I have participated in the wine tasting before at this facility. They aren't doing it anymore, why? I don't know......there is all types of tasting up on Parkway. If money is a issue, charge 5 bucks, that is credited to a purchase of say 3 bottles of wine.

Yeah, the woman behind the counter was seemingly very curt, almost as if she didn't care if she made a dime. After being curt with me, all she has to say is the sweet wines are on the left and dry is on the right. Wow! That was helpful. The funny thing, is we stopped there on purpose, at the end of our trip to get a bottle of muscadine wine, from THEM specifically. They aren't the only purveyors of muscadine wine. I'd hate to end our business relationship. My spouse and our locals by they way, not that we are fishing for a discount, be we believe in patronizing small business. So, don't know what is up, maybe the salesperson was in a bad mood that day.

Only one person on duty in a tiny littlle shop, no tastings available unless we waited until ALL costumers taken care of and no more in line. My wife was offered one tasting in line, took a sip, then passed it to me, then the clerk rudely snatched it out of my hand and yelled at me about how she could lose her license if I had taken a sip. No factory tours were available, From listening to the clerk chatter, I gather they are just a warehouse for wines shipped from overseas, then re-labeled by them. We did buy some wine, which we have not tasted yet, but the experience was absolutely absent

Terrible experience and damaged my new drivers license! My husband, myself and two of our friends visited this winery Jan. 13th as the first place of the day. We were met with a very rude woman with dark hair that appeared to be in her late 50’s. We had to ask her to help us several times, no one else was in the winery to delay service. She asked for our IDs which is standard. I have tape on the edge of my license to pull out of my wallet easily, the ID itself is a month old, new, and no damage to it at all. It was my birthday weekend and the ID clearly states my age 40, is valid and ID is scannable. She grabbed the ID and proceeded to scratch the tape off and damaged the front of my new ID. After she had damaged the ID, she refuses to serve us saying it’s against the TN law to take my ID. Then went on a rant about the new TN law have changed and we didn’t know. We proceeded to ask other alcohol serving establishments throughout the day if this was true since we were visiting from out of state. They said it was not a law and all establishments in area scanned or check my ID and no problem, because it’s the same ID I use everywhere including the airport regularly. I also checked the laws and found no trace of what she was saying. There are numerous reviews of the establishment on Google stating very similar experiences with winery telling customers made up laws and refusing to do tasting. This establishment needs to be educated on TN alcohol laws, how to properly ID for alcohol purchase, how to handle drivers license and not damage them. A full customer service training would benefit said employee as well. I hope this complaint will help this establishment remedy the staff misleading customers on alcohol laws, state issued IDs being damaged, and a people walking out of the business mistreated and empty handed.

Having been to every other winery in Gatlinburg over the years, I figured I would stop by this one since they claim to be Tennessee's oldest winery.

The store was very modest, and the only employee there - an older woman, I didn't catch her name - was there to greet us albeit a little curtly.

During the tastings, the lady was helpful in guiding us to what we might like the most, but she had an attitude to her. Came off very pretentious and snobby. Rudely corrected me on the pronunciation of various words (some of which she was wrong about,) and felt the need to condescendingly explain things to us when we made a comment, as well as talking trash about all the other local wineries.

Overall, the wine was okay but the customer service felt lacking. The employee was overall very negative and hampered our experience. If they didn't sell regional or specialty wines like muscadine or raspberry we wouldn't have bought anything. Somewhat pricy too.

Stop by if you like those kinds of wines, but generally not worth going out of your way.

Once again we had another great experience at Smoky Mountain Winery. Our favorite tasting hostess helped us again. A young woman came in and asked her if they had any dry reds and she said yes, we have four, and I will be with you in a bit. She was still taking care of us, talking about something new.
The woman kept pacing back and forth, and sighing really loud, trying to us to hurry. After 5 minutes of her doing that she then proceeded to walk out the door.
I really hate to inform her that the world does not revolve around her, and there are other people that matter as well.

Terrible customer service. Wine wasn’t that great. I’ve had better. The only worker was rude. She said that the owner never tasted the wine, but would smell the wine and that’s how they rate how sweet it is.
She talked down to me and my family.
She said that climate change isn’t real, when we asked about how the weather and climate has been affecting the growing season of the fruit used in the wine.

VERY unprofessional woman at the counter! I am a collector of wines and was shocked at her lack of personality. She clearly had no desire to be there and no desire to say anything about the wines.

One of my favorites things to do is to visit wineries and taste and learn and bring back the stories to my fellow wine enthusiasts, but all I can say here is, don't waste your time.

We now live locally (within 45 minutes) of Gatlinburg so it's not a great effort for us to drive down to our favorite winery and pick up a new supply. When we go we always buy a case as you get a discount.
Our favorite tasting "hostess", Stephanie is always so kind and accommodating to us when we are there. We have such wonderful conversations with her as we do our tasting. We will be back in about 2-3 months for our new supply. this visit we specifically went to buy some bottles and a glass for our Daughter-in-Law for her birthday coming up in a few weeks. thank you again for another wonderful experience.

Found this winery last year; finally ran out of their Muscadine Red; just had to make the 5-hour drive back to purchase more along with some Muscadine White. This little winery is a GEM! And Jessica is a sweetheart!! They have a small gift shop here, too but, after all, we all come here for the wine, right? And their Muscadines, my favorite, are just top notch. The place just has the feel and ambiance of a little castle perched at the top of the drive. This is a must-stop whenever we are in this area.

It was a very busy day at the winery, I was told. We were very fortunate that when arrived, there was no other customers! We thoroughly enjoyed our wine tasting here. We are sweet wine drinkers, and we bought four bottles of their sweet wines—May Wine (sweet white), Mountain Rosé, blackberry, Strawberry are amazing! Highly recommend making a pitstop win here if you are in the area!
