Erlinda was the perfect hostess, teacher and chef. From the minute we met her at the local market, she was warm and friendly - giving us precious insights into not only Balinese food, but the culture and religious aspects of this beautiful society, too. The cooking class was wonderfully prepared and presented in Erlinda’s own subtropical paradise. The countless dishes we made, were eaten for lunch - so many wonderful flavour combinations and ideas to take home! Markus (Erlinda’s husband), was the perfect host and we felt like long lost friends.

Erlinda was just incredible throughout the whole experience! Knowledgeable, passionate and hospitable! We would give this experience 10/10 as it definitely exceeded my expectations. The journey was amazing, we learnt about the local culture and about the different foods and spices plus traditional ways of cooking. Not to mention the delicious food we cooked and a fantastic take away cook book full of unique recipes. Thank you!!

My boyfriend and I did the morning cooking class followed by the Tanah Lot Temple tour and it was an amazing experience. We got picked up from our Villa by Bob in a nice air conditioned car, and taken to the local markets to learn about the produce we will be cooking with. We then arrived at the MEXX Cooking School, a beautiful location overlooking rice terraces and lush gardens. We cooked a total of 10 recipes! The Tanah Lot Temple tour was also a lovely experience, Bob was a great tour guide. We had such a wonderful time learning about and cooking traditional Balinese and Indonesian cuisine and can't wait to re-create what we learnt back home! Special thanks to Erlinda, Astrid, Bob and the rest of the team for making our experience so memorable.

We did the full day cooking school which was great. Loved learning the tricks to making our favourite dishes like Mee Goreng and Nadi Goreng that much better! I don’t cook, but Erlinda made me cook and I am glad that she did!

The market tour was very interesting and we were given tastes of many foods unique to Bali. The enjoyable drive to the cooking school took us through villages and rice fields. We were delighted on our arrival at the destination to discover our dining table was outside overlooking the produce garden and lush vegetation. The cooking area was very well laid out, the people very helpful and friendly as they explained all the methods and recipes. We ended up with so much food we were able to bring some home with us. Highly recommend!!!
