Making Memories at Fowler Clay Works!
Oh how I love Fowler Clay Works. Mike and his family ( all the staff are like family) love to share with you their beautiful craft of making pottery. When in Gatlinburg taking a pottery class at Fowler is a priceless memory for you and your family and friends. I have several mugs and bowls I had made through the years. Each of these pieces of pottery are precious memories of a wonderful time spent with a loving teacher and special family and friends that I will never forget. While there you have to look at the beautiful unique pottery they create. Everytime I go to the shop at Flower Clay Works I'm amazed at the artwork created in their pottery. I always take a piece of art home with me. Mike is usually at the pottery wheel creating new art and loves for you to ask questions. Make sure you stop by when in Gatlinburg. Take a class, grab some beautiful art, and make some new friends.

    Great Experience
I enjoyed the entire experience. From the minute we walked in all artists/employees were nice, polite and cheerful. We started our class on time and immediately our instructor put the whole class at ease. We had no previous experience with a potters wheel or raw clay yet she helped each of us hand craft pieces of art! Our class was a diverse mixture of ages and gender. It was definitely worth the time and money!

    Must visit
This was the one thing on our trip I was looking forward to doing and it did not disappoint. The pottery class started on time, everything was prepped before we arrived, appropriate covid precautions were in place (dividers, sanitizers, distancing between stations etc). Our instructor was friendly but also very patient and very encouraging, with a great sense of humor. She makes you feel proud of your work however perfectly imperfect it is lol. Our family had a great time bonding and making memories. We can’t wait to see our work in 12 weeks!

Quaint little shop that has beautiful pottery for purchase and you can pre-schedule a pottery making session. We were very lucky to get a same day open spot and the experience was great. The teacher explains step by step and then helps you make your own cup or bowl. Masks and a divider made it a safe and enjoyable experience. Highly recommend

Took the pottery class with my friend and it was a lot of fun. Learned a lot about pottery and how to manipulate clay into your liking, this place is locally owned and full of great character. If your ever in gatlinburg Tennessee and want to learn a little thing or two about Pottery or even see some great pottery art then this is the place to be.

My husband and I decided to take the pottery class while we were staying in Gatlinburg. As soon as we walked in we were treated by nice friendly smiles. We were able to talk to everybody and hold lovely conversations while we waited for our pottery class to start. Our pottery class teacher, Rachel, was amazing and helped guide us in making our own bowls. Once we were done with our class we purchased some mugs from the shop. I then found out that have an online store that they will ship right to your door! Me and my husband will always take a pottery class from them every time we visit Gatlinburg now and we will definitely be ordering pottery from them in the future!

I've been coming to this area for many years yet somehow never explored the arts community. Just before my trip I started looking for new experiences. I've always wanted to try making pottery and when I discovered Fowler's, I immediately booked a class through their online booking (very easy). Yesterday I took the class and absolutely had the best time. Rachel, our instructor was AWESOME, couldn't ask for a better teacher. I'm traveling alone but there were three other ladies in the class that were traveling together and were super friendly and fun. It was informative, hands on and an overall wonderful class. Met Mike Fowler as well as the ladies in their lovely shop and everyone was so welcoming. I will plan to come back for another class each year and recommend this experience 100%.

I loved this shop so much, I went there twice in one day. I have seen pottery all over the country and this shop honestly has the most beautiful items I have ever seen. I purchased two tea lights designed with moons and stars, and the other with trees. I purchased a butter tray and.gorgeous fan. I’m have never been a big pottery fan but this shop converted me. Mike and the staff there were friendly and so amazing to chat with. This will be my first stop when I’m back in the area.

Catherine was an awesome teacher for our pottery class. If you are ever in the Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg area, you have to give pottery making a try. We should receive our bowls through the mail in a few weeks. I can't wait to see the final piece.

We loved our experience making old fashioned pottery at Fowler's Clay Works. We live locally but wanted to act like tourists for our anniversary and went to Gatlinburg for the afternoon. I pretended to have a Boston accent and asked a billion questions about all the 10,000 moonshine companies while my wife shirked in embarrassment. In the end we ended up with cool souvenirs and great laughs.

Just did the pottery class with 2 teens. We made bowls, and had a fantastic time. Kylee was our instructor she was detailed and very helpful. Mike and his wife (apologize for not catching her name), were inviting as well. The shop has BEAUTIFUL items! So even if you don’t want to make your own- you can find wonderfully crafted pottery pieces at very reasonable prices. It will be on my list when I return to Gatlinburg.

A friend and I took the pottery class at Fowler's today. Let me preface this by saying, I am in no way craft talented, it's just not my thing ... but Rachel is such an amazing instructor that even I was able to make a bowl. She's super patient, friendly, and personable. If you have a chance, spend an hour or two and $40 and have an experience.

As for the pottery shop, Mike Fowler and his team produce some of the most beautiful pottery. I have visited his store every year, for 4 years, and I take a piece home each time.

We had planned to make this an annual thing for my wife and I after our first experience last year was so much fun. It didn't turn out that way this year.
Last year the young instructor showed us what to do and took us through the first few steps as she watch and gave us tips. After we got the basic shape we wanted she let us play with the shape as she moved on to the next person.
Completely different this year. Different instructor and frustrating process. She was very hands on taking more control than letting us do it. The only time our wheel was on (since she controlled it) was when she was sitting in front of us, shaping it with us. It turned out to be more her project than ours. She didn't even ask us what shape we wanted.
I ended up with a thin spot (because I was shaping one side while she shaped the other) and she wanted to put a halt to the process instead of wanting to fix it. I forced the issue by pushing the top of the bowl down so it could be reshaped. You guessed it.. she started shaping it again. I threw in the towel. I was done.
Last year we played and shaped for 1 1/2 hours. This year in and out in 45 minutes. I was so frustrated that I don't even want my bowl and begrudgingly paid for the "class".
