The Truman Library and Museum is an excellent presidential library (we've been to about half of them) and well worth going to Independence to see. He presided over a very dramatic period of US history and made momentous decisions with long-lasting impact. He also may be the last President who got elected to the office without having amassed wealth. He... More

This was very interesting place to see many things I learned about Harry Truman. Only complaint I have was gentlemen taking our money was rude when asked about a discount card.

Nestled among the quiet hills of Independence, MO, Truman Library is also home to his museum, research and grave sites. This is a very nice museum, showing the life and times of President Truman. You start out with a short film, telling about his parents and his life on the farm growing up. It tells the history of a man... More

This is great for a tourist with a history and library interest. Attended an event for the day but was able to see a little of the library and history. Very nice visit. Pay attention to the signs for parking and entrance. A little tricky but otherwise a great historic and educational visit.

Not sure what to expect so this was a great visit. It was Constitution Day so there was no admission. They also had a neat presentation. They had two men who have both heavily researched their roles as John Adams and Thomas Jefferson. These actors conducted a press conference of sorts. They took questions...they knew their stuff. Quite a large turnout... More

This was my third Presidential Library and by far my favorite. Much smaller than the Kennedy and Johnson Museums, the Truman neatly sums up his life, presidency and the times he experienced in succinct, engaging exhibits that are good for both the casual visitor and history buff alike. The architecture is simple, tasteful, and embodies the life and man it... More

The fourth presidential museum I have been to and it didn't disappoint. Full of many interesting exhibits and artifacts, quite a learning experience. You will spend 2-3 hours here at least if you want to take in everything. Everything from the beginning to the end was great. I also learned a lot about Truman's only daughter who is buried here... This is a great library, I strongly encourage everyone to visit the Truman library. Cons I encourage more high tech interaction. I would like to have known other programs he set up that are not recognized. Pros this library has a lot of information and focused on the decision to drop the atomic bomb. Not every man is capable of... More
