Experienced rider had an awesome time
Mar 2021 • Couples
Even if you are an experienced rider this will not disappoint which can be an issue with trail riding outfits that by necessity have to be so safe that one often has a Snooze ride. My husband and I were in the area for our 1 st anniversary 30 years ago and decided to come back to Gatlinburg this year. This was a fantastic mountain ride . We did 1 &1/2 hours and lucked out because it was just the 2 of us and our guide Dalton was super nice. It was far from a boring ride . Saw some wilde turkey and amazing views , narrow , steep trails & stream crossings . Really super ride. Spring is perfect time - not to hot , not to cold & no bugs .

Great experience but...
Nov 2019 • Couples
We decided to do a trail ride while here for our anniversary. This was a great experience from the check in, to the guide, to the trails, to the photographer... Except for the old jackass that was helping us mount the horses that made an insensitive body shaming comment that hurt my feelings and caused another in our group to decide not to ride. He’s no hunk of masculine Adonis either... better to keep his big mouth shut.

Anniversary Trip
Oct 2019
My husband and I came here to celebrate our anniversary and were not disappointed! The guided tour provided gorgeous views of wooded areas, streams, uphill and downhill during the trail. It was so much fun! Can’t wait to return!

Family Horse Back Riding
Sep 2019 • Family
We decided to go horse back riding on our trip to Gatlinburg. We chose Smoky Mountain Riding Stables. Getting there was easy seeing that it is off a main road. Staff was very friendly. They brought a horse out and put our 7 year old that was unsure of riding so he can get on it and see if he liked it. Once we all got on a horse the guide had control of our 7 year olds horse the entire time while on the trail. Nice scenery while on the trial. We did a 45 min ride. It was perfect amount of time for our family. Would recommend this to anyone that would be interested especially if they never been. This was our first time going horse back riding.

Weekend get away
Sep 2019 • Family
My husband and I and our 15 year old have never been on horses before. I was a little nervous about it. I’m so glad we came here. The employees were super friendly! We had a great tour guide, Berrick. He was chatty but not overly. The horses were great! Our 3 were Little Red, Kong and Tank. My daughters horse wanted to eat but a little nudge and he was back on track lol. The horses were gentle and very smart. We would come back! Good price!!!

Fun for the family
Aug 2019 • Family
This made our first day in Gatlinburg a great one! My whole family love every bit of the 45 min ride we had. My daughter was so excited to ride a horse and it really made her whole vacation!! They really made everything easy for everyone to enjoy the trail. I was ready hoping to see a bear but it didn’t happen for me. We did see a lot of turkey though! Would definitely recommend doing this even if you haven’t ridden before!!!!

One of a kind experience for our family!
Aug 2019
Our family had such a wonderful time riding horses together in the Smoky Mountains! We arrived on a Thursday morning about 9:30 and there was already a large group scheduled ahead of us, so we had about a 45 minute wait since it was a family of 16 ahead of us. Just go when they open and you will be fine. We used the wait time to go back to our cabin (only 3 miles away) and change into pants instead of shorts and we are glad we did. They don't allow you to bring any type of bag, purse, backpack, fannypack, etc when riding and for good reason - you need to focus on your horse. There are certain things you have to help your horse with sometimes - like making sure it doesn't get too close to the horse in front of you or too far behind. This is easy, but it requires you to be a little involved. You CAN bring your phone to take pics, but that's at your own risk and only if you can fit it in your front pocket. Do not put anything in your back pocket; it will fall out while riding. My husband brought his phone, but truthfully didn't get any good pics. They have a photographer and take about 20 or so photos of you on the ride and you can purchase them after. Which we did! They turned out great! You do get to see all of them before making a decision.

The ride itself was fantastic! Our guide called himself "Sunshine" and he was really great! It was just our guide and my family of 5 on the trail together. They don't make you wait for enough people to head out. If they have a guide ready and enough horses they will take your group out alone, it seems. That was really special to just be on the trail with my hubby and kiddos. My 12 year daughter said this was her dream come true. My 9 year old is a little guy for his age and they let him be right behind the guide, who used a lead rope to keep my son close. My 15 year old son had a great time too! The trail was nice and long, but not too long. We got to see a bear about 30 or so feet off in the woods. We were tickled! We saw some wild turkeys as well. The entire trail ride was peaceful shaded in the woods, you cross several streams which is a blast. This was one of the highlights of our time in Gatlinburg!

Great morning ride
Jul 2019 • Family
The young woman working in the small office/check-in area is very helpful. She answered all of my questions and recommended things to do with my youngest child while the older kids were riding with their dad. My husband and older kids took a nice 45 minute ride on the trails to kick off our Gatlinburg vacation on our first morning in town. We arrived ten minutes before opening, and we were second family in line to ride. My family was on the trails by about 9:20. My husband and kids had a really nice ride. They are still talking about their horses by name. My husband bought the photos at the end--I believe it was $25 for a CD or $30 for a USB. There is a weight max of 225 lbs to ride the horse and age minimum of 5 years old.
