Smoky Mountain Angler is a small but specialized fly fishing shop located in Gatlinburg. They have both a retail store and a guide service. I am a pretty advanced fly fishing guy so I did my research and went out on my own. That being said, a ten minute conversation with their staff and it was clear I would use... More

Five of us went on the guide trip with Brad and Kevin. When we got there in the morning, we got to talking, and I told them we were going to Cherokee, NC for the next 2 days. They suggested, if we wanted to catch big trout, we could drive to Cherokee (instead of fishing in the State Park, Gatlinburg)... More

We went fly fishing in the Creek at the National Park! There were 3 of us and our guide Brad. The company supplies you with certain socks and boots to use for the trip! Brad drove us from the shop to the creek! He was an amazing guide! He taught us how to fly fish and helped us lots along... More

I booked the day before on awhim and also recommendation of Trip Advisor and others in town. Was not disappointed. This was my first time stream trout fishing. I had been wanting to do it for over 20 years! Was hooked up with Brad Atwell. He was a superb guide who went the extra mile. A smart, knowledeable, patient coach for... More

While visiting the Smoky's I like to take a few ventures in the national park to fish for native brook trout, and like everywhere else, a license is required. I was directed towards The Smokey Mountain Angler in Winery Plaza just off the main street. They offer a nice collection of quality gear from flies, vests, waist packs and hats... More

This trip was for my bucket list but I also took my two sons Broc n Trey. Our guide CJ was very nice and was very informative about how to fish trout. Very patient and fun to talk to. Both myself and my two boys caught trout and we're extatic about it. Thanks to CJ our memories of trout fishing... More

There were 4 of us so we had two guides with us Brad and CJ. We split into two groups at the river, Brad was with my husband and I and CJ took our boys. Our younger son is the fisherman in our family. My husband and I have never done this before, Brad and CJ helped us with everything,... More

My wife & I have never tried fly fishing; however, we were up for the challenge! Brad had us Roll casting and catching trout within a few short minutes into our trip. It was a great experience and enjoyed getting to see parts of the park only a Guide can take you.

Had a successful morning out with Brad. He had everything we could have needed or wanted, had excellent knowledge about both the fishing and the area and made it all very easy for us. We caught quite a few fish and Brad was great with taking photos for us. He was particularly good at helping and guiding, without being patronising,... More
