- Steven PPhiladelphia, Pennsylvania10 contributionsAbsolutely wonderful placeTarangire was the first highlight that we discovered on our safari in Tanzania. We actually arrived will little expectations because we thought it's just a nice stop on the way to Serengeti but by the time we arrived it completely changed our mind. We started from Arusha where our guide Damian picked us up early in the morning for our safari. Everything was we'll arranged by Tanzania Horizon Safaris thanks to Elizabeth who answered all our questions patiently and in all details. She told us that Tarangire is special but little did we know how right she was. We saw a large elephant herd during the first hour of our stay. We managed our way along the river and swamps which was kinda tough during the rain season but Damian always found a dry path and maneuvered us safely. I loved the sight of the huge baabab trees everywhere. It was a very exhausting but amazing first day and we were rewarded with a beautiful sunset as we arrived to our lodge near Lake Burungi.Visited March 2023Traveled with friendsWritten April 28, 2023
- Lighty DKilimanjaro Region, Tanzania5 contributionsSafari to Home of Boaubab Trees TarangireI had the privilege of observing a diverse range of animals, including majestic elephants and graceful giraffes, up close and personal. Tarangire National Park in Tanzania is an incredible wildlife sanctuary that exceeded all my expectations. The park's breathtaking natural beauty, with vast grasslands and magnificent baobab trees, provided the perfect backdrop for an unforgettable adventure. The guided game drives and walking safaris allowed me to fully immerse myself in the park's wonders while learning about the conservation efforts in place. With well-maintained facilities and designated picnic areas, Tarangire National Park offers an exceptional experience for nature enthusiasts and wildlife lovers. It truly captures the essence of Tanzania's awe-inspiring wildlife and picturesque landscapes.Visited May 2023Traveled with friendsWritten May 26, 2023
- ArchieGlenmoore, Pennsylvania5,326 contributionsAbsolutely must do in TanzaniaThis national park was our first visit in our safari tour. We checked off the majority of the animal sightings on our list. We went with easy travel for a private tour. Our guide was knowledgeable to take us on two game drives morning and evening. We saw zebras. Giraffe, hippo in the water, lions and cubs twice. Elephants, all kinds of birds, baboons, monkeys, wildebeest, Baobab trees, buffalo, warthog, kudu, and impala. It was absolutely incredible experience. We had a roof up and enjoyed sunset and sunrise. They have clean toilets at the gate and picnic areas. We packed a breakfast from the Sopa lodge where we stayed. Definitely need sunglasses and Binoculars. It gets really dusty. The animals sometimes are far down from the road. Get plenty of water!Visited June 2023Traveled with familyWritten June 24, 2023
- James WStockholm, Sweden4 contributionsIdeal Stop From ArushaThis park is only two hours from Arusha town and it is such a wonderful nature reserve. Thanks to Angelino Adventures (local travel company) who recommended this park as our first stop before exploring serengeti and ngorongoro. If you love elephants Tarangire is a must visit. You can see plenty of elephants very closely. You will also see lions, zebras, cheetahs, gazelles, impalas, wildebeest, pumbas, ostriches, monkeys, e.t.c Thanks to our guide (Ben) who is highly experienced in wildlife and their habitat. Asante Sana.Visited June 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten July 12, 2023

We would see even more at Serengeti and Ngorongoro. Nonetheless, Tarangire was amazing and worth visiting.Visited July 2023Written August 16, 2023
- HexyGloucester, Massachusetts1,110 contributionsA wonderful National Park for WildlifeI was familiar with the Serengeti and the Ngorongoro Crater but had not heard of Tarangire National Park before my recent Safari in Tanzania. Well, it was a spectacular place for wildlife viewing, specifically elephants. Aside from an abundance of animals, there were clean, inviting picnic areas and restrooms as well. By the second day in the park, I had already seen four of the Big Five and just loved every minute of it.Visited September 2023Traveled soloWritten October 2, 2023

There are a lot of elephants, antilopes, zebras, giraffes. We saw lions eating a zebra and even leipard up in the tree. We can highly recommend this national park. We were 1,5 days in this park and it never was boring. Down south at the swamp there were soo many animals. Unbelievable.Visited September 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten October 5, 2023

The food was top quality and the chef will make you special dishes if you request it. I know it was inconvenient to limit shower times but they are working to rectify this problem. Because they are on public land, any construction projects have to be approved my the govt..Visited September 2023Traveled soloWritten October 7, 2023

First i wanna thank "Angelino Adventures" for providing us with the best guide (Peter) who was very knowledgeable, charming and very professional.
Tarangire is truly an amazing place and worth a visit. We saw many animals from, zebras, gazzelles, lions, giraffes, waterbucks, ostriches, and many more but big herds of elephats was something special. Seeing the interaction between elephants families is actually a lifetime memory. They came very close to our vehicle and we were a bit worried but our guide told us to just relax and stay quiet and i couldn't believe the calmness of these massive creatures.I totally recommend Tarangire National Park to all safari lovers but please dont forget your insects repellent as some places of the park has annoying tse tse flies.

