- AntoinetteVISassenheim, The Netherlands568 contributionsBeautiful park, highly recommended! What a beautiful park! We spotted many elephants, from old bulls to young babies, which we thought was very special. The little elephants bathing and playing were especially fun to watch. Giraffes, Ostriches, Impalas, monkeys and many other animals were also discussed. We didn't see any cats here, but that didn't spoil the fun. Picnic areas were well maintained and the toilet facilities were clean. We also made an evening safari here which was very special. The walking safari that was sold to us was a complete drama because of... the gadflies, the armed ranger also said that they are not recommended at this time of year (February).Visited February 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten February 18, 2024
- Chris WLeeds, United Kingdom11 contributionsAmazing elephants! They call it the elephant park and it really is! Absolutely stunning. At one point we saw around 30 elephants. Very few vehicles in February. Lots of giraffe also and lucky to see a pride of lions and buffalo. Would recommend the walking safari, very informative.Visited February 2024Written February 24, 2024

It was breathtaking landscapes and a diverse wildlife, where we managed to spot the Big 5 plus other incredible creatures. Our safari guide where extensive knowledge enriched our journey, making each sighting a learning experience. The accommodations in Ndutu, Ngorongoro and Serengeti were all very good. - Lotte d2 contributions3 day safari in Northern TanzaniaKihindo Tours arranged for us the perfect trip to the Tarangire National Park, Ngorongoro Crater and mount Meru. Everything was nicely arranged and the company made a very good price for us in combining the climb of the mountain and the safaris. We had our own private chef who gave us the best Tanzanian food. Overall we had a very lovely trip! The contact with Kihindo Tours is very easy and really fast!Visited March 2024Traveled with familyWritten March 13, 2024
- Harry C9 contributionsAmazing Tarangire!!!Our safari with Tanzania Horizon Safaris was the perfect way to unwind after conquering Kilimanjaro! Starting at the Tarangire River was thrilling – we spotted so many animals drinking and playing by the water's edge. Our guide, Godbless, was a true maestro of the wild. His keen eyes never missed a beat, leading us to some incredible sightings. And the Maramboi Lodge was like paradise! In the evening, we relaxed by the lake, sipping on refreshing beers under the stars. The view was simply breathtaking. Tanzania Horizon Safaris made every moment unforgettable, from the excitement of the safari to the tranquility of the lodge. Thank you, Godbless, and the entire team, for an unforgettable experience. - Lucie JUnited States3 contributionsWe had a truly incredible experienceWe had a truly incredible experience with Halisi African Adventures, visiting Tarangire, Lake Manyara, Serengeti, Ngorogoro and Zanzibar. Brighton was the most amazing guide and truly made our Safari special. Fun, professional, friendly - his expertise and knowledge of the animals and parks meant we caught some amazing moments on camera, including a 200 strong elephant migration. His definition to finding the animals was second to none too! It was a very special moment to visit Tanzania as we often had the whole parks to ourselves! The lodges were stunning and Brighton put together the perfect itinerary for us. Overall we would not hesitate to book with Halisi African Adventures and want to thank them for one of the best weeks of our lives - we were so well looked after! We hope to meet againVisited March 2024Traveled with familyWritten March 27, 2024

- Anthony LucasItaly10 contributionsAmazing Tanzania experience SafariMy friends and I went to Tanzania this year. We booked a 5 day Safari to Tangernia Park, the Ngornogorno Crater and Serengeti, with a local company called Nafika Tours. They arranged transportation for us throughout our trip, including airport transfers and hotel bookings. Early in the morning, our travel guide, Edween, picked us up in a spacious LandCruiser for the safari. The vehicle was clean and had a cold refrigerator, which was very useful. Edween was friendly, punctual, and knowledgeable. He always considered our preferences when driving and spotting animals, even stopping for videos and offering to extend our viewing time. On the first day, Edween explained our itinerary, gave us tips, and surprised us with a birthday cake and traditional garments for my husband and me. It was a thoughtful gesture that made the experience even more special. Our four days Safari went smoothly, which made me, as a planner, very happy. Nafika Tours is a great company with excellent guides like Edween. I highly recommend them for a memorable safari experience.Visited February 2024Traveled with friendsWritten March 28, 2024

It was the perfect start to our Tanzanian adventure. The park is beautiful, with stunning landscapes and so many elephants. Our guide Patrick was fantastic, describing the connection of things from flora and fauna, pointing out animals and sharing interesting facts about the massive baobab trees. We saw lions, giraffes, and zebras up close! Everything was well-organized. The wildlife and scenery were unforgettable!Visited December 2023Traveled with friendsWritten May 18, 2024

