Saw a movie here a short time ago with my wife. Concession prices aren't bad and the theater seemed clean. We felt like we were in the middle of white trash central, so be aware of that kind of crowd if you want to come here.

My husband and I like this cinema. It's not as crowded or loud as other local cinemas. Parking is easy. The workers are friendly. We once had a problem as we wanted to see a particular film but that film wasn't working. The owner gave us free passes to return. The theater is old and has interesting features. Prices are lower than AMC. I would recommend a visit!

Great small town feel. The same person who sells you your tickets ($5 matinee, $7 weekday eve) will likely be the same one who sells you popcorn. Showing the latest movies, without the latest high-prices. Clean, fairly modern, decor. A fun place to watch a movie.

There are three reasons to visit this theater - less expensive, not crowded and easy to park. They have has cool neon signs outside in an art deco style. Also, the sound system isn't blasting like AMC. There are also several eating spots in easy walking distance. Don't tell anyone about it so it won't become crowded. As Yogi Berra said,
" Nobody goes there anymore, it's too crowded."

If you live in the Independence area, you have an alternative to the AMC Independence Commons theater. The Pharaoh is a nice little theater on the Square, it only has 4 screens, but they show the current top movies, including in 3D. The ticket prices are dollars below the competition and the concession prices are far below what you pay at other theaters.

The kind of theater you remember as a kid. We love the popcorn. We are seniors, and there are no stairs to navigate in the dark. They also have 5 dollar Wednesdays. The staff is very kind.

Visiting the area and thought we would see a movie. Went to check the listings and every big chain around was either sold out or you had to reserve a seat. Found this little gem of a theater and was greeted right at the ticket window with a friendly smile and polite conversation, not a ticket kiosk that only spits out a ticket. We even got to wakk right in and choose our own seat right in the theater. Long live the small town movie houses.

This has been one of my favorite theaters for about 25 years. Compared to some of the larger movie venues in the kc area this one usually isn’t crowded, and the staff are very friendly. Very inexpensive as well. I will definitely keep going back.

We have gone to the Pharaoh a few times, but it seems like the screen doesn't offer enough light. It feels too dark, but it may have been the particulars shows I've seen. Still, it's a great way to avoid long lines at the theatres with 20 plus movies going on at one time, and it's historic and in the Independence Square area.

Interesting art deco style in front of the Truman Courthouse building; plenty of parking around the square.
