We tour Frontier Independence where three trails began, two Civil War battles were fought and one President began his march to the White House.

We give tours from single parties to tour buses filling a wagon train of covered wagons.

We did the medium-length tour that took us out to see the swails. We had a great time, our tour guide (Ralph I believe) had the perfect mix of funny stories, facts, and a very interesting take on history. He never went too deep on any topic. He was clear, easy to understand, and involved our whole group. Our children... More

My family went to Independence while we were vacationing in Kansas City. Independence is just a few miles away. The Pioneer Trials Adventure was wonderful. Ralph (the guide) was so knowledgeable and fun. I would recommend to anyone but especially to anyone interested in history. While we were there we also visited some of the other sites. You can stay... More

After viewing the film about President Truman we decided to go for a mule drawn wagon ride around town. We were given a great guided tour full of history. There were jails, historic homes and mills, and plenty of great stories. We were amused and educated. After learning about the different buildings, restaurants and statues, we took our time visiting... More

We only had one day in Independence, MO and wanted to makes the most of seeing places related to the history of the town especially the wagon train departures and President Truman. Pioneer Trails really helped us to do that. The guide was knowledgable, friendly, informative. The trip seemed unrushed and touched on the key moments of Independence history. We... More

My wife and I on a whim decided to take the covered wagon tour of Independence. We were pleasantly surprised at the knowledge and personality of the owner and tour guide Ralph. We were unaware of the amount of events throughout history that occurred in Independence, history classes don't come close to teaching what occurred in the community over the... More

Two wagons pulled by mules arrived in the back parking lot of the Higher Ground Hotel to load us for an exciting tour into our past, thanks to Ralph. He kept us totally captured with his history stories and amusing 'antidotes'. A must do in Independence!

This is a wonderful (and fun) way to learn the history of Independence, Missouri, while traveling back in time with Ralph, our tour guide, in his covered wagon pulled by his team of mules, Bessie and Mary Margaret, helped him navigate the streets of Independence. Ralph shared many, many stories of the pre and post Civil War eras. My husband... More

While my friend & I were inside reserving a tour of President & Mrs Trumans home, our husbands were just outside making plans for after the tour.. The Mule drawn Wagon Tour, with Pioneer Trails Adventures, of the lesser known parts of this small city. I was skeptical but on we go, this turned out to be one of the... More
