If you are at all concerned about Covid-19, you are going to want to skip Ober Gatlinburg. The tram ride up was PACKED with people. While most did wear a mask, there were a few who had them under their nose and mouth. Up top, While they have posted “Masks required inside”, we stood behind two large families in the ticketing line and not one of them wore a mask. The line was long and slow as they only had one employee selling tickets....at 10:00 am...in the middle of October! Overall, Ober Gatlinburg is definitely showing it’s age. The tram ride is always pretty, however, the lack of concern for social distancing and mask enforcement is inexcusable. If you aren’t worried about Covid or are visiting at a slow time, the tram is probably worth it for the view. However, don’t spend any time or money at the top of the mountain!

This place is an overpriced, glorified carnival. You have to pay for parking and then when you get up to the “free” Oktoberfest, you have to pay extra to get authentic German food and see the entertainment. Their free entertainment outside was really bad live country music, not German entertainment. The beer was pretty good but the bier garden? It was just ok. Then the food. All they have is a bratwurst that I could have made at home for a better price. Not to mention the gnats inside that hovered around our food - gross. I really think they paid much more for their advertising than they did on the actual festival. We then decided to try the lift but it was undergoing maintenance and we couldn’t do that either. So we truly felt like we just wasted a bunch of time and money. All that to say I don’t recommend this place. You can get a better deal and same scene going to the carnival in town.

Let me start by saying we asked BEFORE purchasing out of concern for my my wife due to Coronavirus. When you get in line they tell you there’s only 40 people that are allowed per car. Once you get on to the loading deck they tell you there’s 50 people allowed in your car going up then they tell you when you’re coming down they allow 60 people per car and they load more than they tell you they’re going to load up and down. They say they require a mask for every person on the car up and down and the tram operators are supposed to police the masks but some people don’t wear a mask at all and some people hold them down around their neck. They are packing people in like sardines in a can with no thought or respect for peoples health. This is ridiculous and they should be made to fix this. Shut down or stop lying to people. If we had known they would’ve load that many people on a tram car we would not have bought a ticket. We ask before we bought one and were told 40 people only and then we weren’t allowed to get a refund. I spoke to a supervisor and he basically told me to pound sand.

Hello, the only reason I am writing this review and giving 5 for excellent is to say how amazing my experience was with one of your staff members in guest services - Serena. I had some issues with the individual that we are purchasing tickets from when I arrived. With that being said they advised going to guest services and trying to see if they could assist. This is when I met Serena, she not only was completely welcoming, but she was patient, understanding, and wanted to help us. I returned back to her to then tell her about a horrible experience I encountered with the operations manager "Cube" and she at any moment did not turn her back on me. Serena was extremely helpful, kind, and truly professional. This is the type of person you wish to encounter in any situation. I personally thanked her and told her that blessings should multiply for being such a kind person. Overall my experience with my sister and kids was horrible due to the fact of how we were horribly treated purchasing the tickets and then trying to get on a ride. I was belittled by "cube" and questioned basically because I was a single mom with a 3 and 4-year-old. All I was trying to do was to get the kids on rides so they could have fun. This park does not support a three-size family especially if they are under the age of 5. This part of the trip was HORRIBLE that even a random stranger came up to me and told me she overheard him screaming at me and was willing to help get my kids up to the slide so they can enjoy it. Cube was not willing to talk to me and figure out a solution instead he screamed and told me "too bad the kids will need to ride something else". I left the park after maybe one full hour of being there and now I would never return to this attraction again but I wanted to take the time to personally thank Serena for listening to me and making me feel better!
