping'.

I visit this place from the review of TripAdvisor. There are about 15 stalls. The day i came was Sunday and not all stall open. It is good the experience having dinner here, you jave chance talk to the local people and the owner. Most of them speak very simple word by word English. So, you might speak with your body language as well.
The price is reasonable. The food is ok and i am sure you can get better food in other pub and restaurants over this area.

Yes I agree with other reviews, nice row of small stall, great varieties of food; but no chance to try. Some the stores got sits, when they see visitors, they will tell you is reserved. I visited this place on 2 occasions, both same bad experience. This place is not foreigner friendly.

There are variety of food stalls and you will be spoiled with choice. Each stall is not so spacious but cozy enough to talk to other visitors and make friends, they could invite you for bar hopping in the area.

This is a small street with food stalls on both sides, the cuisines ranging from local Japanese to Western food (one stall sold raclette)! Great experience going there and mingling with the locals. On a Saturday night after 8:30pm, practically all seats in all stalls were taken, and the place was still going strong well after 10pm.

I loved the Yatai Izakaya experience. Yatai is normally a pop-up stall, but this one here in Obihiro close to the station is permanent. It is opened to the street in summer but shut and cosy in the winter. The people sit (~ 8 seats) around the counter in the middle from where the owner cooks and serves food and drinks. Great variety of sake and small dishes. The food which is served varies also from shop to shop (sashimi, yakitori, kushiage, gyoza, pizza,...). The street consists of 20 shops.

Kita no Yatai, and the nearby Nagaya (Long house) areas are made up of lots of small shops with a variety of often unique, reasonably priced and interesting food. Worth a visit if you want to try a few different kinds of food.

I visited Kita no yatai locates in downtown Obihiro in June 2017. There are tens of small restaurants in Kita no yatai. Japanese, French, Chinese... My favorite place was Kohituji, the restaurant serves lamb grilled , stewed, produced in the region. If you love lamb, you should try it. It was the best lamb In my life.
Sake and nice wine rouge or blanc, beer are available. The restaurant also serve Japanese seafood and organic potatos. The price is reasonable and the owner and his wife were very friendly.

Hello, wondering if this place is open during February, cold time in the year?
We are planning a visit to Obihiro to visit the Shikaribetsu Lake
