We did the custom hike with Glacier Guides and had Tom as our guide. Tom was an amazing guide! Very kind, accommodating and went out of his way to make sure we had a great experience. Although the tour is roughly for 9 hours, he stayed back longer to show us the sunset over lake MacDonals. We stopped at various scenic points on the GTSR, hiked to hidden lake from logan pass, then drove by St Mary’s lake, stopped to peek at wild goose island, hiked to St Mary’s falls (did not continue to virginia falls as we were running out of time), spent some time at the Rising Sun Point, and finally on our way back stopped at a beach that Tom suggested to see a gorgeous sunset over lake MacDonalds. Tom was very helpful and kind, and a lot of fun! Loved talking about sci-fi snd fantasy books😄. I would definitely recommend a custom hike to everyone, especially first/second time visitors.

I can’t say enough great things about my experience with my trip with Glacier Guides and my guide, Todd. 2020 is a logistically complicated year for planning treks, because so much of the park is closed. Todd was able to land the permits and take us on a memorable adventure, despite all the planning challenges. I took the train from Connecticut to Montana. Glacier Guides was great about shuttling guests from their local hotel and storing their travel items during the trip- things that what would of otherwise been a pain to arrange and costly, too. Glacier Guides feeds you from the time you arrive until the time you depart. We were provided hearty lunches on our ride in and out.
We trekked in the Northwest corner of the park, around Kintla Lake and Boulder Pass - remote and beautiful. Came accross very few people. Todd made sure each person was individually taken care of. Hiking kept good pace, but he made sure no one was pushed to the point of exhaustion. They maintained a structured
program but didnt micro manage you. I trained for my trip by carrying a 35lb pack around on my local hikes about 6 weeks in advance. I packed according to the suggestions and felt I had everything I needed, and with a mix of some high quality gear, my full pack was about 35 pounds. Many folks in my group carried much heavier packs.
I was in a group of 8, including one guide, one sherpa, and 6 guests. The group dynamics worked out well, folks enjoyed eachother’s company and were all pleasant. Four of the six guests were
repeat customers of Glacier Guides, which is a huge testament. Todd and our Sherpa, Jeremy (also a seasoned guide), provided excellent service and were all around good people to spend 4 days with. Todd worked from sun up to sun down to care for guests and that was much appreciated. The meals were delicious and all the items were fresh and not processed. I had a second helping at most meals,
and there was always enough food. I felt safe hiking with the group. They modeled proper bear country practice (as well as proper leave no trace practices), and we had no issues with
any wildlife.
I would highly reccomend using Glacier Guides for your next trip and I hope to come back again.

Glacier is an amazing place- unbelievable area. With all the uncertainty of trails available (east closed, lower trails inconsistent) we opted to hire a guide to make sure we made the most of our time at the park. David with Glacier Guides did not disappoint. The 11 mile hike he selected was the perfect level intensity (2k elevation change). It was also relatively secluded so we did not feel overrun with others in the outdoors.

I highly recommend going to Glacier, and if in need of a guide service Glacier Guides does a great job for personalized experiences.

I was extremely disappointed with our guided day hike "Intro to Glacier/Avalanche Lake." Our guide, Liz, was very sweet and a pleasure to talk to; however she was brand new to working for Glacier Guides having only lived in Montana for the last 3 weeks and had minimal knowledge about the park. Based on the reviews I read prior to booking, I was expecting to learn various facts about GNP and the surrounding flora, fauna, and geology. Instead we got a hike where we walked in silence for the majority of the trip, something I easily could have done on my own. Questions that were asked were largely answered with uncertainty or "I don't know." She was also not very perceptive about the varying abilities of the group and did not once initiate water breaks or stops (aside from the restroom) along the path. A couple on our trip who were more experienced hikers decided to go off unguided on a continuation of the trail after reaching the lake; the rest of the group started following but then stopped due to the difficulty of the path. We then uncomfortably stood around for at least 15 minutes waiting for the couple to come back in the middle of this very narrow trail while other people were trying to pass us. Liz then tried to find the couple but couldn't seem to catch up to where they were. Eventually our group got tired of waiting, returned back to the lake and had to then wait an additional 30-45 minutes for the couple to return. I largely blame Glacier Guides for inappropriately and inadequately training their new guides and am sad to have wasted $240 for essentially two bagged lunches. The hike itself was beautiful and I would recommend anyone traveling to GNP to do it by themselves.

That being said, I WOULD endorse utilizing Glacier Guides if you are looking to do some rafting. We went on the scenic float with dinner the following day after our hike and had a much more pleasant experience. Our guide Ally was very knowledgeable, the scenery floating down the river was beautiful, and dinner was delicious.

