We came last year and I purchased an oil lantern. I love it!!! We also purchased a coffee mug for grandma, which is so cute and she enjoys using it.

We enjoyed watching someone throwing pots and the finished products are beautiful. The selection was not as large as in the past, but lots to choose from and they have some of the best stuff around in my opinion.

Lots of things to see. Lots of choices. All one of a kind but many similar enough to make a "set" of things.

I bought a bacon cooker from Alewine in 2017. It cracked this year as I was using it. I wrote to Alewine and asked if there was a warranty. I was told, of course, next time you are down, let us know and we will...More

We love Alewine Pottery. We buy at least one new piece every time we visit the Smokies. Their pottery is so unique and the quality is great!

Trip Report 6/4/09 - 6/12/09 Part 3 (7 Replies)
It came Monday morning, and while the rest of the world marched off to be loyal productive citizens, we leisurely rolled out of bed for a day of shopping, starting with a great breakfast at the Apple Valley Restaurant. Can't recollect what everyone had to eat, but it was good stuff, and their were no complaints. Service was outstanding, very attentive and just downright friendly. We sat at a big round table right in front of the glass aviary where the grandchildren were mesmerized by the...More

After yesterdays hike. My wife and I decided to take a slow relaxing day. We decided to go to the Arts and Crafts community. Visited Alewine Pottery and Linda Morrow in the Artists Attic in the Clif Dwellers building. Had a great conversation with her. Headed to downtown Gatlinburg. Had to stop by the Donut Friar for my wife's favorate: Apple Pillows. I had to stop at Ranger Bob's Trading Post for a t-shirt. We went to the Convention Center for the Arts and Craft event. Last stop was the...More

Thanks so much for all your reports which have been very interesting. I have to admit that I have also made that same statement you made at the last. My family knows that I get so much peace in the mountains. It seems like you were able to get in a lot while you were there. Linda

It's been awhile since I've posted on the forums, but I'm back now! My husband and I had planned a trip to the Smokys last October. Well that all fell through when he was in a wreck the end of September. He /was/is fine, thankfully, but we were out several thousand dollars replacing his tools that he was carrying on his trailer that was totalled. So we are back to planning our trip finally!! We'll be in the Smokys for 4 days and 3 nights. Cabins USA held our deposit, for up to 1 year, so...More

Leave Gatlinburg and head towards Sugarlands Park Ranger Station. Turn right. Just keep driving and you'll dead end (eventually) into Cades Cove. Just relax, enjoy lots of pull-offs and know that you've got around 25 miles to get there. You won't regret going!! As far as "rustic" items. Head out to the Arts and Crafts Community. I'm sure you'll find exactly what you're looking for (maybe even some things you didn't know you were looking for!) Have a wonderful trip. So glad you didn't lose...More