This was our second time with Halisi African Adventures and it was perfect. Everything went seamlessly. From communication with reservations, payments, pick-up at the airport and the actual tour was seamless
We booked 2 days safari to Tarangire and Lake Manyama and everything was perfectly
We were very lucky that the company managed to get us guide Frank again. It was great to see him again . His effusive charm, vast knowledge and great driving skills impressive made the trip very special.
At Lake Manyara we were lucky to see tree climbing lions and had an awesome time at Olduvai Museum.
Halisi African Adventures organizes the best accoms and I better review them on their pages

We saw hundreds of elephants here, lots of babies, lots of activity, playing in the water, 'fighting', etc. On the way to Serengeti. Two nights was the perfect length of time here. Not many big cats (saw one lion, heard someone saw a leopard) but plenty of antelope, elephants, and water buffalo. Lovely scenery with baobabs and river running through it.
elephants not as abundant during the rainy season, we saw over a hundred in December, August is supposed to be the best month, which also coincides with the river crossing time in the Serengeti...making August the best month to go to Tanzania. (unless you want to see wildebeest birthing which is February)

We arrived in Tarangire after a few incredible nights in the Serengeti. Compared to off-roading in the wilds, Tarangire felt more structured as one has to keep on the roads, and thereâs fewer wildlife spottings in general and more vehicles. On the Saturday we went it was rather busy at the entrance and lots of families were on a day out. This park also has the huge advantage of being able to go on a walking safari, which we did with a park ranger. It was an incredible experience and would highly recommend! The other things we did see - majestic baobab trees, and of course the plentiful herds of elephants, were completely magical. The highlight for us though was the Lemala camp we stayed at which is located deep in the park with no other lodges close by. Truly an elephant heaven!

Tarangire was our first game drive, and what an incredible experience. Ostriches raced along side our jeep, elephants crossed our path, and so many beautiful birds and other animals. Our excellent Gosheni guide William has a keen eye, and spotted my favorite bird, the Lilac-Breasted Roller; he also enlightened us about the huge termite mounds that you will see. There is a really nice picnic area and restroom for lunch breaks in the park. We highly recommend starting your safari at Tarangire and staying at the Acacia Tarangire Luxury Camp.

We Just returned from an amazing and memorable safari trip to Tanzania. Halisi African Adventures have done an excellent job.
We booked 4 days Tarangire, Serengeti and Ngorongo Crater and everything was superbly organised and we had the most amazing driver/guide, Frank. He was a true professional, with a great sense of humour, very knowledgeable of all the places we visited, the animals, the plants, the Maasai people and their culture.
We had a walking encyclopaedia with us. Always on the ready to help/advise/look out for us, he also inspired confidence in driving through the "Tanzanian Massage" roads as he called them.
Thanks to Our safari guide, we saw the BIG 5 and either very close up or fairly close up. it was just perfect.
Halisi African Adventures made this a very special and memorable holiday and we will always be very grateful.

We loved this park! Our travel agent recommended we come here, and we are so glad we did. One of the most moving moments of our trip was when several herds of elephants came to the swampâs edge at the same time so that we were watching more than a hundred elephants rolling in the mud, drinking, spraying themselves with mud, and playing at the same time. While we did not like having to stay on the roads, it didnât matter because there was so much wildlife to see even from the road. While the roads near the park entrance were fairly populated, we rarely saw other cars once further into the park.

I find it hard to find the exact words to describe how amazing our trip was.
It started with the smooth booking Halisi African Adventures, they took time to understand what we wanted and then created an incredible itinerary.
We were partnered with guide John who is excellent in all aspects of safari. Such a careful driver, excellent in spotting wildlife and above all a likeable personality.
His friendly and outgoing mature made him the perfect companion for the trip.
We visited Tarangire,Ngorongoro Crater and Serengeti National Park, we were very impressed by the quality of the lodges and camps booked. We were perfectly hosted in these exclusive places.

Excellent safari, tons of animals everywhere we rode. We were able to get close to them in our jeep, since they are used to people watching them. They are never hunted in this area, so they are not afraid. It allowed us to take great photos up close and to sit and watch them interact. It was not hard to spot them, many elephants with babies, tons of wildebeests and zebras. Our guide was able to spot lions and even a leopard. Many beautiful birds as well as many other animals. Reserve is beautiful with many areas to explore. Tanzania is a great place to go on safari. It is not as crowded as other places and the people are so nice and accommodating. It is also a very peaceful country.

Your visa will be good inside all Tanzanian territories for the duration of the visa. You only need one visa. It is stamped into your passport. It is NOT a separate document. The visa is valid for entry into Tanzania for the length of your trip. When you apply for the visa, you will be asked for your first entry date into Tanzania and your final departure date out of Tanzania. Have a great trip!

No, as a matter of fact I saw very few. I wasnât bothered at all, even without bug spray. But my travel agent suggested using a citronella oil blend to keep away flies. The regular bug spray works well against everything but flies!
Hope you have a fantastic trip. Mine was amazing!

My wife and I are planning our trip and were curious. If after seeing the Mara, Serengeti, Ngorongoro and Lake Manyara, would you choose Tarangire or Amboseli if you could only do one. Why?
Thank you.

That's difficult to answer. I would choose Tarangire. We saw more animals in Tarangire than Amboseli. Amboseli was very dry and the water holes/lakes are slowly drying up. Our driver stayed close to the main water source and we didn't see the same variety of animals.
Tarangire is more scenic especially if you drive into the interior of the park. Varied topography, lots of elephants, some lions etc.
BTW we didn't see many animals in Ngorongoro crater. Again, very dry, the 2 lions we saw looked starved (ribs & hip bones showing clearly) and the rhinos were hiding in the foothills .where the ranger specified roads don't go. Serengeti was amazing thought. Have a great time.

Hi, umakantamin. What would you like to know about this attraction? This NP is known for elephants, did you see the big cats lion, leopard and cheetah. Plan for 2 days here, 2 days at Ngorongoro and 1 day at lake Manyara in December 3rd week.

Hi - we saw leopards, lions, and cheetahs in Tarangire. The leopard was up in a tree and there were many safari vehicles around it - so I'm guessing it was rather unusual. We spotted a cheetah mother and cub from far away. We definitely did see many more of the big cats in Serengeti.
