My favorite zoo for families. We live 1.5 hrs away from gulf breeze but we have a membership to this zoo because it’s so much better than our local one. It’s very clean and all of the animals are obviously well taken care of. You can pay a small fee for a “feeding bundle” which lets you feed giraffes, birds, and farm animals. We have a 1.5 and 3.5 yo and despite us going multiple times a year, they never tire of this zoo. The cafe is overpriced but we always eat there anyways because we’d much rather put our money towards a great zoo conserving wildlife than a crappy Burger King or McDonald’s. We usually spend 3-4hrs there each visit.

Loved our day here! We purchased the Giraffe Experience and it was well worth it to get so close and learn about them privately. The zoo has lots of unique animals, including many different species of monkeys and owls. The train ride gets you close to orangutans, gorillas, rhinos and hippos. The food wasn’t bad either. Definitely recommend!

Three generations vacationing in (nearby Navarre) looking for beach alternative. The drive from Navarre Beach to the zoo was only 15-20 minutes. The entry/admission experience was smooth and friendly. You can get a feeding (for bird, goats, giraffe) package added for $12. You will notice how clean everything is, as well as how active the animals are. We were there 90 minutes, including the 10 minute train ride. It was a perfect (amount of) time for grandparents and grandchildren. There are a few animal exhibits only visible on the train ride. The zoo staff was friendly and exhibited nice manners.

We enjoyed strolling through the well kept zoo and interacting with friendly staff. But prices were expensive for the size of the zoo. Train ride was included at no extra cost. I like to buy postcards but not in this gift shop where postcards were $2.95 each.

This delightful private zoo is a true gem on the panhandle Gulf Coast. Just 50 acres, so it's an easy walk for small children and their grandparents. Well laid out, much of the pathways are shaded, (great in Florida in the summer!) where there isn't a tree canopy, there are many places to duck into the shade for a bit. And, I especially appreciated that even in "normal" times, there were hand sanitizing stations or wash basins EVERYWHERE! The exhibits are ample sized and well maintained. As I said, this is great to make a day of it with parents, grandparents and kids up to 12. For older kids who can't life their faces off their iPhones, they'll probably think it's lame and too small. So if you're looking for an experience to rival the San Diego Zoo, Cincinnati Zoo or a Universal, Six Flags or Disney Theme Park, adjust your expectations accordingly, you won't find it here. You also won't find 100,000 of your new BFF's trying to simultaneously share the experience with you and it won't cost you $600 to get a family of four into the park for the day! There is also a nice train ride (extra fee) and a play area for little kids, too.

This is the best zoo I've been to. Nice size for a few hour visit. The animals are active and there were lots of babies. There are so many opportunities to feed the animals and interact with them. Feeding the birds was magical. I loved the board walk and train ride. It seems like this zoo is really trying to make a pleasant life for the animals they have. The crowd was small so it was a nice break from the craziness of Destin. It is a little pricey, but if that money is what makes for a beautiful zoo and good life for these animal, then it is worth it. It was our favorite activity in a week long stay in the area.

This zoo was almost closed a few years back and had been poorly maintained. Now a new day has come for this little zoo and new owners have taken great pains to restore and improve the property. Bottom line is if you were disappointed in the past, come back and enjoy the changes. The grounds are beautifully maintained. The animals are well cared for and content. Visitors can feed and pet various animals and even a Llama who just might decide to spit. Some of my grand children's favorite pastimes were feeding the giraffes and alligator as well as the bird aviary. The bird enclosure is full of multicolored parakeets that fly free and love to nibble on seed from specially constructed popsicle sticks. One of these sweet little guys decided he loved my grand daughter and kept trying to stow away in her jacket pocket. The paths through the various exhibits are smooth and strollers and wheelchairs have no difficulty maneuvering. There is a wooden tower to observe grass land animals such as antelope but is equipped with ramps as well as stairs. A must do on your visit is the train ride. It covers the whole park and offers a close up view of many species. There is also a picnic area to rest and indulge in your appetite. My only hesitation in giving this attraction a higher rating is the cost of admission. A family of 4 could easily spend $100 in an afternoon between admissions and food to feed the animals which of course is on every child's list of favorite things to do. However, let's face it, zoo are expensive to run and animals must be well cared for. The parking lot is packed during the summer and winter months there is a lot to see and many animals to interact with just beware of the Carmel. He likes to swipe the entire cup of feed out of your hand and run off in a mad dash very pleased with himself.

We had a great time on our annual visit during our spring break trip. The zoo had lots of upgrades since last year, and we enjoyed the progress made. We spent about 2.5 hours here and our sons (7 and 4) were engaged in the visit the whole time. We didn’t purchase the food to feed the animals this time and that did not detract from our sons’ experience.

For a small town zoo, this zoo does not disappoint. If your looking for a large zoo with hundreds of animals, large food and drink options, and a place to spend an entire day. This isn’t it. If you want to see some great animals, up close for most, in a very nicely arranged and mostly shaded park this is it.
Animals looked well taken care of, the thing that stands out to me is how many had babies! Not an indication of stress or mistreatment in my book.
Also saw a negative post from someone from St Louis. I am from Houston area where we too have a large zoo, though not free, and St Louis does have a good one. I’ve been. But like ours you will not see the large crowds, having to park many blocks away from zoo, or feel like you have pounded pavement for an entire day! This was a fun well cared for zoo with some great animal interaction.
Giraffes were the best!

This zoo was a great way to spend a few hours (or more!) enjoying an up close experience with the animals. The animals were all very friendly. My kids enjoyed feeding the ducks and goats but most of all they LOVED the giraffes! The giraffes were very interactive and so gentle and patient. My daughter loved feeding the budgies and would have stayed in the aviary the whole day. It is worth it to get the adventure pass for the train ride. It isn't long but you get to see some of the animlas- like the hippos, rhino family, orangutans & gorrilas that you can't see otherwise. We ended up spending 3 hours there and saw everything. There are plenty of places to enjoy a picnic if you don't want to eat at the cafe. It can be a pricey experience but remember that your dollars are going to the care of the animals as well as conservation efforts. So, get the adventure pass & buy the food bundle, take your time and just enjoy.