Thank you very much for your review. We are sorry you did not have an ideal experience and appreciate the feed back. The intro to Glacier is a beginner hike and it is difficult when there are more advanced hikers who want to go faster and farther. We will sit down with our staff to work to avoid this situation in the future. Please call us at 406 387 5555 so we can discuss this further. Thank you for the great review on our rafting with dinner. Denny Gignoux - Owner

Glacier Guides did a phenomenal job, and Saige was a most excellent guide. She did a great job working with our group of hikers who had a wide range of physical capabilities. She taught us a lot about the area, plants, wildlife, and worked hard to make sure everyone got the most out of our trip. We are booked for another hike next week, and are very much looking forward to it. If you don’t want the hassle of driving the Going to the Sun highway, parking, packing lunches, etc., I highly recommend Glacier Guides.

We can highly recommend Glacier Guides, our guide Jen and the hike to Virginia Falls. We were based on the west side of the Park, so thought it best to have a guide introduce us to the wilder east side. When we arrived at 7:45 am, the outfitter was well prepared and organized, sending us off on time for the van ride from West Glacier to the trailhead. We were so glad that we were not driving, once we saw the steep and winding ascent on Going to the Sun Road. We felt comfortable and safe in Jen’s experienced hands. The day was nicely planned, with the hike up to Baring Falls, Saint Mary’s Falls and Virginia Falls, followed by the generous packed lunches that the outfitter had provided. Jen was an easy, informal guide who expertly fielded all sorts of questions from our group and casually shared observations throughout the day, but never intruded or delivered scripted commentary. After hiking down and the van ride back, we returned to West Glacier around 5 pm.

Our Wednesday day hike to Virginia Falls (and St. Mary Falls and Baring Falls - we should really rebrand it as Waterfall Wednesday!) is a favorite of ours, too. Thanks so much for sharing your experience with our outfit! Cheers, Courtney

Absolutely an amazing trip from start to finish! Judith helped us book our trip and answered all of questions leading up to the trip and coordinated the rentals we need for our trip. The backpacks, sleeping bags & liners, and tents were all in good condition.

Ryan, our guide, was simply amazing! He was organized, knowledgeable about GNP wildlife, wildflowers and the ecology of the area. Mostly, his positive energy set a great tone and kept morale up when our trip became challenging and when we faced personal challenges like blistering feet and hiking boots falling apart on the trail.

We did this trip as a family with our "kids" ages 23, 20, 18 and 15. Ryan carried all of the cooking equipment, most of the food and more. Not only were the meals and snacks delicious, they were plentiful too. In addition, Ryan swiftly cooked delicious meals and cleaned up meals all while continuing to share stories and educate us about GNP.

Lastly, we did not fully understand the permit process and once we became more aware on our trip, we appreciated that Glacier Guides handle that too. We felt very fortunate to get permits for Kintla Lake and Upper Kintla Lake campgrounds which were situated by the lakes and were meticulously clean. We enjoyed the alpine scenery and warm daytime temperatures for swimming in the lakes and cool temperatures at night.

Overall, highly recommend Glacier Guides and Ryan too!

Backpacking is where it all started for us, in 1983, and we love all the challenges - personal and professional - of introducing our guests to Glacier's pristine backcountry. Thank you so much for your detailed feedback! Cheers, Courtney

I want to send a giant shout out to Jeremy. My husband and I were backpacking on gunsight pass and happened to camp along with Jeremy and his tour group two of our nights. We like making friends along the trail so we spent dinners hanging out with them. On the second night when grizzlies showed up in our campground Jeremy went way above what he needed to in order to help us. He helped us quickly get our bear bags hung and even escorted us back to our tent after the bears had left. We were not a part of his tour group, but he made sure everyone at the campground was well taken care of and safe. If we are ever looking for a tour, or know anyone who is, we fully recommend Jeremy and glacier guides. (their food looked WAY better than what we had brought along, too ;))

Jeremy is a treasure, and gently guides everyone he meets along Glacier's trails, whether they're our guests or not. We're so glad to hear that he helped to make your experience at Lake Ellen Wilson safer and more enjoyable - and completely unsurprised, too. Thanks so much for letting us know about your interaction with him. Happy hiking! Courtney

Montana is one of the smaller rafting companies and it shows in their personalized service. We had Greyson as our guide for both a half day scenic and half day whitewater and he was outstanding. He connected with both the kids and the adults, to the point we requested him for our second outing. The gear is good and the process is efficient. The whitewater is the better of the tours for our family but both were fun. I recommend springing for the private tour if you have 6 or more people. For 8 people it’s a no brained to do the private tour.

We spent our first week hiking both Jackson Hole and Yellowstone and we realized that we hadn’t seen anything from the pov of the water so what a better way than a scenic float. The crew from the tour were kind and friendly - we had great guides, Butte and Elana, and we didn’t have to do anything but sit back and watch the incredible scenery pass us. Our guide was knowledgeable and fun. It was a great experience that we highly recommend with a more than reasonable price for what you’re getting. Thank you!!!
