Kota Government Museum is located in the Brijvilas Palace near the Kishore Sagar Lake. it has wide range of collection of documents, artifacts, archeological objects and heirloom items. One of the most important characteristic of the museum is the art and craft of Hadoti region. In fact, this museum is the perfect place to experience the art and culture of Rajasthan.

Go to Kota by all means...people dont see tourists there and are most friendly.
Which is not necessarily the case in all places where there are no travellers in India.
The museum is most interesting.
And for the royal place ...well you get a private visit. Since noone goes there, someone will bring the keys to open it and take you around!
Beautiful view
Stunning chambers, particularly the master bedroom.
Lovely lovely miniatures! Kota shool of painting was quite remarkable.
The city itesel is build around a big lake. Nice.

Government Museum is a popular tourist attraction of Kota located inside the Brij Vilas Palace, close to Kishore Sagar Lake. The museum has an exceptional collection of old coins, ancient manuscripts, and Hadotio sculptures.

The Museum has an interesting collection of statues, manuscript and old coins which shows rich culture of hadotiregion (The area under kingdom of kota&bundi is known as hadoti as rulers belong to hada clan). Some statue/sculptures displayed here are old even of Gupta Period date back to the 4th centuryespecially noteworthy is an exquisitely sculptured statue brought here from Baroli.
There are two sections in the museum
one is of Archeological section – Here you can experience an impressive image of vardhaman as well as fantastic depiction of Ramgarh dancing pairs. Yupa pillars of 3rd century and the rare ancient coins of different dynasties ruled over kota
other is Painting &Manuscript – Here you can see miniature paintings, astrological, astronomical and vedic works. Various appareals, customs, handicrafts and lot of royal jangels.
Please note Photography is prohibited. A prior permission has to be obtained from the Director of Archaeology and Museums, Jaipur. I was also not aware about this camera restriction otherwise would have been obtained the approval, So was able to take photos of only outside area of museum.
Timings: 1000 hrs to 1700 hrs. Entry Fee: Rs.10/- Closed on every Friday and Government holidays.
