During the warmer months, Smorgasburg is a great choice for a meal while visiting Prospect Park. As of this writing, the season is over, so the options next year have yet to be announced, but the vegan fare from Monks Meats was my favorite this year.
The only problem is that Smorgasburg is a bit too successful, with long lines and insufficient space to sit in the grassy area around which the food vendors are set up.
By arriving early and moving one's meal (not alcohol--it's not allowed!) elsewhere in the park, these problems can be minimized.

Every New Yorker needs to stop by Smorgasburg at least once. It's a welcomed culinary overload. My favorite is Carnal. Their meat is tender and delicious. It's a must do. I also hit up Wowfulls for their amazing Hong Kong egg waffles smothered in ice cream and other goodies.

Smorgasburg at Prospect Park didn't have the 100 vendors it advertises, but it certainly had at least 45-50, with food from all over the globe. There's something for everyone, including vegan, desserts, smoothies, seafood, spicy foods, finger foods, etc. It's not easy to find because there are lots of winding trails in the large park and no signs to point the way, so we had to ask several people for directions along the way. There are only a few picnic tables and benches but there's space in the center for more, which would be a great improvement. Or bring your own folding chair. It ends for the season in mid-October but there is an indoor Smorgasburg in Williamsburg/Brooklyn during the colder months.

Unless you arrive early (most vendors open at 11AM), there will be long lines for the popular choices, but even the less-popular choices are awesome.
As a vegan, my personal favorite is the Monks Meats BBQ.

We LOVE the Brooklyn smorgasbords, and when we heard that they had begun another smorgasbord on Fridays at the Oculus, we were there! Let me say, it's terrible! There are just a few of the vendors from the Brooklyn smorgasbord, and with about 2 exceptions, they are the worse vendors. The lobster nacho stand had the most overpriced, nasty lobster nachos with ground scrap lobster that had an awful taste. The gelato stand that was there had the most flavorless gelato I've ever had. Thank goodness that The Lobster Pound, the Cajun po boy stand, and the bao bun stand were there because everything else was just overpriced tourist trap food. If you want to really experience the Smorgasbord, go to the ones in Brooklyn on Saturday and Sunday, and skip this overpriced mess.

I had heard of Smorgasburg for a few years and always wanted to try it. We opted for a Sunday in Brooklyn, so Prospect Park it was ! We came hungry, and thank goodness! I was blown away with the amount of variety, cultures, and food offerings this festival puts out! The fact that a tent can serve the types of food that they sell is amazing! I tried Nordic, Asian, and even a country I cannot pronounce! I am a vegetarian and there were so many options that made me so happy! The lines were not bad . The atmosphere was friendly, and all around it was well worth the trip over on the subway!

The Smorgasbord Prospect Park is identical to the one that was under the Brooklyn bridge (Dumbo) all the food you could ever wish for , if you can take a rug or deck chair do so there’s limited seating, after all it is a park setting well worth an afternoon visit

Would I come back?
YES
Will I tell friends to take time to come here?
YES
Note: Sunday only for this location.

We ate Chinese crepes, dumplings, noodles, pizza cupcakes, ice cream sandwiches and tons of lemonade.

Pro tip: Jianbing crepes were the highlight. Absolutely delicious while not being too filling to stop you from dessert.

Many different stands with food and drinks.
Some of it a little overpriced (ice cream for $9!?!?!?!?) and few tables to sit. But good food and definitely worth a visit.

There are so many food providers at this Saturday event. You can get your usual burgers but with a twist that makes them special. There is a great selection of Asian fusion choices, lobster, oysters, shrimp dishes. You can't fail to find something you fancy. Follower up with exotic fruits, ice creams and home bakes. Good beers and cordials to help it all go down.
