- Anna RJersey City, New Jersey16 contributionsI LOVE SUGARLANDSI love sugarlands! Came to love them the last time we came in 2016 . They still deliver today. Only $5 for tastings and you get $5 off of purchase when you return your bracelet. Three guys gave us their bracelets so we got like $25 off for my husband and I! You can't beat itVisited October 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten October 3, 2023
- Timothy A1 contributionAwesome tastings10/10 would recommend. Peyton was amazing as our host! Between telling us how to get it, to getting us drunk lol it’s awesome! If you’re looking for an awesome host, go to Peyton’s table! You’re sure to have a great time!Visited October 2023Traveled with friendsWritten October 15, 2023
- Mr. Eats out too muchDelavan, Wisconsin121 contributionsUnique flavors.Neat store! Great theming and lots of variety! They even offer tasting if you aren’t sure what to get! My only issue if they are way more expensive than in the normal liquor store back at home, like a lot more. They also offer a good variety of apparel as well! If you are looking for something to kill some time this is great.Visited October 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten October 17, 2023
- Julie DUnited States3 contributionsFun and Delicious! We took the blended cocktail tour and our tour guide was Hatch. He did a phenomenal job of explaining the history and the process! He answered questions and offered suggestions when asked. He went out of his was to help us find what we were looking for in the store after the tour. We enjoyed the moonshine tasting after the tour before trying the 2 cocktails included in the tour. Trey did our moonshine tasting and was very entertaining and great at his job. For the cocktails, I tried the Peanut Butter and Jelly moonshine straight up and my husband tried the Pineapple Upside Down, next we had the the Bloody Mary and the Cinnamon Toast Cold Brew. The winners for us were the Pineapple Upside Down Cake and the Bloody Mary- we bought the ingredients for both ( and several others)! Thanks Sugarlands!Visited October 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten October 18, 2023

We’ve been several times over the past few years and we’ll be back next year. We have had the pleasure of having Rob and Trey as our bartenders this year and had both of them last year too. I love them cause you can interact with them and have a really good time.Visited October 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten October 21, 2023

Each bar has a specific amount of spots so you don’t feel crowded nor do you feel like you need to fight for a spot. We visited a couple of times over a one week stay. Every bartender was different and the flavors change every day.Visited October 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten October 21, 2023
- Elena G1 contributionOur favorite placeSugarland is our favorite place and Trey is our favorite guy. He takes the tasting experience to a new level year after year. Cant wait to go back there soon. Everyone at Sugarland are so friendly. One of the important thing to us is that Sugarland give the discount to first responders as appreciation for their services. Big respect to them for that.Visited March 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten October 27, 2023

This is one of several moonshine tasting venues. We went to this one based on recommendations from several people we chatted with in town. We weren’t disappointed. Tim was our pourer and kept everyone at our tasting booth laughing with his stories and descriptions of the 12 moonshine samples we tasted. Some were very potent at 100 proof. You knew you had swallowed some alcohol. Others were nicely flavored and a couple were sweet and creamy. The tasting coast $10 per person but can be redeemed for $5 off a purchase. We walked out with 2 bottles. The experience was fun with both Tim and our tasting neighbors. March 11, 2021

There are many places one can sample moonshine in Gatlinburg, but I would highly recommend Sugarlands Distilling Company for two reasons: the moonshine is top notch and Stokes (our pourmaster) was hilarious enough to warrant a special on Comedy Central. From reminding us of high school and college shenanigans, to encouraging us to lick a Floridian to compare the taste of the Pina Colada moonshine, Stokes had all of us bellowing in laughter as we tried 13 delicious shines. And that's the best part; even if you don't get to drink with Stokes, you'll still get to sample very flavorful moonshine. My favorites were Cole Swindell's Pre-Show Punch and the Butter Pecan Cream. I had no intention of buying, but they were too amazing not to leave with a mason jar or two.

It makes our day to read your kind words about our distillery in downtown Gatlinburg! Stokes is funnier than a wagonload of monkeys and always getting our staff with his shenanigans. Cole's Pre-Show Punch and the Butter Pecan Sippin' Cream sure are tasty! If you need any tasty ideas for those jars, be sure to head over to our website. Sips up!

