This place has been a childhood favorite memory for my husband and he was really excited and anxious to visit again when we were in the area. I am not a fan of haunted houses or scary things but went with him to experience it. It was so scary! Meaning, that it was so well done. I held on tight to my husband‘s hand all the way through. Know that you walk through the house using a certain directional path and actors definitely jump out to startle you. (I’m glad they don’t touch you). So if that is entertaining for you I would highly recommend. The wait to get in and get the house instructions was a little lengthy. There was one group ahead of us (so we had to listen to them get instructions) and one gentleman came through with us. I can’t really imagine how long the wait is to get in when there is a crowd of more people. Seems like it would bottleneck. While there are exits throughout if the scare is too much, they make it very clear at purchase, no money back if you decide you want out during the walk through. Also, very unlikely this house and experience would be accessible to someone with mobility issues. Aside from those issues the experience is otherwise well done, super scary, and my husband was so happy to relive the mansion after all these years!

For the money this haunted mansion was pretty good. The four or five live actors they had did an awesome job chasing us around and made it a worthwhile time. Definitely could have used some more live entertainers however. Overall a fun time and my wife and daughter were definitely scared several times.

We've been going Mysterious Mansion whenever we visit Gatlinburg, always a great experience. When we went on12/30 we didn't know that they had remodeled and updated so it was a completely new and even scarier adventure. It's hard to describe the effort these technicians and actors put into their work but the results will speak for themselves as you exit into the night air with a sigh of relief and exhilaration, wanting to go in right back in but not really wanting to press your luck. This is still the BEST haunted experience in the region. Don't miss it!

So all in al, my husband really enjoyed the mansion. Great actors, good scares, he came out happy.
That said, we stayed next door to the mansion and my 11 year old son and 8 year old daughter kept seeing it and eating to go in. I was worried it was too scary for her, so we spent some time reading reviews together, and perusing the website. I had a feeling my 8 year old would back out once we got to the door, and I was right, and that was fine, we didn’t mind and I stayed out.
My 11 year old son is autistic, but most people can’t tell. He LOVES jump scares, haunted trails and hayrides and gore. This was right up his alley. He got thru the turnstile and into the first room and something caused him to panic in a way I have never seen, despite my husband being there. He ran back out the entrance door bawling. (This kid rarely cries, like once or twice a year, so I was alarmed)
The young woman who was selling tickets just in front of the turnstile kept telling him he had to go back in. First just talking, then yelling. He kept crying and telling her no, and she told him he HAD to and that he could not come out the entrance (though physically, he totally could have).
I was right there trying to calm him and explain that dad was on the other side of the door and could take him out the emergency exit (they have several around the building). He was fully panicked and not hearing anything. She had a family of 3 at the ticket window and they were not deterred by him, but this woman chose to scream at my child to shut up, even though I was right there trying to calm and direct him since she wouldn’t allow him to come out to me, 5 feet away, which, rules are rules and I understand.
I told her “ma’am, he’s autistic, please let me handle him” and she shut up immediately. The family right there were very kind and understanding and I directed my son to come out the entrance anyway, because I did not want to further disturb this family.
I got him outside and calmed him and he wouldn’t talk. Later on I found out he wasn’t scared, he had an anxiety attack, which has only happened once before in his life.
I think she knew she messed up because she kept coming out offering “no scare tours” and wristbands to him and his sister. He didn’t want to go back in. When he was able to tell me why he wouldn’t go back, despite wanting to “be scared” he told me that she made him feel bad and he was scared if he had another problem, she would yell at him again.

So, all that said, parents- make sure you read all the reviews, surf their website with your kids and talk about what they will see- in the end it saved us money when my daughter decided not to go in before we got to the door. Talk to you older pre-teens in detail AFTER the ticketing and safety briefing and make sure they completely understand how to get out, no matter the reason.

We have no issue with losing the money on his ticket, only with the way she yelled at a child that was already being handled by their parent. Autistic or not, don’t yell at kids, deal with their parents.

