Beautiful place, but incredibly busy - it’s like a theme park!
Beautiful place, architecture, views and entertainment everywhere. You could realistically spend a whole day here if you wanted to. Restaurant and cafe prices are reasonable, the kids play area is great, you’ve seen the photos - now go visit! Points to note - they charge to use the toilet, 2,000 rupiahs a go, so take plenty of small notes as they may not have change. The main entrance fee is just for entry. Every other attraction costs pretty much. Tourists arrive by the bus load - it is busy. But because it’s so big it doesn’t feel unmanageable busy. Imagine almost Disney World kind of busy and you’re about there. It’s just a bit cooler as there’s a nice breeze from the lake. Thoroughly recommend!

    Gorgeous grounds and temples!
Situated on a massive lake beneath central Bali mountains, this expansive attraction of gardens and temples is a great family or couples location. Very clean, well maintained and pictures plenty for instagram shutterbugs. Breezes off the lake make the heat tolerable. Shouldn’t miss.

    Beautiful location!
What a beautiful location. The site has many Instagram photo locations where there are lines to take photos. We didn't do that. We went straight to the Temple on the Water. Fortunately, it is not busy there. Beautiful how this is built in with the lake as a backdrop. Glad we went here.

    Beautiful temple of Bali
Must visit while in Bali. This is such an iconic temple that the photo of the ulun danu bretan is used by many travel magazines, it has become the symbol of Bali. It is a unesco world heritage site. The vibes are wonderful. We got free water bottles ( this was the only place in Bali during our week long stay where we got free water)It is well maintained and we had lunch at the eatery in the compound.

Temple in front of Lake and mountains
We were here on a rainy afternoon, even with every thing drenched with the downpour, the views and ambience were amazing! parking and facilities are pretty nice, with the shops and food joints helping manage the umbrella and hot beverage. Carry your best self stick, preferably with enough of height to take pics with main doors and remote trigger!

visit early morning, and on a clear day
we departed ubud at 6:30 am in order to be one of the first visitors at the temple after 8 am. the morning light made the temple shimmer against the serene mountains and lake backdrop. this is probably my favorite temple in the entire bali island, leaps and bounds ahead of other more well-known ones e.g. uluwatu, tanah lot. most importantly, no crowds in the early hour. as we left 1.5h later, at least 20 tour buses filled with day trippers have started arriving en masse.

    A beautiful touristattraction
Beautiful park. Beautiful surroundings. Big area. The temples were as we expected. Clean and quiet. Lots of people. Shade. Everything costs extra - even the toilet. We had a buffet at a restaurant which we did not like. It did not seem like it was cooked nor stored properly. We were affraid to contage “Bali stomace” and one of us did.

    Amazing Place to Visit
Ulun Danu Bratan Temple is amazing place to visit. Built in 1633, the temple is used for offerings and ceremonies dedicated to the Balinese water, lake and river goddess Dewi Danu This temple is probably one the top sight to visit of Bali. It takes about 2hours from Ubud while you enjoy the views of the beautiful rice fields nearby. Be sure to come early in order to avoid crowds

A good visit for people who appreciate nature
Ulun Danu Beratan Temple in Bali offers stunning views, especially in good weather, with picturesque lakes making it an Instagram paradise. Families can enjoy the fish feeding area, and for an extra fee, interact with Luwak cats, bats, rabbits, and Guinea pigs. However, the lack of historical context is noticeable, and it's more of a quick visit lasting about 50-60 minutes. The drive to the temple is enjoyable, adding to the overall experience.

This place is so adorable that has clear lake, blue sky & awesome temple. We just need around 1,5 hours drive from Kuta. But, you will not getting bored because you will see different view a long the road. Please bring umbrella, just in case if it's rain happen. Maybe you can come in May-Oct, it will be good season

We visited this Beratan Lake (some call it Bedugul Lake because it is located in Bedugul) in late Dec-2020 during Covid pandemic. It took 1,5 hours drive from Seminyak area to Bedugul. The temple is situated on the banks of the lake. A very nice and scenic temple, it is pictured on the IDR50.000 bill. The lake is so calm, and the temperature is cool. The temple is said to be Hindu temple, but there are also Buddha stupas, indicating the harmony between the religions in the past. Visitors can rent boat or speedboat to go around the lake. Entrance fee is Rp.30.000/person, but they also offer a package which includes drink and meals in the restaurant inside the park.