Full disclosure: This isn’t my first review of Sugarlands as we are regulars to Gatlinburg and visit for our wedding anniversary every September as well as random other trips. We always visit Sugarlands. This trip was no different other then we did the tasting 3 separate times during our visit with another group of friends.
It’s a little bit more hectic this year with them having to limit the number of folks inside (thanks covid) so the tastings seem to be sped up a bit in order to get through the crowd that lines up around the side of the building on the busy nights (weekends). They manage it well but make sure if you do a tasting and are considering looking at or purchasing other merch that you do so at that time as you WILL have to stand in line again in order to get back in....... Be patient, they are just trying to do their part to keep everyone healthy.
This time we had Token, Chaser and another guy whose name has slipped my mind (he seemed new maybe? will update if I come up with it...) and they were great. Chaser did a great job interacting with the group as did Token but our bar mates that visit weren’t as “interactive” so they were a tough crowd. (It was a weekend group when we had Chaser, those are the party people. Lol.)
I tell my husband each time, how lucky he is to have me since I’m a cheap date and can get a buzz off a $5 moonshine tasting (those 100 proof will sneak up on ya!).
The mixed drinks in the back are yummy as well but make sure you have CASH for those as they weren’t accepting cards when we were there.
Between the moonshine tasting and the mixed drink in the back that I shared with my hubby, I left quite the happy camper. Lol.
The new Banana Pudding sipping shine is AMAZING! We left with multiple jars.
Side note for Sugarlands mgmt: We have had Justin and BP as well several times in the past and they are our two favorite bartenders! (No offense to the others!) We actually asked for Justin on one of the trips but it was his rotation to work the door. :)

We tried to be first in the door, as it was St Patrick’s Day and the crowds and frustration were only going to get worse as the day went on. We took the $5 tasting tour with Zack/Zak/Zach, which includes tiny shots of 13+ products with Zack stories and information accompanying. We had a blast. Zack/Zak/Zach was great and helpful. Some got a little tipsy. The tasting corral is set up to prevent COVID issues, more or less. Most of the moonshines/cremes/rums were really pretty good, and, as expected, they got better as the session continued. Every bottle in the store is $25 bucks and there’s various discounts and such. The hooch is pretty good and the branding is fun. A later trip to the store a couple days later to replace some inadvertently consumed product revealed the place can get packed, so COVID issues may freak some out. Go early, or go at low population times to avoid concerns.

What an experience! My husband and I went on a chilly Wednesday midmorning during peak season rainy day and decided to do a little shining. Never been to Sugarlands and Wow! Where does one start? Upon entry you need a mask but you can remove it at the tasting table, you pay $5 tasting fee for a wrist band which you can use as a $5 off coupon at purchase (and trust me...you will purchase) We waited about 10min for our turn at the tasting table and that's when the show began! Our taster Taylor was amazing. He was funny, off the hip and talented. Didnt make a mess pouring either which speaks to the level of professionalism of the establishment. The variety. OMG the VARIETY! We had 13 samples and I actually couldn't do them all! EVERY single one of them was smoother than any shine I've had. This stuff is dangerous folks! Especially the cremes! Chocolate, strawberry, butter pecan, egg nog! Ugh! We bought 6 quarts. (Buy 5, 6th is free) and they have us 2 adorable mini mason jar shot glasses as thanks! The apparel choices are a great too! Stickers, patches, jewelry, shirts both casual and business casual. There is glass bottled soda for purchase as well as a full cocktail bar in the back you can sit and enjoy some mixers and learn which whiskeys to use. It's truly an experience and obvious why this 3 year old company is experiencing the growth it is. 60% in the first 2 years should tell ya something! Its hands down the #1 thing to do in Gatlinburg and they earned that title proudly! Thank you again Taylor!!! You were awesome!!! *tours are not being done currently due to Covid*

Abby was our bartender & she did a fantastic job entertaining us! Give that girl a bonus for lifting our spirits (literally & figuratively)!
They made sure to sanitize the bar tops first before allowing the next group to belly up at the bar.
X marks the spot on the floor that you stand on to keep 6 feet apart from the guest beside you.
Each day for $5 you can taste test 12 different moonshines and you can stack your $5 wristband onto more wristbands when you return the next night to sample a different 12 moonshines.
My tip to you s to save your wrist bands worth $5 each until the last night before you leave town & apply them to your purchases. Each band is $5 off & each jar of moonshine is $25.
As of our visit on May 12th the back room bar was closed & they limit the number of people inside Sugarland’s to only 30 (so be prepared to wait outside in line).
Tip your bartender well because they’re hustling for their money & are working long shifts. Sugarland’s last taste testing is at 5:30pm (EST) due to the Covid virus!

came here for our 16th anniversary been here for three days and on the fourth day we decided to visit the Sugarland distillery. It's $5 a person but it's the best $10 we spent this entire trip. You got about 13 small shots of moonshine flavored and Abbey by far we'll have you pissing on the floor not just from the alcohol she's hilarious funny again that's damn money we spent

We had planned on going to all of the moonshine tastings and we had a great time at all of them, but Abbey was such a treasure! She made the entire visit the moonshine was of course delicious, but Abbey was hilarious. She had this down to a science and was by far the most entertaining person we had the pleasure to drink with. If she offered a tour of the city I would pay for it over and over she was just so entertaining. Thank you Sugarland she is a gem!!!!

The 5 dollar moonshine tasting table was well worth the 5 dollars. The host was very entertaining and it was fun tasting the moonshines with a group of people around a table. Also you get 5 dollars off your purchase. There are quite a few tasty moonshine flavors making it hard to choose!
