This temple complex whilst beautiful & its location on the lake is breathtaking. It has no spirituality. It’s been turned into a money making theme park for tourism. It’s been set up for Instagramers. Not worth the 75,000IDR entrance fee which includes a small bottle of water. The people enjoying powerboat rides on the lake adjacent to the temple complex spoil any peacefulness you may have found.

Ulun Danu Beratan Temple is an absolute gem of Bali, offering breathtaking scenery and a serene atmosphere. Nestled on the shores of Lake Beratan, this stunning water temple seems to float on the lake, creating a magical and peaceful ambiance. The lush green mountains in the background, combined with the misty air, add to its mystical charm. The temple’s intricate Balinese architecture and spiritual significance make it a must-visit destination for anyone traveling to Bali. A few sweet Indonesian people wanted to take photos with me and kept complimenting me. I took pictures with more than 50 people and felt like a celebrity. They are such lovely people! Whether you’re there for photography, cultural exploration, or simply to enjoy the tranquility, Ulun Danu Beratan is truly an unforgettable experience!

We are always awed by the serenity and picturesque location of this temple that was established on the lake’s shoreline during the 17th century in worship of Brahma, Vishnu, Shiva and the lake goddess, Dewi Danu. There always seems to be a ceremony in various sections of the complex and, this August, busloads of pilgrims from a University in Java. The Meru Tower is located on a small island with access via a short walkway. Every visitor seemed to be taking photographs of the Tower or selfies with it as a backdrop. The surrounding landscaped areas are very well maintained. The entire area has become heavily commercialised since we first visited back in the 1980’s and the current admission fee for the tourist is IDR75,000/person

We recently visited the Ulun Dana Bratan Temple as part of a day trip from Ubud booked through a travel company called Ubud Area Tours. The temple is located on the shore of Lake Beratan and are open from around 7am to 7pm daily. There is a fairly large parking lot, public toilets and even a few cafes at the temple. Entry fee is IDR75K per adult, no sarong required in general temple grounds area. You'll find fairly large and open grounds along the lake. Some tall trees in area to create shade, nice landscaping and overall attractive setting around temple structures, typical of Balinese Hindu architecture you may have seen at other temples around the island. The main temple seems to date back to 1633. There are two structures situated in the lake just off the shore, these make for great photographs. Within the temple grounds, there are a couple locations where you can have interactions with rescued wildlife animals which can include having pictures taken and feeding for small fees. We enjoyed seeing the fruit bats, civets (think Luwak coffee) and owls. Very helpful if your driver/guide knows the history of the temple and can share a bit with you as you explore the grounds. We spent around 45 minutes at Pura Ulun Danu Bratan before moving on to the next destination on the day.

This is a must-see if you visit Bali. Located about a two-hour drive from Kuta in a hilly region, the Ulun Danu temple is on the shores of a lake. There is sufficient parking, and while there were many visitors, the temple was not overly crowded. There is a fee to enter, but it is well worth it. Starting from the customary open gates of Balinese architecture, the entire temple complex is beautiful and makes for fantastic photos. It is also well-maintained and clean. Other than the main temple, there are some more things to see as you stroll around the complex. Also, paid restrooms are available. Some food joints also available at the complex.

Very nice temples to view along the water. It’s somewhat of a trek from the city center of Ubud therefore recommend going first thing in the morning. Out of all the temples I’ve seen, I think this has been the most rewarding of sites to see.

Its located 1500m above sea level, took us nearly 1hrs plus hour to reach this place from tanah lot (depending on traffic condition) its a uphill mountain drive. It was rainy when we arr outside the ticketing office, the temp drop to 19c, its was misty & very cooling quiet place as there where lesser crowd on that day. Upon entery you will see a big lake & temple stupa build on the side of the lake... feel its a good place to visit as there are no pple asking you to buy souvenir or monkeys to harrash you, best part was the cooling weather & fresh air

Wayan, like most taxi drivers in Bali, is an aggressive driver. He doesn't hesitate to overtake trucks, buses on single lane roads. We should be wearing our seat belts. I only saw one accident when a motorbike hit a parked car. After driving around to see the towns of northern Bali, we stopped here, the highlight of the day, for the rest of today's tour. There's a large crowd, there's an entry fee, but it must not be missed. It is unique to me -- temples of all kinds, floating islands in the lake, bursts of colors from plants and flowers. So many photo ops possible with a queue in front. But we had to return to the ship's dock. We're glad we went.

