We visited the Prison Museum on a dreary Friday morning, with only a few others wandering the grounds. The self-guided walking tour is well laid out and easy to follow. There are plenty of signs with more information, and you can easily spend a couple of hours here. The buildings seem to have mostly been abandoned and left as is... More

I enjoyed visiting the museum. Friendly staff members greeted us and welcomed us while handing out a brochure for the self-guided tour of the facility. I spent about an hour touring the old prison facility. There were plaques which detailed the prison grounds, and told the story of the lives of the inmates are prison staff during the duration of... This is an opportunity to see some of the infamous history of the area. This would have been a 5 except some of the exhibits could have been done better. We did enjoy the walk through and learning of the history.

I came here with my friend and her two children (2 yrs and 2 months) to tour the Prison and auto museum. The prison was so fascinating. During the winter months the prison tours are self guided, however they do give you an info book to reference. We chose to go on a sunny 40 degree day. FYI I would... More

This is a great spot to visit. Not only can you walk wherever you want at the prison you can also visit a car museum that is top rate. The people are so helpful and also you can take a leached dog with you if you want. The gift store is wonderful. Great experience. Loved it!

This is a great museum....we worth the visit and won't take you all day. If you're a photographer I'd recommend a visit as Deer Lodge itself is well worth a detour as well. Loads of great photos to be had at the museum and in town.

This is an interesting museum that gives the visitor a feel for what it was like to be in prison in the mid to latter part of the nineteenth century. There were no TVs and fitness centers in this prison! I am not sure if this museum is privately owned or owned by the city our county. But it is... More

We took the self guided tour through the old prison to step back in time. We then went on to tour the many rooms of vintage vehicles. It felt like at least one of each make and model was on site. There were other museums nearby as part of the complex, but we ran out of time and did not... More

An interesting old prison that is very well presented. Fascinating that the prisoners themselves carried out much of the construction
