The area surrounding the lake is strewn with glass pieces of liquor bottles, wrappers of namkeen, plastic bottles, cigarette packets and shockingly even condom packets.
Such a lovely place littered with remnants of human activity….it fills you with shame and despair.
Why can’t we keep such places neat and tidy?

Tungarli lake is good to visit only in the rainy season. In winter it is but dried up. There are no boating facilities in the lake either.

First of all road to this lake is not good. I had read somewhere in the reviews and I experienced it myself as well. While going uphill, near the top, there is a steep slope and it's very hard to drive, so beware if you are driving on your own. Also, the road is extremely narrow, while coming down, there was a big bus coming in opposite direction and we had very terrible time to cross that bus.

Also, there is nothing much to visit. Perhaps, we didn't actually up towards the dam, but we were so frustrated going up till there itself, that we didn't want to walk further to explore. There is absolutely no sign-board or nothing to show the path. We went asking people and finally had reached there. I'd say it's complete wastage of time.

Monsoon is the time when Lonavala blosoms into a natures abode. Tungarli lake gives you that serene feeling of being one with nature. The greenery, fog/clouds, hill and lake in the backdrop is a sight to behold and not to be missed. There are various pockets around this lake to enjoy a quaint family sitting.

I LOST MY BROTHER IN THIS DAM THIS WEEK ...💔

Check the new in times of India
" man goes missing in tungarli damn lonavala"

As reviews given below say the lake is calming , quite & also looks in the picture given..
But as I have been there it's NOT AT ALL calming... it's eeire & looks haunted...
I Lost my ELDER BROTHER in that lake..😭
Local police wasn't able to find the body for more than 6 hours... the water in this lake has a strong current that pulls uh down in the centre which is 50 fts atleast..
The local police
say "every month.. ATLEAST THERE ARE TWO CASES OF DROWNING..😔.
I request the authorities to install a danger zone fence around the dam

A 10-15 minute ride from the Lonavala center will get you to this beautiful spot away from the hustle bustle. In December it area has already begun to dry up but it is still a lovely spot to spend between 10-60 mins.

There are no eating spots or shopping areas around so please carry your own water.

If you do decide to have a picnic please carry your garbage back with you. The only thing ruining such a lovely spot is people littering.

Parts of the road are in a bad condition so be prepared for that.

A must visit location in Lonavala. the view is good & pleasing to eyes. The over all surrounding areas is pretty good & relaxing. The over all experience is much more enhanced in the monsoon months.
