Took the south Ubud tour as my partner, although cycles at home, was feeling a bit anxious about riding here. Thhe staff were super friendly and very helpful. All equipment was provided and the converted bikes were a new one to me. I've ridden mountain bikes, I've ridden an e-bike/scooter. This made me wish I'd had one of these on some of the trail back in the UK. The bike didn't feel all that heavy, obviously heavier than some decent hard tails due to the addition of the battery and motor, but fine for this sort of ride. The ride took in some loveley views through rice fields, getting to see local people at work, as seeing the water flowing through the irrigation system. There were a few sectionson the road, mostly they were uiet but there was a climb up a fairly busy stretch. But pull back on the accelerator and pedal and you'll be up in no time! The ride finished with a nice lunch, great if you like local food or a liking for the South East Asian/Asian tastes...probably less so if you're not a fan of spice.

Some of our family wanted to know why I booked a trip 2 hours from Ubud to see rice terraces when there were terraces right nearby. The questions stopped when we got there! Amazing, beautiful, vast -and few tourists. The e-bikes make it easy -but I would say it's for teens and up, b/c some of the roads / paths are very bumpy / uneven. Something you will be really glad to have done. Talk to the guides- they have a lot of good info. The lunch they serve- including red rice from the local paddy- is really good, but may be challenging for unadventurous (Western) eaters.

Our family of 5 ages 8-13 really enjoyed this trip. The trip starts at a coffee plantation where you are given a pancake breakfast and tea and coffee samples. The coffee is unique as it passes through the gut of a mongoose before it is washed, roasted and crushed. We then drive to the start of the bike section and are suitably fitted with safety helmets and bikes. The ride is 99% downhill so not taxing at all. Two guides work in tandem to manage traffic pinch points and pot holes. We made a number of stops on the way and learnt about traditional Balinese life, temples, schools and farming. The tour ends with a great buffet lunch in a very beautiful setting and a much needed cold Bintang. Highly recommended.

My husband and I did the down the Mountain bike ride which included a visit to the coffee plantation, a local swing, village and compound, temple and then finally a wonderful buffet lunch at a restaurant that I could only describe as having the vibe of a winery amongst the rice fields !! This tour is a must do in Ubud. Our guide was super knowledgeable, happy, energetic and spoke great English. we got breakfast, a snack and a gorgeous lunch all inclusive for the equivalent to $55 NZD each. Amazing !!!

If experiential travel is your thing then this is the activity for you. Located at the marvel that's Jatiluwih rice terrace, this is an hour of immersive and thrilling cycling experience. The cycling tour starts off along easy tracks, with gorgeous and lush green rice field views till your eyes can see. It then moves to a downhill track, and finally the most difficult (at least for me) uphill track.  The instructor explains everything well before you start the expedition. My instructor,  Kadek, was a super sweet girl who patiently led me along the route, stopping for photographs at breathtaking spots.  They provide safety helmets and a bottle of drinking water. This activity lets you experience the beauty of Bali's rice terraces as well as 'off the beaten tracks' up close and personal. You can do it at your own pace. The uphill cycling was difficult for me. Kadek patiently helped me out through it. Sigit from their office was very prompt in responding to queries on what's app even before we booked this tour.  This is a completely non-touristy thing to do in Bali and was without a doubt one of the highlights of the trip. Would strongly recommend this activity as well as Green Bikes. They operate in Ubud as well as Jatiluwuh.
