To be very honest, some friends from ours that live out of town wanted to visit the mansion while they were here for Christmas after finding the mansion on some historical website. It sounded kinda cool, but we were not thrilled to drive to Independence (we live more south Kansas City metro). The mansion is located in a odd, almost... More

The tour guide was quite knowledgeable of the history of the mansion, as well as interesting. While giving the history and information of the 'Music Room', he actually played the old 'pump' organ and I was surprised that it still sounded so good. The one thing that was a 'negative' was we had already started our tour, and while in... More

Unique Xmas decorations in each room that change annually. Spooky-looking place, though. Admission fee $6 was reasonable.

The Vaile Mansion is quite a sight, especially with its Christmas decor. (It will remain open until Dec. 30.) The Mansion itself is well worth the price of admission, even if not decorated for the season. And the tour was well conducted.

We toured this mansion and were not disappointed. It was beautifully decorated for Christmas and it's quite an impressive structure. My only disappointment was we arrived right after a tour had started so we were instructed to jump in with that group. Doing this made us miss out on the beginning story of the home given by the guide. Our... More

We visited the mansion during their Christmas festivities. This is a must see. The decorations were absolutely stunning.

The crafting of this 100+ mansion is a testimony to generation of true tradesman --I am still in awe of the beauty and grand details. Thank you for preserving her beauty. Our visit was cut short due to an alarm going off--but I would love to come back. So much precious history here.

I had seen photos of the Vaile Mansion and was impressed. Our visit there did not disapoint. Although there are few original pieces, they have done a great job of refurnishing with excellent period pieces. Our guide was great and he really seemed to enjoy interacting with us.

The house is very interesting, furnished with period pieces - but few (if any) are original to the home. Only access is by guided tour, which can be a bit dry, but it's worth your time and money to see.
