Simple but good
Jun 2017 • Family
Went with 2 children. Wasn't expecting much. The zoo is small and located next to various parks and small museums.

The parts we enjoyed the most was the aviary that had small birds flying freely among the visitors. Also, we could go up close to the flamingoes within the same enclosure.

There is also a small amusement park within the zoo with simple rides. My children really enjoyed the go-karting. The track was simple but we could go really fast. Went round x3 for each of my children. Only 100yen for a round.

There were also scattered lavender blooms to view.

The downsides were that some of the animals looked really lonely. There is only one lion, one elephant, one giraffe, one zebra, one polar bear, one sea lion.

In conclusion, the zoo may be one of the oldest in Japan, but you can have a good time still. Worth spending 1-2 hours to stroll through.

Very cold in winter
Dec 2015 • Friends
Was there recently with temperature -10C, was cold but was beautiful around all covered in white. Saw some animals, red face monkeys all huddled together in a row, so cute looking, appeared to be keeping one another warm. Penguins, polar bear, raccoons, eagle. There wasn't lots of animals around. Ground was pretty slippery but I Gus's I enjoyed the place because is winter and was covered with snow, just beautiful.

Girafves and zebras are raised by the same cage!!
Aug 2015 • Family
An elephant is raised at this zoo. The zoo where an elephant is raised in Hokkaido is only here. Girafves and zebras are raised by the same cage, so I'm interesting. An amusement park is also in this zoo. There are a Ferris wheel and a carrousel. The equipment in this zoo is old, but I think you can enjoy yourself surely.

This zzoo must be closed

This is the worst zoo I've seen so far.
Little cages for big animals, animals that should be in a group, all alone. Lot of sad things, I couldn't belive my eyes. Really bad that it is still open. So sad. I don't even know why people give a 3 to 5 points to this. Unbelievable.

Another zoo that really should be closed

Another example of a zoo where the animals do not have enough space. Cruel and embarassing.
