About
Brooklyn Grange is the leading rooftop farming and intensive green roofing business in the US. We operate the world’s largest rooftop soil farms, located on two roofs in New York City, and grow over 50,000 lbs of organically-cultivated produce per year. In addition to growing and distributing fresh local vegetables and herbs, Brooklyn Grange also provides urban farming and green roof consulting and installation services to clients worldwide, and we partner with numerous non-profit organizations throughout New York to promote healthy and strong local communities. We hold public, ticketed tours on Wednesdays at 10am and 11:30am. We also hold a variety of food and farm workshops, farm-to-table dinners, and rooftop fitness classes. Tickets to tours and events can be purchased on our website. You must pre-register for a tour or event to visit our Brooklyn Navy Yard Farm. We hope to see you on the farm this summer!

I did the tour and it was a fascinating history of how they got started and to see fresh produce on top of a building in Brooklyn. The tour guide was very friendly and knowledgeable.

A hidden secret on top of the Old Bush Terminal Buildings in Sunset Park area. Call or refer to the website for the information on when to visit and also when you are able to bring products home.

This is not the typical NYC experience. You get to see a brilliant idea put in place and learn all about it. It is the cheapest attraction you'll see in New York (apart from the free ones) and it is totally worth the money and time. The guide is very knowledgeable and more than willing to answer your questions. Totally recommend it!

Fantastic experience: informative, engaging, inspiring. Highly recommend! Came with our 14 year old daughter and she loved it, too. Tour guide was excellent.

We did the butcher paper dinner for $100.
The experience is great, a little on the pricey side for what it is but it is unique.
It gets hot in the sun with no tent. be sure to pack a few wet ones for hand washing and a zip bag for left overs.

This is the worlds biggest rooftop soil farm, and its definitely an experience visiting it. You get fantastic views of New York, but also fascinating to see how a farm is tended and looked after

If you're in Brooklyn and near the Navy Yard, definitely check it out

Fascinating place - qiuite large "farm" planted on the roof of a large industrial building near the waterfront. They grow a variety of vegetables and the people who work here are clearly committed to what they are doing. Especially worth a visit if you are interested in organic and urban farming. Added plus - gorgeous views of Brooklyn and Manhattan from the rooftop.

If you are nearby on a Saturday, be sure to take in this attraction. It was unbelievable how many crops are grown there, and a wonderful juxtaposition with looking at sunflowers framing a distant George Washington Bridge! The produce was neatly grown and puts my garden to shame. Be sure to visit the chicken coop, too!

I had the opportunity to tour Brooklyn Grange Rooftop Farm and it was an amazing experience. Everyone should take the time to visit Brooklyn Grange and learn about the sustainable methods used, the soil composition, how and why they plant what they do and the obstacles faced operating a farm on top of a roof in a major, highly populated city. I was impressed with the operation.

This is a roof top gardening which might just become a hip things to do in the future. Understanding that space is limited in the NYC region, this brilliant idea is something to be seen with your own eyes.

Yes, a garden on top of the roof which is very unique to say the least. The space is not enough for the farm to be producing a lot of it but makes a statement that all organic produce is able to be made in a limited amount of space.

One other thing that this place has is the view of the NYC skyline. Since you are on the rooftop above other buildings, the view is amazing to have a panoramic view of the whole East side of Manhattan. They also have a coffee house on the first floor if you just wanna mellow out before/after the visit here.