We went on a half day tour to Ulun Danu Bratan Temple from Ubud, which is about one and a half hours drive away.

We loved the beautiful location, the well maintained landscaped garden and the cool, clean and fresh air.

A great place to take some magnificent photos and enjoy the scenery across the lake.

The crowds were not too heavy and taking pictures very easy.

A couple of downsides though, (1) High admission cost of 75000 IDR per person and (2) The new concrete suspended roadway hugging the nearby mountain rather spoils the views of the temple.

Well worth a visit though !

After a long and winding drive into the depths of Bali's hillsides, our Temple Tour with Discova took us to the one and only Ulun Danu Bratan Temple. Famed for its location on top of a lake, this temple is a hotbed of tourist activity and when the site is as gorgeous as this is, you can hardly be surprised.

This temple has one of the rare benefits of having both distinct Hindu and Buddhist influences on its architecture, with the plurality of belief showing the unique cultural blend that makes Bali so special. There is also a gorgeous mural that shows the history of how the lake has affected the communities around it, which further adds to the local flavour of the temple.

When we visited Ulun Danu, there had been no rainfall in Bali for next to six months, and as a result the lake itself was sitting quite low. This meant that we didn't get to experience the temple at its most picturesque, and yet still the majesty of the temple impressed us.

This all being said, the volume of tourists was so high that it was very difficult to truly enjoy the setting and stories behind the temple at Ulun Danu. I did say that this temple was a hotbed of tourist activity, and while some may enjoy that, I feel that it detracts from the purpose of visiting a temple.

This Hindu temple set on Lake Beratan is a famous Instagram photo op and is featured on the 50,000 Rupiah note. The scenery is gorgeous and the grounds are well-maintained with tropical flowers and plants. The reason for only 4 stars is due to the commercialism like "tacky" Disneyland-type colorful cement animals. It is a popular place and crowded. We saw a lot of eating areas and places to rest. Our tour guide said we could ride the boats in the lake for an additional fee. I believe the entrance fee to the temple was about 50,000 rupiah and they do take credit cards.

We went there on a Sunday morning. After 7 years living in Bali, we finally decided to check out this famous spot. We drove all the way from Seminyak with our car and it took us around 1 hour and 20 minutes. We arrived at around 8am. The place was so peaceful and quiet... We were taking some pictures when a super nice balinese guy asked us if we wanted to go on the lake with a boat. He was super funny and spoke perfectly french. He took hundreds of pictures for us to make sure we had plenty of memories... Such a lovely experience.

75k entrance which is more than most temples around Bali. Very different from other temples, it has more of a “national trust” feel about it. Temple, coffee? Restaurant, gardens, kids areas etc.

Additional things you can do there for more money - e.g photo spots, petting zoo, owls etc.

The area is pretty and we had a nice time but it is a trek from the areas most tourists stay in so if travelling this way I would plan other activities to go alongside. I wouldn’t travel all this way for just this

We rode scooters from Ubud following a local guide. It was about a 2 -3 hour scooter ride each way, some busy streets as you leave Ubud. Great places to take photos of the lake/ temple and mountains, quite busy with tourists. 75,000 Rp per person
there is food and drinks available, many different areas to take photos of the view

The appeal of this temple is it's stunning location, the lake surrounded by mountains, it's all very magical. The gardens next to the temple are beautiful and within the complex there are a restaurant, toilets, play parks and even a hut with a display of animals so there is plenty of occupy your time. The inner sanctums of the temples are not accessible if you're not a worshipper but much of the complex can be viewed from the gates.

Ulun Danu Bratan Temple, also known as the floating temple, or Pura Ulun Danu Bratan Temple, is situated on the shores of Lake Bratan, in the Bedugul district of Bali. This is, in fact, a major Hindu Shaivite water temple in Bali. The magnificent views of the lake in the backdrop of the mountains have made this temple a popular attraction for tourists and photographers.
