Yesterday was a highlight for my husband and I when joining Frieda on her hasidic tour of Williamsburg.
Born into that community gives Frieda the expertise to share her knowledge with us. She is friendly, personable and generous with her time answering any questions.
The added bonus was tasting some delicious pastries.
We highly recommend this tour and would be happy to join again when we next visit New York.

This is my second time doing the Boro Park food tour with Frieda. I loved it so much the first time I booked it again when my mom was in town- I learned so many new things and had an absolutely amazing time! Frieda is an absolutely lovely person and a terrific guide. She opens a window into another world, shining a sensitive and nuanced light into the culture of a very special community. The food was fantastic too- the shwarma was excellent, and the Hungarian pastries were delicious! This is a truly unique experience, and an absolute must do! Thanks so much Frieda- we will definitely be back for your Williamsburg tour!

Best walking tour ever. Frieda is a knowledgeable, intelligent and interesting tour guide, who has an insider's perspective but also the necessary distance to her subject (Hasidic Williamsburg). She will be at the same wavelength as you, while she will also demonstrate a full and affectionate understanding of the life she herself chose to leave behind. Beyond a lot of fascinating details on many aspects of Hasidic Williamsburg (way of life, architecture, social structures and issues, gastronomy etc.), she will offer you a masterclass in understanding difference as such.

We were attracted to this tour by the rave reviews on Trip Adviser, and Frieda did not disappoint. We love historical tours, food tours, walking tours; this was a combination of all three and a fascinating look into a totally unique culture right in our midst. Frieda was once a member of the community, so her insights have credibility and pathos. Don't miss it!

Frieda, who has first hand knowledge of and a sensitivity to the population of Hasidic Williamsburg is the perfect tour guide. She's lived the life of the community which she talks about, she's sensitive and also non-judgmental, she explains the Hasidic life in words one can understand, and most importantly, Frieda is just a lovely human being. You'll never forget Frieda nor this tour!

Our guide, Frieda, was excellent. She started us off by offering historic background of the Hasidic communities especially the Satmar community. We asked her all kinds of questions and she answered them with depth. Frieda has connections to the community so she gives a deep and sympathetic view. She also emphasizes the complicated clash between Hasidic life and the life of non Hasidic communities. I learned a lot on this tour and continued to research the Hasidim on my own after arriving back home. Thank you, Frieda for opening a window on the Hasidic community.

Wonderful walking tour. Frieda was knowledgeable and very open about herself and the community. We stopped for snacks at the candy store, bakery and deli, all of which Frieda treated us! The walking was not too much. Had some stops along the way. I highly recommend this tour if you have an interest in learning about a totally different way of life. I will definitely take other two urs with her.

Take this tour no matter your interest level or curiosity about Hasidim. Take it for an engaging afternoon lead by a passionate and personally-honest guide who candidly shares her first-person knowledge. Take it for a glimpse of the wisdom and the frailty of a people and a culture, with texture that can't be seen any other way. Take this tour because you'll leave with a new set of eyes.

I have always been fascinated by the Jewish culture and religion. Post WW II where else can one find such an amazing enclave where people have preserved a way of life and centuries old tradition - but in our own backyard in NY? To pave a way for folks such as myself to glimpse the way of life and create awareness about Hassidim is a great idea and a golden opportunity for someone like myself. Our tour guide Frieda Vizel was marvelous. She was someone who provided us a view from the outside in - bringing her own unique perspectives and a wealth of knowledge about the community and neighborhood. I loved her narration. My only recommendation is - wish we could speak to a Hassidic family and visit a synagogue. I know both are tough given the constraints, but would be amazing additions.
