This place will be crowded upon the evening. Teenagers mostly will gather to performs their gimmicks like K-POP, busking or some traditional arts performance.

This is an active Indonesian military base. Security around the base is quite lax despite it being actively used. We almost entered inside the base before a guard came running and told us in Indonesian something. We assumed he meant that we could not enter inside and walked out. There were hardly people inside and it had military vehicles parked inside. You could take a picture with the word 'Palembang' written outside. But apart from that there is nothing much to see.

Benteng Kuto Besak Fort on the Musi River is an old Dutch fort that has historical significance from that colonial era. Still used by the Indonesian military so therefore not accessible for visits, is still worth a few photos whilst wandering around the area near the Ampera bridge (along with Monpera and the Grand Mosque, all within a few 100's mettres)

Benteng Kuto Besak should be an interesting historical place. But since it was forbidden for tourists to see the insides, there was nothing much to say about it. It is functionally a military office, so it's not really a tourist attraction. To put BKB in a "Things To Do" list is simply misleading.

This place is a pre-colonial fort which was built by the Sultan of Palembang in the 18th century to defend his city against the expanding Dutch East Indies (which was still mostly a Javanese empire at that point.) The massive, limestone walls remain to this day and form an attractive backdrop for boat rides along this part of the waterfront. Unfortunately the fort is still an army base and so it is not possible to go inside for a look. (Though on the other hand, most forts look the same from inside.) An interesting fact is that this fort was originally on an island, with a narrow channel separating it from the city's old mosque. The waterfront has advanced quite a bit in the last couple of hundred years. It is worth turning up the side street runs back from the waterfront. The last remaining original gateway into the fort can be seen a hundred metres or so along.

Nothing special. Can only see front view. Inside is Military property. Touts and beggars will drive you crazy. mNear Ampera and best thing about the place is you can walk a short distance away from it to see some interesting sights. Still with the touts and beggars though.

We did not enter the place as it was mentioned by other tourist who wrote the review that the place is used for army training. We saw many officers and the place is safely guarded by guards too. However, we took pictures of the word 'Palembang' beside the river, Ampera bridge as well as a big fish statue. If you walked further down on the left hand side beside the Alfamart, you will reach a market and many small shops selling dirt cheap stuff. The people are nice and would not force you to buy if you ask for a price.

This Historical Fort was once the most visited place for tourists. For its history and location which is next from the Musi River, you can see clearly the Ampera Bridge, the icon of Palembang.
