My 13, 14, and 15 year old grandchildren needed a break from their “virtual” schooling, so we took the City Limits tour. What a great way to learn the history of Independence from the early pioneers, Civil War, the infamous James brothers, to the life of President Truman. I was concerned my technology dependent crew could put their phones for an hour, but I needn’t have worried. They were enthralled, and talked about it all the way home. It was a perfect history lesson and a trip they won’t forget. Thanks Ralph, and Bess and Miss Margaret - two beautiful Missouri Mules.

We had a delightful full city tour of Independence, riding in a covered wagon pulled by the famous Missouri mules. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and entertaining as he filled us with stories about the sites we passed by. Independence has a rich history from pioneer days, as well as being the home of Harry and Bess Truman. Well worth the ticket price.

Riding through Independence in the mule-driven covered wagon, while listening to Mr. Goldsmith’ narration was simply magical. His storytelling skills are off the charts. His ability to entertain as well as tell history captivated us for the entire 90 minutes. It felt like a real-life Time Machine, as we were transported back in time. The history lessons told were fascinating, meaningful, and relevant to today. Both myself and my husband very much enjoyed it and felt like we learned a lot.

Ralph has been leading tours for 23 years and he is such a pro!! His knowledgeable entertaining commentary kept our group enthralled. He was patient with the children aboard. We learned so much about the history of the area. He obviously appreciates the mules who were hitched to our wagon and treated them kindly. This tour is an excellent value!!

My husband and I were looking for a day trip so we looked up things to do in Missouri and found Pioneer Trails Adventures in Independence Missouri. It was a 2 1/2 hour drive from our home, so we called and made a reservation, drove to Independence and made it in time for the 2 pm tour. We thoroughly enjoyed our 90 minute adventure in the covered wagon. The driver/tour guide was very informative about the history of that area. It was a very pleasant experience. After the tour we walked around the area and visited a few little shops before heading to a restaurant then heading home.

Pioneer Trails Adventure is a fun and relaxing way to receive an overview of the history of Independence, MO! My guide was full of Pioneer era mid-Western charm, was extremely knowledgeable of the local history, and more than willing to answer any questions that I had. The ride was quite comfortable, thanks to the bench cushions and the fact that the tour was conducted on paved roads. I took the longest tour offered and would recommend it to individuals of all ages. Great fun!

What a fun. We did the 90 min. tour just for the 2 of us. We walked out of the old jail and were headind to our car. Then I took a second look and we had plenty of time. The price was reasonable and taking in account it were only us on the carriage it was almost cheap. It is not, but it is not expensive and it so much fun. He talks like we were in the past. English is our second language, but we understood him very well. We visited a few places a day before this tour it was interesting to see things from a different view. Do not miss it.

We had the best time on the Pioneer Trails Adventure ghost tour! We have lived in Independence for a few years now and finally decided it was time to check it out, as we see the wagon and mules in the square all the time. We were pulled by a team of quarter dales, and they were amazing. The tour guide was so fun and animated, and I am still surprised by how many stories and how much history he packed into thirty minutes. We're hoping to take the long tour, and tour the jail and check out the books on the history of the area as well, it was fascinating. Absolutely worth every penny!

We had some time to kill before touring Truman's home. We saw Ralph outside of the Visitor Center and hopped on for the 45 minute tour. This was such a great experience. Ralph is a fabulous storyteller. We learned a bit of local history, about westward expansion and Pre-Civil War conflicts between Missouri and Kansas. I wish we had been able to take the full 90 minute tour.

After we visited the Truman home, we came back and toured the jail next to the visitor center. They had Ralph's book (Mule Dynasty) for sale. Having enjoyed the tour so much, I bought it and have already read it. It was interesting and an easy read.

I hope I will be able to go back to Independence at some point and take the full tour.