When we arrived the ticket price was $10 more than listed on the website. I ask about it and was told that it was because of the "special event" for the Christmas holiday. A week after Christmas and they are still charging for that. Ehh. but okay. So we go in and in the first room a disagreeable little goblin breaks character to get on me about not wearing a mask. I noticed under his goblin mask he was not wearing one either. I told him sorry and that I forgot it outside in my coat. He just started a me. Upon entry we were told the rules. Wearing a mask was not among the but not backtracking was. Not to mention the host should have said something before admitting us. The little goblin didn't give me any options so I moved on. Throughout the rest of my party's "TOUR" we saw a total of 2 different actors and all they did was pop open the doors and essentially lead us through. Me and several others in our party got the distinct impression that they were just trying to hurry us up and get us out of there because I forgot my mask. that was roughly $400 of the crappiest Haunted house experiences I have ever had.

After reading a negative review “Birthday Bummer” about not opening until 2, even though the listed hours say they open at noon, I called and the recording said the early spring season hours open at 12:00. As it is March I figured we were in spring, why else would the recording reference spring hours? Welp, according to the unapologetic man posted on the front steps, they “probably won’t open until 2”. When I mentioned the recording and spring hours he said they were still on winter hours and haven’t changed the recording yet. I’m guessing he means the recording from last spring???? They obviously expect to turn people away, why else have the guy posted on the steps...you would think it would be easier to just update your hours. As the other reviewer mentioned parking is sparse and expensive and yes we did pay $10 to park which I mentioned to the man posted outside, to which he just shrugged. And yes this was something my daughter had been looking forward to for her 8th birthday so apart from the frustration of paying for parking we didn’t need because of their poor business practices, my daughter was extremely disappointed not to be able to go to this attraction.

Once in we waited 10 minutes in the family room for others to join our group of 2. Four other people came in and we waited another 5 minutes before the voice told us we could enter. There was a total of 2 actors in the house. The first person in the group got the only scares. Once we went in the whole thing only lasted 10 minutes. For the price I would not recommend.

Walking to the Sky lift and stumbled right across this gem. We saw the bridgeadimg to the Mansion as we were ambling down the sidewalk. My wife doesn't like to be startled, but I told her we were doing this. It has a really creepy exterior and looks sort of out of place in downtown Gatlinburg, which is awesome! She half heartedly objected, but in we went. We paid our tax and slipped our coin into the turnstile. As we walked into the lobby I could tell this was going to be fun. We were directed into a study, and waited with another couple, eventually a third couple entered and we were given instructions. I won't ruin it for others but it starts out really cool, and gets better. Lots of jumps and screams, I just laugh when everyone else jumps, but have to admit I got startled a couple times which is great!

Do yourself a favor and check it out!!

I will add one thing to my review, the carpet did smell like urine. I look at it a couple ways, either they did such a good job of scaring folks they peed their pants, or it's time to do some serious spring cleaning. I will still go back, like I said, maybe others were just that scared!

Legit, how all haunted houses should be. Not a congo line like at Universal's HHN houses. You go with only your group (in our case two adults and two 14 yr old girls), and you have to find your way out.

Some doors are hidden as part of the wall, and while you're pushing on the wall to find the next room, the actors are literally up in your face. (They won't touch you "unless you touch them first.") The Ring girl is fast, and she crawls and climbs like a monkey.

My ears are still ringing from our teen's screaming, and they're still talking about it two hours later. Do it.

A woman who acts as a scary kid in the attraction, was very rude to us and another family, she yelled at us because we got ahead of our group, she told us very very angry that we should stop doing what we were doing and wait for the others and if we didn’t she would escort us to the exit.
At first we thought she was joking but she kept yelling at us, we didn’t know what was happening. We were just playing and looking for exits (that’s the game about).
I yelled at her “stop being rude” she said that if we wanted to go there was a door, yelling and yelling. And then she started to yell at the other family that they where not doing thing it right (playing the game right or opening the right doors of the haunted house) .
I don’t know if that’s normal or that woman was having a bad day. But if she treats everyone like that it’s not ok.
