We took the 8 mile hike, it was a great and challenging workout. The trails were a bit icy, so we had to be careful, the jump-out cliff was an amazing and scary view!

This was a great place to stop for pictures, but really unnecessary if you are going to Clingmans Dome.

Utterly delightful drive right through the middle of the Great Smoky Mountain range. Start in one state and arrive in another. Don't pass up the chance to take the road to Clingman's Dome. It is hard to describe and must be experienced!

You won’t miss this attraction if you’re on 441 between Gatlinburg and Cherokee, as you pass right through it. The parking lot, though large, can be full throughout the day, especially summertime and weekends. But it’s still worth stopping in for a break. Bring your...More

This is a VERY busy area for tourists, even in the winter. Most people coming to the Smokies just drive up and down Newfound Gap road and hit all the main attractions. This parking area has been full every afternoon I've gone by it regardless...More

Do not miss doing this side of the park. You hear so much on Cades Cove, but not enough on this side. To me, this drive is the best - more hardwood trees

After hiking the Chimney Tops trail, we ventured up the road and found the Newfound Gap. The views were incredible. They had different hiking options, restrooms, and viewing areas. The only downfall was there was limited parking, as we visited during spring break.

Been going here since I was a kid. Part of Great Smoky Mountains NP, this overlook gives you some of the best views of the surrounding mountains. Sometimes closed in winter because of snow.

As long as the park is open then you can drive up to Newfound Gap. Theres a TN/NC side marker for pictures. There's also restrooms.

About 45 minutes. It really depends on the traffic and how many times you stop along the way to take in the views of the mountains.
