Exceptional, must-book early for NatVentures - Hoonah Bear Watching, Tongass Forest Hiking & Fishing

Natalie is exceptional as a custom tour guide for fishing in rivers with amazing views, hiking, exploring the inner forest and bear-watching based in Hoonah and the Tongass National Forest. We highly recommend booking a custom tour early (NatVendtures get booked up) from Gustavaus, a short flight (20 mins) to Hoonah will offer you an unbelievable day of nature, animals and educational context! Natalie adapts to different levels of hikers, fishing levels, brings in her local network to locate bears on the move and offers a safe, reliable day out for all the family.

Natalie took me on a trip pak rafting down the Salmon River. There were SO MANY salmon in the water I could not believe it! I have always been so captivated by fishing, but never had people in my life to teach me. Within even just the first 30 minutes we had already caught several fish. I was over the moon!
Natalie was such a wealth of knowledge, and was so patient and personable. It was so inspiring to learn in this realm from another woman. I would absolutely hands down recommend her as anyone’s fishing guide young or old, experienced or new. It was an unforgettable trip.
If I had to do it all over again, I’d level up and opt for one of her even bigger trips - getting to ride in a bush plane to spot whales and bears, and have the opportunity to fish in yet an even more remote location. WOW. Can’t wait to head back for another trip!

After several visits to Alaska we were looking for a unique and personalized fishing outing.
Natalie came highly recommended around Gustavus and from friends at Glacier Bay NP - so we didn’t hesitate to schedule with her.
Natalie’s communication was excellent in the weeks leading up to our trip and I found her personable and flexible in plans - something you don’t often see with some charters.
We were fortunate with incredible weather, a beautiful ride out to Chichagoff Island and a phenomenal day on the river catching salmon in an unbelievably beautiful part of Alaska.
Natalie was friendly and patient and when she needed to be - direct and to the point when a bear wandered a bit close to our group.
Great equipment including boots, waders, bear spray and quality rods & tackle.
A great day was had by all as Natalie directed us to a river teeming with salmon. It’s a mazing to see nature & wildlife this way including eagles, bears, sea anemones and the crazy tides in this part of the world.
Schedule for an amazing day and in full-confidence with NatVentures.

Natalie of NatVenture Tours was amazing. She was such an interesting person with so many accomplishments and a great personality. Even just hearing some of her stories on the drive out was fun. And she knows nature. Everyone that we passed on the island seemed to know her and said that she was the best fishing guide out there. They were not wrong. Natalie knew exactly which spots to hit, even when other guides said there was nothing biting. She took us past the mouth of the river where everyone else was hanging out and had us trek out to a more remote spot. She kept us safe from the bears and showed us an amazing time. There were three of us traveling together: my friend who goes fishing all the time, his 12 year old son, and me - I have probably held a fishing rod twice in my life. All of us had a blast, and wow did we catch a lot of fish. We left wishing that we had Natalie as our guide for the rest of our trip. From her knowledge, to the equipment, to the conversation, Natalie was definitely one of the highlights of our trip.

I had the opportunity and privilege to have Natalie as a guide on a fly fishing trip that I took with three of my friends. I had never been fly fishing and was clearly along because one in our group insisted, we try it. With Natalie‘s guidance and patience, I caught my first of several fish. I enjoyed the day immensely and cannot wait to go again. As my friend, the avid Fisher person called the first fish, I sat back dreading the day until I caught my first salmon then next and the next. The picture of me with just one of the many fish I caught that day is now my profile picture and I proudly show it off to anyone holds still long enough.

Natalie is an excellent guide! She takes the opportunity to get to know her guests and their outdoor experience and abilities and she caters to their specific needs. She did a great job of planning out a spectacular trip to Hoonah for us including a private plane ride over to the island for some excellent fishing and bear watching.

Getting to know my guests is really important/meaningful for me. I always say that I want my guests to feel like they are taken care of like friends/family and not just as a "customer". I am glad you felt that way too. Thank you for the feedback- I thoroughly enjoyed our day together.

Natalie is very experienced and confident guide. She knows the terrain well and helped us locate the bears on our personalized bear watch tour. She was very accommodating, respectful yet in command which is what is needed on these kind of excursions. She allowed for ample time (more than promised) for our group to enjoy the tour.
Highly recommended.

My family of 6 enjoyed an Icy Strait Point fishing excursion with Natalie and one of her guides, Ray. We arrived via cruise ship, and our time was well-spent and very enjoyable. We have done many cruise excursions through the years, and this was definitely one of the most fun and memorable. Natalie and Ray were professional, safe, and easy to work with.. Our children (16,20,23,26) had a wonderful time and we all caught salmon in a beautiful stream near Hoonah. I would choose Natalie again 100%, and I highly recommend her company and services.

Natalie was amazing! She does her homework and puts you on the fish. She has all the gear you need. She also had waders for my 12 year old son. I fished with an awesome Orvis fly rod and she also has spinning gear. You don't have to know how to fish to have a great time. My buddy never fished and completely slammed them. My son also had the time of his life. Natalie was so patient with him and was there to help. I am looking forward to getting back up there within the next year.

Nat was awesome. Very well outfitted with fishing gear and bear spray. We went to Game creek and caught out limit quickly (2hrs or so) Nat offered a few options to spend the rest of the day, hiking, site seeing, etc. our group elected to go bar hoping. We asked Nat to take us to a local place off the tourist beat. When we got there they were not open. No problem, Nat got a hold of the owner and he opened the place up for us! Great time. I’ll go back.