Ulun Danu Beratan Temple in Bali offers stunning views, especially in good weather, with picturesque lakes making it an Instagram paradise. Families can enjoy the fish feeding area, and for an extra fee, interact with Luwak cats, bats, rabbits, and Guinea pigs. However, the lack of historical context is noticeable, and it's more of a quick visit lasting about 50-60 minutes. The drive to the temple is enjoyable, adding to the overall experience.

one of the most visited temples in Bali. Located on Lake Bratan, a caldera of an extinct volcano at 1200 meters above sea level. Temple of the goddess of water. The walk takes place along the lake full of other altars and flowers. Being in the mountains the weather is often rainy.

we departed ubud at 6:30 am in order to be one of the first visitors at the temple after 8 am. the morning light made the temple shimmer against the serene mountains and lake backdrop.

this is probably my favorite temple in the entire bali island, leaps and bounds ahead of other more well-known ones e.g. uluwatu, tanah lot.

most importantly, no crowds in the early hour. as we left 1.5h later, at least 20 tour buses filled with day trippers have started arriving en masse.

Place to visit. Definitely a hyper tourist attraction with some points of mysticism in the closed areas of numerous temples present in the area. The views are lovely, the gardens and plants well cared for. They were able to make the most of every meter of the structure: it's impossible to get out without taking a few dozen photos. Entrance fee is 20,000 rupees, but then: a walk in the pond with the carp? Another 20,000 rupees; photo with an exotic pet on? Another 20,000 rupees, and so on... great organization, from this point of view. Anyway we had fun, the place is beautiful and worth a visit. The exotic animals are fun, from the bat to the python, passing through iguanas and various owls. The large carp are skinned, the lake is beautiful and the temples are beautiful. In the end cheap, despite everything!
It's worth a visit and definitely worth a few hours. To do.

In the mountains, on a lake with a pleasant name for Russian ears, Bratan, this temple is located - one of the symbols of Bali. It stands right on the water, so it is dedicated to the goddess-mistress of the water element. The water actually floods the temple during high tides, so it appears as if it is “floating.” But in the fall the water recedes, and you can reach the building on the ground. The place is located in the mountains, so it is much cooler here, I recommend taking warm clothes.

Ulun Danu Batur Temple is a temple associated with water, located in the Kintamani Highlands of Bali. It stands on the shores of Lake Batur and enshrines Dewi Ulun Danu, the water goddess who is the guardian deity of the lake. It is registered as a World Heritage Site as part of the cultural landscape of Bali Province.
We went there from Ubud by chartered car.
It is a prestigious temple, and it was the most impressive of the several temples I have visited. There was a festival going on, and it was crowded with people. If you want to hear detailed explanations while you go, I recommend going with a guide.
I'm glad I was able to come here near Mount Agung and Lake Batur.

We rode scooters from Ubud following a local guide. It was about a 2 -3 hour scooter ride each way, some busy streets as you leave Ubud. Great places to take photos of the lake/ temple and mountains, quite busy with tourists. 75,000 Rp per person
there is food and drinks available, many different areas to take photos of the view

This Hindu temple set on Lake Beratan is a famous Instagram photo op and is featured on the 50,000 Rupiah note. The scenery is gorgeous and the grounds are well-maintained with tropical flowers and plants. The reason for only 4 stars is due to the commercialism like "tacky" Disneyland-type colorful cement animals. It is a popular place and crowded. We saw a lot of eating areas and places to rest. Our tour guide said we could ride the boats in the lake for an additional fee. I believe the entrance fee to the temple was about 50,000 rupiah and they do take credit cards.

An absolute scam!
Hordes and hordes of tourists being photographed from all angles in a setting that is as fake as possible. A temple that cannot even be visited. Plastic sets, a shabby pseudo amusement park, games for children and ridiculous Instagrammer poses everywhere.
I don't even understand the positive reviews.
Waste of time and energy and money, really very disappointed with this stop here, there are so many other beautiful places to discover.

75k entrance which is more than most temples around Bali. Very different from other temples, it has more of a “national trust” feel about it. Temple, coffee? Restaurant, gardens, kids areas etc.

Additional things you can do there for more money - e.g photo spots, petting zoo, owls etc.

The area is pretty and we had a nice time but it is a trek from the areas most tourists stay in so if travelling this way I would plan other activities to go alongside. I wouldn’t travel all this way for just this

Spending time on site, including lunch, was 1 hour and 30 minutes.
The temple was on the lake and had a nice atmosphere.
If you go deep inside, it will take some time to explore, but if you just want to have a quick look and take some photos, it will take about 30 minutes.
If you have a few days to stay in Bali, it might be worth going.

Passing through during our stay in Munduk, we stopped at the Ulun Datu Bratan temple.

We can only confirm the other comments, the temple is crowded and has completely lost its main interest (a place of worship). The place now seems more like a kitsch photography park mixing flower gardens with an Instagram spot…

The temple is still very beautiful despite everything, but you will find other much more authentic places in Bali!
