Set in an area near Pattimura Park the gong is part of a monument with steps leading up to it. The gong has the world nations flags and symbols pertaining to the major world religions. The gong is one of several worldwide, the concept of them is to remind people of a fundamental need for peace and security.

You don't miss anything if you don't come here. It was part of our 3-hours-tour through Ambon. I missed a littly bit history explained in English. The "museum" only consists of a few photos without any English (or even further Indonesian) explanation.

This monument was erected after a long struggle among the population groups on Ambon. This conflict was eventually resolved and the parties recognize and support each other. It is good to remember at this time that conflicts can also be resolved in other ways.

It is actually a monument with big gong. On this gong several nation flags printed on it. It is surely the good place to take pictures and selfies. But sadly though we have to pay five thousand rupiah for each person entering the park, the condition of the gong is already need some attention. The authority should give it fixed and facelifted.

It's among World Peace Gongs in Indonesia, and it is built by the government to reminding everyone that living side by side oeacefully is better. Interestingly, this site was considered amongst the safetiest points in which the communities could meet and do their things. Each future of the gong represents Indonesian Independence Day, August 17th, 1945.