Tarangire ranks as the 6th largest park in Tanzania. Located in the northern Manyara Region of Tanzania, it covers an area of 1100 square miles.
The Park is drier than the Serengeti, but its vegetation is greener due to its Swamps, Acacia Woodlands and Aquatic Forests. The prominent feature of this park is the giant Baobab Trees. These can live up to 600 years, and store 80 to 135 gallons of water. During the dry season, it sheds all its leaves to conserve that water. The locals call it “the upside-down tree” at this time.
More than 250,000 animals enter this Park during the Migration. Yet the crowds are lesser because the wild life is very seasonal. That worked out well for us.
The lifeline of this area is the Tarangire River (from which the park gets its name). It traverses across the park, and flows northwards until it exits to pour into Lake Burungi. We watched a whole bunch of animals (zebras, warthogs and elephants) line up and drink from its banks. It was fascinating to see a huge elephant suck up gallons of water and spray it on himself.
The Park is well-known for its high concentration of elephants – Yes, we saw many herds of then all over the place. We also encountered Zebras, Giraffes, Hyenas, the magnificent Elands, Lions, Thompson’s Gazelles, Dik- Diks, Buffaloes, Banded Mongoose, Baboons, and so much more.
The park is also home to 550 bird species. Thankfully, we had a guide who carried a book with him, and was able to point out a variety of beautiful birds to us – Yellow Collared Love Birds, Superb Starlings, Lilac Throated Rollers, Buffalo Weavers and many more.
Another thing that the park is famous for are the massive Termite Mounds scattered everywhere. The abandoned ones become home to the Dwarf Mongoose. We saw a bunch of these everywhere we looked.
We had a very memorable visit to this park that was really worth it. Do go – at least once in your life time. It will certainly be worth your while.

My wife and I have just done a 6-day private safari in 4 major parks in Tanzania: Tarangire, Ngorongoro, Serengeti, Lake Manyara.
Our Driver speaks French and a cook is with us to prepare good meals in the evening in our hotels. I had made several price requests and I chose TUMA which I found on a forum.. Tuma works alone with its well-appointed 4/4 with fridge for cold drinks taken to recharge smartphones..and its cook..both of unparalleled kindness. Because the icing on the cake, TUMA’s exceptional service costs us half the price of large organizations.
If anyone is interested in our journey and would like TUMA contact details, leave a message and I will respond. Yes I forgot the essential...we saw lots of animals...the Big Five...the elegance of giraffes, lions, buffaloes, leopards, rhinoceroses...wildebeests, gazelles , zebras and so on...
My wife, who was not very enthusiastic about the idea of spending 6 days in contact with animals, took to the game and came back with lots of stars in her eyes....

I find it hard to find the exact words to describe how amazing our trip was.
It started with the smooth booking Halisi African Adventures, they took time to understand what we wanted and then created an incredible itinerary.
We were partnered with guide John who is excellent in all aspects of safari. Such a careful driver, excellent in spotting wildlife and above all a likeable personality.
His friendly and outgoing mature made him the perfect companion for the trip.
We visited Tarangire,Ngorongoro Crater and Serengeti National Park, we were very impressed by the quality of the lodges and camps booked. We were perfectly hosted in these exclusive places.

We spent two nights and three days in Tarangire NP with African Scenic Safaris and had an incredible experience. We stayed at the NP campsite and were rewarded with black-faced monkeys, a troop of baboons, a herd of mongooses, and even warthogs easily viewed from a safe distance at the campground. We had our own cook who did amazing meals. We didn’t just drive around and view the wildlife but had visitors pass through the camp (we always felt very safe). It was a very real experience, with no binoculars needed. I would highly recommend camping at least for a few days to really get a true safari. We had a walking tour with a ranger and a night drive to spot the nocturnal animals. Our guide was very knowledgeable about the wildlife and birds and knew some great spots far from the other safari vehicles.

We Just returned from an amazing and memorable safari trip to Tanzania. Halisi African Adventures have done an excellent job.
We booked 4 days Tarangire, Serengeti and Ngorongo Crater and everything was superbly organised and we had the most amazing driver/guide, Frank. He was a true professional, with a great sense of humour, very knowledgeable of all the places we visited, the animals, the plants, the Maasai people and their culture.
We had a walking encyclopaedia with us. Always on the ready to help/advise/look out for us, he also inspired confidence in driving through the "Tanzanian Massage" roads as he called them.
Thanks to Our safari guide, we saw the BIG 5 and either very close up or fairly close up. it was just perfect.
Halisi African Adventures made this a very special and memorable holiday and we will always be very grateful.

