Meru is an elephant park with large herds (50+) that allow you to get somewhat close to observe them. I feel like I saw more elephants here than in Amboseli. Also, there is good general game viewing (rhinos, waterbuck, reticulated giraffe, grants gazelles, gerenuk, vulturine guinea fowl, Somali ostrich) plus some harder to spot animals such as lesser kudu, grevy’... We spent four days touring Meru national park. It is a beautiful park with different topography. There are forests, bush, and open plains. The rains had been good before our arrival so there was lots of grass. That made it harder to see the smaller species but we were still able to see many of the larger animals and there... More

because it takes some effort, there are very few visitors; I may have seen five over three days. You are rewarded with vast herds of elephants and all kinds of other wildlife. I saw eleven rhinos, including four that were on or on the side of the road. It does get hot; so be prepared.

We love Meru National Park. It is hardly used (it is a long drive to get there on not great roads, or a fly in) but that is what we loved about it! It took us close to 8 hours from Nairobi with few stops. During the two days there we probably saw a total of ten cars and most... More

The park is very well marked so even without a tour guide we are able to find our way and see a number of animals such as elephants, buffallos, giraffes, zebras etc. Although we did not spot the Rhino perhaps due to our timing it was a great expereince

Where can you still be within a great group of elephants and you're the only car on that spot it feels priveleged to be in this huge park. One of my favourite parks in Kenya.

Meru National Park is a treasure. The game watching is superb, and we never came across any other vehicles aside from those from our lodge (Elsa's). We saw so much wildlife: giraffes, zebras, rhino, elephants, cheetahs, crocs, hippos and all manner of antelopes and birds. It's a rugged place and I had an amazing time fording the rain-swollen rivers amid... More
