One of the best dive centers I've seen. They work strictly by the book and maintain extremely high standards, while giving enough opportunities, trust and freedom to divers.
Dug is a fantastic instructor and dive buddy. I did 3 day dives and 1 night dive with him. He had sharp eyes and found many interesting animals for me to photograph. I think we both enjoyed our dives very much (hopefully I'm right about him) and came back cheering and absolutely thrilled every time.
My wife had booked an introductory dive. For the first time in my life, I saw a dive center mandating someone to first dive in the pool before going to the sea. Also she ended up just snorkelling as she reported some health issues and the center did not see her fit for diving. We really appreciated that, and thankfully, got a full refund despite cancelling in last minute.
Overall, absolutely amazing team and I wholeheartedly recommend them.
Thanks Lena, Dug and team.

We loved it so much we extended to 14 days.
Well run centre, friendly and helpful, warm smiles.
Diving was awesome, we found 4 Rhinopias, Pygmy seahorses, Harlequin and Tiger shrimps just to name a few.
Dug our dive guide was great and enjoyed the dives with us working hard to find those special critters sometimes only found in Indonesia. (Thanks Dug)
Thanks to all the staff for making our stay and holiday one to remember 😃

If you are in Amed in Bali. Please go to Lipah for the most wonderful time. There is a place called Bayu cottages (which is fantastic). if you walk from the hotel to the beach, you will find at the bottom of the path a group of Balinese sitting under a bamboo shelter. if you want snorkel, goggles, and fins please ask for Nyoman (Robin), he is an honest wonderful man, and his partner Marde gives the best massage in Bali. Nyoman uses the funds from renting the diving gear for food for the family, and Marde uses the funds she gets from the massages to pay for their 3 daughters education. when I was there last month Nyoman, Frank (my 12 year old son) went out on a fishing boat diving at the Coral Garden. On this particular day the current was unusually strong, and I got into a bit of difficulty getting back to the boat, and i became a bit fearfull about my boys safety. So Nyoman suggested that we let Frank swim and dive in front of us and we would swim "shotgun"..5 metres behind and on either side of him. Nyoman is a very good swimmer and he treated my son like he was his own.

I planned to do my open water SSI at this dive centre with Lena as my dive instructor and I was very looking forward to it, but this excitement soon made place for a huge shock. I got put in front of a DVD instead of proper personal lesson with some tips and tricks. During the swimming pool lessonsthe dive instructor was very impacient and her pronounciation of English was quiet bad, so I had too focus twice as much and when I asked for further information or explanation she would sigh and roll her eyes. Fortunatelly I finished my SSI somewhere else and I'm very very happy I did so! A big difference. The rest of the staff was excellent and the hotel was brilliant!

I did my ssi course with this dive center. I arranged everything via mail before arrival, because of my short stay.
The Dive school is very reliable, everything was prepared for us.
The DvD's were rather old, but I didn't mind that. The rest of the equipment was very good.
It was very cool that a photographer went on our last dive with us and we got great pictures.
The only problem for me was the dive instructor, lena. She seemed very nice on the first day. On the second day, pool diving skills, she was very impatient. I was with my friend who is more experienced and I was apparently to slow for lena. Her german is quite good, but you have to concentrate to understand. Which doesnz't help with her being impatient. The next days with the ow-dives she was the same. Impatient. Instead of taking some of my "fears"'serious, she made fun of me. (E.g. First encounter with a shark)
Also very annoying was the smoking, she smoked while sitting in the dive school and on the boat.
I feel like it's very important that you have an instructor you trust and get along with.
So choose wisely, you have tons of dive schools in amed.
So all in all I can't complain about the school organisation or the equipment. But wished I had a better time with an instructor who is patient, funny, interested and takes care.

I had been living in Vietnam for a year (2007-2008) and met up with my best friend from the States to do this diving course in September 2008. I had it recommended to me from someone in Vietnam and I'm really glad we went. We were the only 2 people in the class and so we got lots of one on one attention. The package included the hotel next door and some meals. We were very pleased with the price and felt it was the coolest thing we ever did. One of the dives was a US ship wreck off the coast of Bali and it was amazing! Everyone was very polite and I feel Bali is one of the most tourist friendly places in SE Asia you can travel to. The instructor was super cool and we felt we got top notch service all around...sorry we did not visit in Feb 2013, but tripadvisor wouldn't let me choose the correct date we went...

Amed Dive Center - is only few steps from our room. They use a wooden boat with cover and ladder; larger and much more convenient than using outrigger Jukung (small wooden fishing boat, just enough to put your butt) which is typically used by most of diving operator in the area. The drawback, they only have one boat; so the dives selection will have to compromise with other divers or snorkeler, if any.
The resort's house reef - Ghost Bay, is located right on the front of our room, is an artificial reef with small sculptures made of bottles, wheels, concrete, terracotta pots, steels, wood trunks etc. No colorful and healthy corals; but it is a wonderful place for underwater macro photography. The dive site is gentle slope and flat bottom with some steep slope in places.

We do definitely try our best to accommodate our guests every requirement so we are happy that everything went smoothly for you. Myself and my boyfriend went diving with Amed Dive Centre at the end of May. My boyfriend did his advanced course with Lena and felt really well supported. It was great because it wasn't too busy which meant that we got to fundive on our own. The guides also continue to dive until low on air with my longest dive lasting 93 minutes at the Liberty Wreck. So you really get your value for money. The diving is also good with leafy scorpionfish, ghostpipefish, pygmy seahorse and plenty of turtles. The dive guides were very professional and the equipment was mostly brand new. We would definitely recommend.

We chose this hotel to get our PADI diving certification. The hotel was very clean, nice rooms, the restaurant was good, but does have limited selection. We spent 6 nights there, did our diving, first in the pool, then in the sea. It was quite convenient to just walk down to the beach from our room, or the small dive area. After a few dives we went out in the boat, nothing fancy, but great boatman, guide and teacher altogether. Gedung, one of our guides was my favorite, always smiling, positive if you did not get it right the firstt time, helpful, tanks are heavy, sometimes waves rocking you and the boat. When we got to Cairns, AU to dive the Great Barrier Reef, our previous experience of only 6 dives, made us realize what excellent training we had, after watching a couple "experts", mess up and touch the reef. Oh, and the price was definitely right. I would reccomment off season not so many divers. And make sure to dive the US Liberty.