Tarangire was the first highlight that we discovered on our safari in Tanzania. We actually arrived will little expectations because we thought it's just a nice stop on the way to Serengeti but by the time we arrived it completely changed our mind. We started from Arusha where our guide Damian picked us up early in the morning for our safari. Everything was we'll arranged by Tanzania Horizon Safaris thanks to Elizabeth who answered all our questions patiently and in all details. She told us that Tarangire is special but little did we know how right she was. We saw a large elephant herd during the first hour of our stay. We managed our way along the river and swamps which was kinda tough during the rain season but Damian always found a dry path and maneuvered us safely. I loved the sight of the huge baabab trees everywhere. It was a very exhausting but amazing first day and we were rewarded with a beautiful sunset as we arrived to our lodge near Lake Burungi.

We had an unforgettable and wonderful safari in Tanzania (Tarangire National Park, Serengeti, and Ngorongoro Crater) organized by the Halisi African Adventures. We would especially like to recommend our safari guide John, as well as our driver and companion Filex! Both speak very good English, and John also speaks good German.
Throughout the safari, the two of them worked well together as a team, were highly competent, and very considerate when it came to the animals.
We always felt safe and well taken care of. Thanks to both of them, our trip left nothing to be desired!

We have been a group of 5 people having a great safari week seeing all big five thanks to our knowledgeable guide from Halisi African Adventures who doing a fantastic job.
He knew where to go before many others. He could predict the behaviour of the animals he wanted to show to us and drove to places where he expected the animals to go to.
This allowed us to see lions, leopards, cheetahs hunting and many other animals in Tarangere, Serengeti and Ngorongoro National Park.
The places to stay over night were all good, clean and with a wide variety of offered food given the fact that there is NO infrastructure in the area.
We had memorable safaris experience and we definitely recommend Halisi African Adventures for Tanzania Safaris.

We had an absolutely wonderful time at Tarangire National Park as we saw all big 5 here within the first 2 hours on safari. We were hoping to see some wildlife on our 6 days trip and where simply overwhelmed by the density of wildlife here! Our guide Sabas did a great job to spot all animals from afar. Absolutely impressive! We booked with Tanzania Horizon Safaris and they truly took good care of everything from start to finish. Thanks to Elizabeth and Dorothee for everything!

This was our first African park, and we were just in awe of all the herds of animals. Especially the elephants, but also zebra and impala and so many more.
We have so many stories to tell of what we saw. The watering hole. The impala, zebras, wlldebeest, elephants, and warthogs some down to the water to drink. Then they all start to leave. There is a lioness creeping around the hill, but the animals see or sense her, and they leave. She drinks alone.
The next day, we see a lioness resting in the shade of a tree. A herd of elephants approaches. The largest bull elephant walks directly toward the lioness. She gets up and slowly backs away, with the elephant following. The rest of the family of elephonts moves into the shade of the tree as the lion retreats. As our guide said, "See who is the real king of the jungle."

Your visa will be good inside all Tanzanian territories for the duration of the visa. You only need one visa. It is stamped into your passport. It is NOT a separate document. The visa is valid for entry into Tanzania for the length of your trip. When you apply for the visa, you will be asked for your first entry date into Tanzania and your final departure date out of Tanzania. Have a great trip!

Hi from Dallas, TX. My family is going here in a couple of weeks. Were the tse tse flies really bad? What about mosquitoes? Glad you had a great time!
Written June 25, 2019
No, as a matter of fact I saw very few. I wasn’t bothered at all, even without bug spray. But my travel agent suggested using a citronella oil blend to keep away flies. The regular bug spray works well against everything but flies!
Hope you have a fantastic trip. Mine was amazing!

My wife and I are planning our trip and were curious. If after seeing the Mara, Serengeti, Ngorongoro and Lake Manyara, would you choose Tarangire or Amboseli if you could only do one. Why?
Thank you.
Written December 1, 2018
That's difficult to answer. I would choose Tarangire. We saw more animals in Tarangire than Amboseli. Amboseli was very dry and the water holes/lakes are slowly drying up. Our driver stayed close to the main water source and we didn't see the same variety of animals.
Tarangire is more scenic especially if you drive into the interior of the park. Varied topography, lots of elephants, some lions etc.
BTW we didn't see many animals in Ngorongoro crater. Again, very dry, the 2 lions we saw looked starved (ribs & hip bones showing clearly) and the rhinos were hiding in the foothills .where the ranger specified roads don't go. Serengeti was amazing thought. Have a great time.

Hi, umakantamin. What would you like to know about this attraction? This NP is known for elephants, did you see the big cats lion, leopard and cheetah. Plan for 2 days here, 2 days at Ngorongoro and 1 day at lake Manyara in December 3rd week.
Written April 30, 2018
Hi - we saw leopards, lions, and cheetahs in Tarangire. The leopard was up in a tree and there were many safari vehicles around it - so I'm guessing it was rather unusual. We spotted a cheetah mother and cub from far away. We definitely did see many more of the big cats in Serengeti.
