Avoid if your itinerary us tight
Jul 2021 • Solo
This place is about 15 minutes walking distance from both Gandhi chowk bus stop and malik e maidan.

There is no entry charges here.Nothing to see here and the place and surroundings is dirty.

Whoever takes care of Taj bavdi must ensure that at least the area inside Taj Bavdi be kept clean.

Visit this site only if you have lots of extra time in vijaypura else this place can be left out from your itinerary.

Waste of Time
Dec 2019
It might be a historical place, but it was closed when we went there. Moreover the place is unkempt and dirty. You'll probably waste your time going there.

Give this place a miss, it's awful
Nov 2019
The Taj Bawdi is a water tank in built by Ibrahim II of the Adil Shahi dynasty in memory of his wfie Taj Sultana. Originally built as a source of water for the city as well as use for recreational activities, the Taj Bawdi is currently in a state of neglect. It’s located in an extremely filthy area, the smell as you approach the bawdi makes it obvious that the water is foul and stinks like it’s full of waste water, The surrounding area is full of trash, animals with cows, dogs and pigs wandering free and using the area as a toilet.

Give this place a miss.

Taj Bawdi
Dec 2018 • Family
Taj Bawdi is an ancient water tank built during the era of Adil Shahis. It was the main source of water earlier and the tank is said to be at least 100 ft deep. Presently the place is not maintained well and one can give this place a miss if short of time.

Poorly maintaned
Dec 2018 • Friends
Taj Boudi is located by narrow lanes and hosts a water tank and arch shaped walkways. The place was closed for public when we went and not accessible.

Bijapur city
Dec 2018 • Family
There are no proper sign boards to reach the spot. The city is full of dirt, pigs and the worst tourist place. Gol gumbaz is known for architecture. But the people making noises for hearing echoes is terrible. Very very bad experience. Its better not to visit the burials, waste of money and time

Taj Bawdi - One of the great water tanks
Aug 2018 • Family
One of the great water tanks dedicated to the wife of Ibrahim II, Taj Sultana is the Taj Bawadi, which is now a beautiful monument of Bijapur. There are rest houses in the east and west of the tower. The depth of the well is more than a 100 ft and it is said that a stone thrown from one end would never find its way to the other. Taj Bawadi was the main source of water during the reign of the Shahi rule. The Taj Bawadi is wonderfully built and the design elements on the well attracts a lot of visitors. There are many more Bawadis in Bijapur and Taj Bawadi is the prominent one. The water in the well currently is not maintained and lacks cleanliness.

Undergoing repairs
Mar 2018 • Couples
Check with the guards at Gol Gumbaz before going there as it was undergoing repairs and was closed for general public at end March. One can see the tank from behind the closed grill gates. Found it very unclean.
