About
Ripley's Haunted Adventure takes haunted houses to the next level. Live actors lurk behind every corner of this creepy renovated mansion, just waiting to "welcome" you to their home. That high pitched scream you hear...yea that's you. But remember, you must be at least 6 years old to enter, if you dare!

My wife and I recently tried out Ripleys haunted attraction for the first time and were underwhlemed with the attraction as well as the social distancing measures in the lines while we waited. The line to purchase tickets and to wait to get into the attraction was packed with people, no distancing, and not wearing mask (at least half were not) There were not visual cues to encourage distance, and no one monitoring the distance in the line. (felt very unsafe) When we got to the attraction I will say they checked our temperature and had us sanitize our hands which was good, but would have preferred that be done prior to me getting in line and waiting because if someone was febrile I would have been waiting next to them for app. 20 minutes while I waited. The attraction it self was good for kids I suppose but not quite what I wanted. It was not scary, and if anything was a bit cheesy. I won't go back and would save my money if I were you.

Went as a group of 5, my husband and I and our adult children. It seemed as though they were very understaffed. Had to get our tickets from a kiosk, one man greeted us and was clearly not excited to be at his job. He was very matter of fact and almost bossy. Not in character at all, though he was dressed the part he didn’t play one. When we entered we were greeted by the next man who did a good job at setting the scary tone but that’s about where the scary ended. There were only 2 “live” people in the whole thing. Other than that the only other jumps where from puffs of air. We kept expecting someone to be around a corner but there never was. Very disappointed. Usually Ripley’s brings their A game but this was not worth almost $20 a person. Good set up and could be so much more with interaction.

I was completely disappointed. From no on knowing what to do with the pass on your phone, which is a matter of a simple scan to the very end. There is absolutely no regard to the pandemic that is currently still going on. Everyone had to hold on to each other in a row like kindergarteners because it basically pitch black through the whole thing. So it was sweaty strangers holding on to sweaty strangers. The leader of this string of humans was a younger child and was practically running. I tripped several times just trying to keep up.
The worst part is the only actor working inside would scream in your face, So close you could feel her breath on your skin. She appeared at every corner to scream at you to not let go of the person in front of you, don't get lost in the dark.
Did the haunted house make me jump? sure a few times. However, at 51 years old and all the haunted houses I have been to in my life this is the first one I wanted to bail out of because of feeling like it was a cesspool of disease . WEAR MASK if you go, the actors do not. Sanitize when you leave, you just touched everything everyone else has. It was just gross.

Pure garbage. Avoid this one. In fact, after this visit and a visit to the Myrtle Beach location last year, I think it’s time for Ripley’s to get out of the haunted attraction business. To start, the way they make you stay together in a group is by having you hold the shoulder of the person in front of you. There are several problems with this. First, if you don’t know the people you’re grouped with, you’re touching them and/or they’re holding you. If you’re not comfortable with that, as I’m not, and dare to put your hand down off of them, prepare to be yelled at, out of character, and threatened to be kicked out of the attraction. I’ve worked in the haunted attraction business for 20 years now and I would NEVER treat my customers this way, especially for NOT touching someone. Inexcusable. This could easily be avoidable by making everyone in the group hold a rope. However, the whole constant contact with each other is nonsense anyway because of the people in the front are zipping through, you are too. Don’t bother trying to see anything you paid to see because now you’re on their pace and if you dare to let go, you get threatened with being kicked out. Let’s move on to the actors… The few that they have are either screaming in your face, which is never scary, or uninspiredly meandering out of their hiding space. The only actor who puts anything into their character was the guy in the first room… and he’s the one that threatens you with being kicked out for not holding each other. Some of the scenery is alright… I think. I can’t be sure because I wasn’t allowed to take time to see anything. As mentioned, I’ve been in the haunt industry for two decades and this haunt is everything you shouldn’t do when running a haunted attraction. It’s a classic take their money and pump them through as quick as possible attraction. Ripley’s haunts used to be great but from what I see nowadays, they’ve completely lost the script. Avoid! Avoid!! AVOID!!!

Called ahead to make sure we were going to the right location and would arrive on time to experience the attraction. The staff on the phone informed us that the attraction closed at 9pm and the address was 88 River Road. After arriving at the aquarium at 8pm and grabbing our ticket for the $10 parking fee, we were informed that the attraction was the next stoplight over, which is when we proceeded to walk half a mile down the road to reach the attraction by 830pm, only for the staff to so rudely inform us that the attraction closed at 8pm, corral us out of the area, and lock the door in our faces. This is my first time at a Ripley's attraction, and after this kind of treatment toward paying customers who already had their tickets, I would not recommend this attraction, or any other operated by "Ridley's Believe it or Not" as a company, to anyone. Your families will be disappointed, your loved ones will leave frustrated, and the only response you will receive about who to speak to regarding your concerns will be a confused and condescending look as if you should have already known that the staff was lying to you long before you ever arrived. 0 out of 10. Terrible experience.

It was me and my fiance then a group of 4. The guy at the front desk talked it up like it would be scary and talked us into buying a light (another waste of money.) There was not one time that I jumped, screamed, anything and I scare easy. There was one actual person and they threw water on us and that was it. For the most part you just walk through a dark building. Never again will I waste my money here.

Thank you for sharing your review with us. If you don't mind, we'd love to hear more about your visit at gatlinburg@ripleys.com. Our actors should be terrifying you from multiple angles, so we want to make sure this is happening.

Its basically a walk in the dark. I was more afraid of tripping over something than I was from the "frightening mannequins". Also afraid of catching Covid from the carpeted walls that you need to constantly touch to feel your way through the dark passage. Honestly couldn't wait to get through to the other side. Certainly not worth the money they charge. Perhaps it was more scary pre-Covid as apparently they had "live" people jumping out and throwing fluids at you. Now its just strobe lights and plastic skeletons.

This ‘touristy trap’ was actually worth the admission! The host that escorted us back was witty and set the tone for a fun experience. The haunted rooms were actually scary, the characters were into their roles, and the best parts were the water sprays that hit you (to mimic blood and nasty toilet water (gross but funny). These elements really made this haunted house one to remember!

Amazing! I love haunted mansions, houses, cemetery and anything else that’s haunted. Me and my wife go to 13th Gate every year and I have to give credit where credit is due. They did an awesome job of finding people’s fears and implementing them into an amazing walk of horror. One thing scares anyone is not being able to see what you hear. I’ve always said, if I can see it then I’m not scare. I think people are more scared of what they can’t see. I will be making regular visits here!!!! Thank you for stepping it up a notch and delivering.

I thought this was an amazing attraction. You are in the dark the entire time but that makes it where your imagination runs wild. Also it’s around 20 minutes I don’t think anymore. Just make sure to get a two dollar discount coupon. Even though it was a very short attraction I would do it again.
