Temple in the open
Oct 2020 • Family
A beautiful temple that is in the open and houses Sri Maha Ganapathi.

Visited this temple post Covid lockdown days and very glad to see the temple authorities imposing strict distancing and sanitisation measures.

The temple on route to Dharmasthala, a small detour from the main road. But a must visit.
Food served here at the temple anna dasoha (food court).

Worth Visiting
Dec 2019
Believe this is the only temple where lord ganesha is in Open with no temple structure. Its about 18 km from Kukke. Took Auto(tuktuk ) from kukke , road is good but from the highway its 1 km inside which needs repair. Did darshan at 1 noon . They serve lunch as prasadam . you can buy bells and tie with your wish at the temple premisis . Its was not crowded on 19 Dec. The Auto charged 100 Rs/head. There are many pipeapple sellers on the way and its worth trying. One can buy many spices at reasonable rate at the temple. Its lesser known place but worth visiting. Thanks

A unique place of visit
Oct 2019 • Family
It’s a unique place where you find the Ganesha idol places in the field with no structure or temple cover ... The entire stretch is filled with bells where people tie bells for every wish they make ... As a daily offering as Prasad we get beaten rice mixed with jaggery and coconut which comes at a price of 70 INR but is yummy .. The place is before Dharmasthala temple and easy to find else any one can guide you to the venue .. Enjoy the atmosphere and the offering ... 👍👍👍 Superb

Powerful Ganesha
Jul 2019 • Family
Nearly 800 years back, one of the temple nearby this region, which was administered by the local royal family was destroyed in the war. The idol of Ganesha, worshipped in this temple, was found by cow herd boys. These innocent boys carried this idol with bhajan, pooja all along the way to the present place of worship and placed the idol under the tree. Everyday they offered Ganesha with tender cucumber as naivedya, performed prayers, chanted bhajans. Hence from then, this shrine derived the name SOWTHADKA. (In kannada Southe(Cucumber) + Adka (A vast plain). As per the hindu vasthu tradition, Temples are built with Gopuras facing towards east, idols of diety are installed. . The uniqueness of the place is Lord Maha Ganapathi is out in the open field without a ‘Garbha gudi’ and temple structure. It is surrounded by fascinating greeneries and open round the clock for offering prayers. This is about 16km from Dharmasthala. The temple is decorated with lot of Bells mainly, offered by worshippers who have special wishes. One can find lot of monkeys inside the temple. The temple also serves food to all the devotees in the form of prasadam.

Sauthadka Shree Gante Ganapathi temple
Nov 2018 • Family
Nov 2018 we have visited this temple. This temple is situated around 10 km from Dharmathala on the way to Kukke.

The Garba graha of the idols are kept open to sky. There is no construction of temple over the idol. The devotees tie brass bells near the temple as a vow. I could see thousands of brass bells making sound around the temple which was pleasant.

The Sri Mahaganapathi is said to be very powerful deity and worshipped by thousands of locals.
