The August 13-19, 2022 trip in the “Seawolf Explorer” with 10 passengers and a crew of five was something extraordinary. We consider it among the best five trips in our long lives. We traveled approximately 250 miles, kayaking 2 hours, and hiking 2-3 hours every day. Among the wildlife we saw were Humpback whales, killer whales, sea lions, harbor seals, sea-otters, 19 bears, mountain goats, several bald eagles, puffins, and many sea birds. The total list of species that our guide Jenny put on the board was over 100 including land and sea animals, insects, plants, and mushrooms. The views were spectacular, nature is very large at Glacier Bay. The crew was extraordinary. The captain Hans did everything he could do to maximize sightings of whales, bears, other mammals and birds. The two naturalists (Jenny and Emma) had a very deep knowledge of the area’s geology, animals and plants, they were always safety conscious, extremely pleasant, and very attentive to everybody’s needs and pace. It was very important for us to have two guides on each hiking and kayaking trip. The chef Sven prepared an outstanding variety of high-quality meals. The food was excellent. The engineer Joe was very attentive to any maintenance needed and proud of the guts of the engine room and lower level of the boat. Something very pleasant was that all five crew members pitched in to give us the best possible experience, and that made the trip very special. My long conversations with Hans at the bridge, and Jenny and Emma on the hikes were something to remember. The boat accommodations were comfortable, and the system to board the kayaks worked great. The weather was 40-50 degrees and rainy, but that gave a magical aspect to the landscape until we had two days of sunshine, where we could see the snowy high peaks and part of the main ice fields. The group was diverse, pleasant and very helpful to attend any issue. I must thank Travis for sharing the photos, which took a good part of his time aboard. I will remember you all. I would recommend this trip to anybody who wants to see the best of southeast Alaska.…

Wonderful week on the boat with family exploring Glacier Bay. The crew were fabulous, the food was terrific, the accommodations were comfortable. Really enjoyed getting up close to nature in a way not possible on larger cruise ships.

Exploring Glacier Bay on the Sea Wolf raises the bar for experiencing the majesty of Alaska. The crew ensures a personalized experience for each guest and the ship itself allows for informal, intimate interactions whether hiking, paddling, birding, whale/wildlife watching or enjoying meals. You chose what works for you and the Sea Wolf team makes it happen, no matter your interests and abilities. This small ship navigates inlets, coves and small bays to bring the scenery to life. Observe glaciers by kayak and hike among icebergs at low tide. Become a student of nature, learn the history of the region and come to know influence of the native Tlingit people. Expect to be completely “off the grid” and prepare to embrace being in the moment because of it. You will not regret the time or sacrifice it may take to be lucky enough to immerse yourself in all the Sea Wolf offers.…

This was our third amazing adventure aboard the Sea Wolf. We sailed from Juneau to Gustavus with 9 of our friends. Everyday was filled with kayaking, hiking, wildlife sightings, good food and fun. The crew is great; very professional and helpful. The naturalist Monika has a depth of knowledge which she enthusiastically shared with us daily. Exceptional experience.…
