Good Swings
Mar 2020
We were taken here on a day tour from Candidasa. The free swings for the kids was the best of it. There was also a few cows that that kids like to pat. The chocolate is less than kid friendly. The ambience of the place is pretty cool.

It’s just ok

I wouldn’t go out my way to come here but if your in the area and your killing time its ok. Great view of the ocean and some unique buildings. You have to be there by 9am if you want to see the small chocolate factory at work.

What a waste of time
Nov 2019 • Friends
A total scam. Don't waste your time and money here. It is wrong for people to promote this place, to begin with there is no chocolate factory here, and all you are offered is some chocolate on a plate to taste. We ordered something to drink but had to waste it, it was so bad. As for the so called eccentric buildings, don't bother

Lower your expectations and be delighted 😀

Come on people! This is Bali at its most authentic. It’s not a Hollywood chocolate factory. It’s a small traditional village which will charge you $1 to see their way of life. Charly is an eccentric American who has lived in Bali 20+ years and become an icon. Have a chat with him, feel the warmth, spirituality and hospitality. This is not a “tourist spot” like WaterBom or Kuta Beach; this is true Balinese village life in all its unkempt authentic beauty. See it before it becomes commercialised.

Good view... that is all.

I do not like doing this, I am not someone that leaves reviews. However i need to be honest to people coming here.
Only come here if you want to take photos.
Cute huts, a good view, and swings.
My friends and I awkwardly walked into a few huts. Nobody there to serve us, we eventually were served and ordered ice chocolates and they were not very tasty.

I don’t get it
Oct 2019 • Couples
I’m not sure what we visited at Charley’s! Was an amazing location however the factory, chocolate and soap were fairly comical. We left with tears of laughter in our eyes at the obscurity of a chocolate factory in a coconut plantation (there were no coco plants in sight, no sign of chocolate production and chocolate that came out of cellophane bags) and a random goose pecking our feet. All the drivers seemed extremely amused by the Europeans that were obviously enthralled with this place. Not for us!!

Lacking the love
Sep 2019 • Family
Went here based on reviews I had heard about form awhile back.
What we got was a operation that is lacking guidance and interest from its staff .
Lady gave us a 5 minute talk on the type of chocolate they make and what was on sale , there was no one making chocolate, there was more action going on out back with workmen working on a tower out back which locals tell me is illegal but the American owner is going ahead anyway.
Met the resident goose who loves tourists , this place could be a gem with a bit of love , direction and care.

Go there only if 1st of April
Aug 2019 • Family
This was the biggest April fool’s joke in August. I am still trying to explain my kids what just happened today and that the factory was probably swallowed by the ocean the night before. All that was left now is some ropes hanging from the trees that look like swings. But I don’t think they were even worth sitting on. I still can’t believe people have reviews about this place that are more then one star. It was an utter disappointment. My wife and I looked at each other and started laughing. The driver of the hired car had a funny smirk on his face as soon as we started driving on the dirt road. This place should not be listed as an attraction.

Not much there
Jul 2019 • Couples
Not much there.
Couple of Huts. One has a little cafe, another has a lady that tells you about how they make the chocolate. It is a 5 min talk.
There is 3 swings you can use and a boat you can sit in and watch the surf.
Lots of rock and rubbish on the coast line. We did see a turtle in the water.
The cold chocolate was nice ($35,000).

Unless I’m in the area I would make a special trip there. Not really a great place for kids.

Looks to still be having some construction going on.
