Did the Horseshoe Bend Half-Day Rafting Tour down the Colorado river with Wilderness River Adventures. Was an awesome trip. Would recommend to anyone seeking an adventure down the Colorado river. This particular trip was not through rapids, and involved a large raft that accommodate 25 people. Tour guide (Kim) was excellent, very informative tour. The tour guide (Kim) went out of her way to provide great service by doing things like moving the raft into the shade when the sun was hot, and moving the raft back into the sunshine when it felt cold in the shade. She also gave us a taste of Navajo culture/language. We were allowed to bring snacks into the raft (no coolers). Snacks were also sold at the meeting place. Great way to view the Glen Canyon from the Colorado river perspective. This particular tour went 15 miles down the Colorado river to the Horseshoe Bend in the River. We also stopped to view drawings left on the canyon wall. Saw different types of birds and different rock formations thru the canyon. Would definitely do again, and recommend this to those who would like a family adventure down the river without too much excitement or risk.

Our guide was Kim Bighorse and she was phenomenal! She was knowledgeable, funny, and nice. She pointed out several cool things along our trip. Would recommend requesting her as a guide, if possible
The reason for the four stars was the surprise of having to purchase a day pass of $16 for each adult in order to go on the trip. The other drawback was the incredibly long bus ride back. At one point, we were likely driving 2 mph up the mountain. Our bus riders actually clapped when we reached the top.

This was a wonderful 2/3 day start to finish trip. Our guide was superb and his delivery light as he explained the river, dam, wildlife and geology. Calm water approx 20 person inflatable pontoon raft with 75hp outboard (and a backup motor for emergencies!!! This outfit is prepared!) . Equipment appeared will equipped and maintained that give you a feeling of security and competence. There was an orientation and the short drive to the Glen Canyon Dam for the start. It was a 15 mile trip with a nature break approx 1/2 way . A short 1/3 mile hike to see some old indian wall paintings was at this stop. We went by Horseshoe Bend, saw a lot of kayakers and fisherman and primitive campsites. They have water but bring your lunch, sunscreen and a large brim hat. At the end there was a 45 min luxury tour bus ride back to Page, AZ. I would recommend for all age groups. Boarding at the dam you had to descend a steep staircase down to the river which requires caution if you have health issues but that is the only caution but dont let this stop you from a wonderful day. I would highly recommend this tour without reservation.

We took the Horseshoe Bend Float Trip today. Our guide was excellent and extremely knowledgeable. This negative review is absolutely no reflection on her. The reason for the low rating was Wilderness River Adventures failure to adhere to their own Covid masking policies (and the CDC's in an area of high COVID transmission). Website and confirmation e-mail informed us that indoor masking by everyone was to be required. It was required for everyone to mask in their offices at check-in and on the bus ride to the rafting the trip. Different story on the way back! The driver was unmasked and no one was required to mask on a completely full bus ride of at least 45 minutes. It was extremely disappointing to see only about ½ of the riders wearing masks. I alerted the office but if you take COVID precautions seriously, I would confirm they've taken action before booking.

If you enjoy being packed on a raft like sardines with little room for movement for a few hours then this trip is for you. Also, although it was 69°- 74° out somehow we felt incredibly hot. Maybe we just aren’t used to the Arizona sun & cannot imagine doing this in the summertime.
Little kids got very restless, stepping on our toes and personal belongings because they could not sit still.
My teen son and I were done after the first 30 minutes.
On a positive note, Justin our guide was incredible. He was very knowledgeable, engaging. He was filling in so not a regular tour guide.
Bottom line, I would not recommend this trip unless they can shorten it significantly and pack on fewer passengers.

Our guide, Chris, was great and super knowledgeable. She had all kinds of information about the area, the history, and the rock formations. She made sure both sides of the boat got opportunities to take pictures of the animals and rock formations, and made the ride enjoyable and informative. When it looked like rain, she made sure to collect anything that couldn't get wet from everyone, to put it in a dry place.
My mother is not at all of fan of the water but even she enjoyed the trip. The ride was calm and you didn't really get wet at all. The tour does run even in the rain so we had a few sprinkles. Thankfully it wasn't too hot, so it was really quite enjoyable. It took about 3.5 hours, with a stop at Petroglyph Beach about 2 hours in (there are bathrooms, basically outhouses, at that stop so be sure to plan accordingly). The scenery was gorgeous and we even saw some wild horses and a big horned sheep. Totally worth it, and a must do if you're in the area.

We really enjoyed the Horse Shoe Bend trip. They are very professional and provide a great trip from beginning to end. The river and the canyon are SO BEAUTIFUL.! Our guide was great. We really enjoyed getting out at a "beach" to see petroglyphs. We also saw some wild horses at the river. We had great weather and I recommend going in late September into Oct.

Scenic, fun, informative, professional! We really enjoyed our Horseshoe Bend Rafting tour. The raft holds about 20 people total and they had 4 rafts going out at the same time. Everything was handles quick and efficient and this is the only company that allows you to go through the Federal tunnel of the Glen Canyon Dam which is cool in it of itself. Our tour guide Kim Bighorse was very friendly and informative and gave us a ton of info on the history of the river, dam and the Navajo nation.

We were on a Collette tour of the national Parks and this float trip was the highlight of our trip (beyond seeing the parks of course). They were extremely professional, the tour guide was excellent, we felt safe and witnessed a majestic easy and awe inspiring float trip down the Colorado river. Highly recommend!!

The experience of a 6.5 day trip on the lower half is unmatched. Starting with a 10 mile stunning hike down Bright Angel, then floating and taking on the rapids with camping the remainder of the week.
The guides were exceptional in skill, knowledge and navigating the social experiment of placing people out of their element at the bottom of the river- but with a joint responsibility for each other’s safety.
Jimmy was our lead, with Taylor on Paddle, Phil, Dan, Laurie and Cheyenne on Oars and Griffin on motor.
This is an intense trip that put most folks on it outside their comfort zone. The food was amazing. The cots provided outstanding rest. And the waterfall hikes and fossils found on the way showcased the best of the Grand Canyon and the Colorado River.
Cannot wait to return.

What time of day is best to do the half day Horseshoe Bend rafting trip? We are visiting in August.

We’re doing the tour in a couple of weeks (mid March). I’m unsure how to dress? Are you likely to get wet in this trip? What kind of shoes are recommended?
We always suggest guests check the forecast before coming on our trips. Average highs in March are in the mid 60s Fahrenheit. Dressing in layers is a good idea. Bring a hat and sunscreen to provide sun protection.

Is any food provided on the half day float trip or do we need to bring our own? We are booked for a trip on Tuesday.
Thanks

Can anyone tell me the actual drive time from Tusayan to Page
It takes approximately 2.5-3 hours to drive to Page from the Tusayan area.
We would like to book a floating tour in the middle of April. Would the morning tour be too chilly? Is the afternoon tour better?
Mornings in April can still be a bit chilly in the shade of the canyon walls. We suggest guests dress in layers as the days tend to warm up.

I'm worried that it will be too "boring" for my adventurous kids (age 6,8,10)... we went of a Pictured Rocks tour on Lake Superior and they were not impressed by the guide, it was a long 3 hrs. We can only afford one big adventure so I want to chose the right one. Any advice?

My boys 16 and 10 really enjoyed. The guide we had did a good job of entertaining and informing. some times float some times fast and mixing it all up. We thoroughly enjoyed it.
Page was by far our most expensive destination. Antelope Canyons and this float trip being per person costs.
You may try going to Coyote Butte as well.
