We were so lucky to find a last minute spot in this private tour to white pockets. The rock formations are incredible and amazing to photograph. The sunset tour is very romantic and relaxing. Our guide Rob Wulff was very knowledgable, experienced and kind. He was so experienced and fast when 3 other vehicles were stuck in the sand in front of us on the way back, he managed to bail them all out very quick! Very impressive! On that note, if you want to visit white pockets we highly recommend to go with a guide because the driving is very demanding and self-drive is challenging. We highly recommend this tour and our guide Rob Wulffe.

After researching various tour companies to take my cousin and I to White Pocket in the Vermilion Cliffs, I am thrilled that I made Grand Staircase Discovery Tours my choice! Chris' email and phone communications were prompt and thorough; directions where to meet our guide, Jimmy, were clear. Jimmy was a wealth of knowledge and provided a wonderful walking tour of White Pocket. We took our time and took many beautiful photos. No rushing or hurrying. We were the only ones there--had the whole place to ourselves. Keeping the COVID in mind, it was just my cousin and I on the tour. Jimmy also took us to the Maze Petroglyphs after we left White Pocket and before exiting Vermilion Cliffs. White Pocket is unlike anything you will see anywhere! Highly recommend; it was the highlight of our time in the Lake Powell area.

We had 2 wonderful tours with our guide Rob to white pocket and south coyote buttes. The scenery are amazing and so unique, most important, both tours started from early afternoon to until sunset, so we had opportunity to photograph the sunset. Rob is also a photography, he took us to each photography spot with perfect lighting at right time. If you are into photography, Rob is your best guide !

HIGHLY recommend the company, and specifically our guide, Rob.
He is one of the best guides I’ve had, knowledgeable, kind, patient. He showed us specific areas in the South Coyote Buttes I would’ve missed otherwise. His knowledge has impressive breadth and depth.
I returned to Utah 2 wks later, was so sad he was unavailable since he was already booked with tours.
Overall I had a great experience with the company- fast response times, great price. In addition to lunch, AMPLE snack options and water were available!

My wife and I traveled the southwest back in May and took several guided tours in various places. This tour to White Pocket was by far the best. Outstanding in every aspect. Highly recommend this outfit

Last week we took two tours with this company: one to the Grand Staircase and one to the White Pockets. We enjoyed both despite of the bumpy road. Especially the White Pockets! wonderful place! Our guide in both trips was Rob, who is very knowledgeable of the area, attentive to the visitor’s needs and polite. Indeed an excellent guide, who obviously loves and respect nature. Highly recommend!

Willis Creek Slot Canyon hike was the highlight of the tour. But it was 10 hours long so there were several other great things we saw and did. Chris was upfront and ahead of the curve on everything. Sally's lunch was one of the best eating experiences on our seven day trip. Rob was low key but very helpful and very knowledgeable about rock layers, flora, fauna, everything. We saw Cottonwood Canyon, Kodachrome Basin, Grosvener's Arch and as time was running out he went out of his way and time to take us to the beautiful Paria movie set. If you have time, spend the money and really see this area. We are in our 60's but after walking through the normal 3 sections of the Willis Creek canyon, Rob decided we were cleared for two more, which we did and enjoyed .

Two of us took Buckskin Gulch tour with Chris and his guys. All went extremely
well just liked photos on Web site. Chris was a great guide and would do again.
Having a guide is the way to go. Stress free with the dirt roads to the trail heads
very rough. I'm over 70 and Knee replacement and the hike was not too
strenuous.

Grand Staircase Discovery Tour is a small company using a low key approach with emphasis on individual attention. They have a variety of tours to choose from which are paced according to that particular group's ability and interests.
My wife and I along with our guide, Robb Wulff made up a White Pocket tour in the Vermillion Cliffs region in early September. It's a full day starting with meeting up at 8am and ending at approximately 5pm. The drive alone to White Pocket takes approx 2 hours (each way) with a 4x4 vehicle.
White Pocket (no pass needed) area is in relative close proximity with similar features to the Wave and the North and South Coyote Buttes (passes required).
White Pocket has rock formations that are amazing and beautiful.
Robert added another level beyond the visual. His narrative complemented and enhanced the setting we were immersed in. He is soft spoken, his words are measured and articulate. He possesses a wealth of knowledge and readily shares it. He described in very interesting detail what lay before us - the geology, the flora, the microbes etc. He is also an accomplished photographer that will point out vantage points for background/foreground photos.
The White Pocket tour via Grand Staircase Discovery will not disappoint if you enjoy seeing what nature has sculpted into layers of rock that are surreal and beautiful. Having Robert as our guide delightfully amplified the White Pocket experience.
Robert is really a nice person to be around and to spend time with him in that setting was a treat.
The company is run by Sally and Chris and the entire experience was excellent. I would highly recommend to anyone that's interested in a truly unique tour!

We took their tour to White Pocket. What a fantastic day! Although you don't need a guide to visit White Pocket, we didn't want to navigate the roads ourselves, so we decided to go with Grand Staircase Discovery Tours. We were so glad that we did! Unlike many of the other tour companies in the Page/Kanab area, these guys make sure that your group isn't combined with other groups, but gets its own guide and tour. The White Pocket area is absolutely surreal and stunning, something that has to be seen to be believed. Our guide, Rob, was so knowledgeable, and gave us advice about other things we should see nearby. In addition to White Pocket, he took us to a secret area enroute, that displayed another unique, weirdly beautiful desert landscape. Also worth mentioning, the food they provided was a cut above other tours we've taken. The tour was a real highlight on our trip to the American Southwest.

Is the White Pocket something we can drive through ourselves? I don't think my husband and I are up to hiking. Thanks.

If you have driven around in similar conditions and have a high clearance 4WD and good maps, it is possible. However, this area is not visited very frequently, therefore if you get into trouble or get stuck in the sand, it might take a while to get help.

we are bringing our golden retriever, would she be allowed in any of the tours?

If we are staying in Page, where would we meet up with our guide for White Pocket?
Written July 27, 2017
Hi, Thanks for your question......We would meet at the BLM Paria Contact Station between Page, Az and Kanab, Ut.....From there, we would lead you to our place, which is just seconds away....Once here, you'd safely park your vehicle, and we'd depart for White Pocket in our 4x4

Thank you for your question..All of our tours are in the backcountry of the Grand Staircase National Monument, The Paria Canyon/Vermilion Cliffs Wilderness Area and the Vermilion Cliffs National Monument...We love Reflection Canyon, but we don't tour the Glen Canyon NRA at this point in time...Thanks for checking us out!
