The unexpected tour
Nov 2019
While staying in NYC we rented the apartment in Brooklyn quite close to the Cypress Hills Cemetery, but , having other priorities on our minds, couldn't find time to get acquainted with this famous historical site.
However, on the last day prior to departure for the JFK airport we decided to spend some time on the Cemetery ground.
It was quite an experience, but I doubt I'll recommend such an unusual pastime to my friends.

Get a map to visit notable graves
Sep 2018 • Couples
Beautiful, sad, peaceful, emence - it's an amazing place. Large detailed markers throughout the cemetery. Get a map to help you to navigate or ask one of the staff. They know we're everyone is buried. You have to pay respects to Jackie Robinson and his wife and Gentleman Jim Corbett too. The notable graves are marked on the map. Check their website for hours because you might be here for a while.

Long Beach is a dream, both the boardwalk and the water.
Jul 2017 • Family
Long Beach which is located past the Rockway and Far Rockaway beaches is a dream. After Hurricane Andy, which now seems to me so long ago, the boardwalk was rebuilt beautifully. It is easy to walk on, people ride their bikes there and there are easily accessible restrooms. The water is beautiful and close to the boardwalk. However, I don't suggest going into the water in the evening as it is treacherous, the water is choppy and there were a couple of drownings in the evening.

I went to Cypress Hills Cemetery. It's an older cemetery for Brooklyn
Jun 2016 • Family
I went to the Cypress Hills cemetery. There are buried many of our sages and grand rabbis where I went to pray by their tombs. It is an older cemetery and is worth seeing. But...it is a cemetery so bear that in mind for people who don't want to visit that kind of a place

This is NOT a restaurant but a renown HISTORIC National Cemetery.
Jan 2016 • Family
"Cypress Hills" (as locals call it) contains graves of brave Civil War soldiers as well as soldiers from the American Revolutionary War, Spanish–American War, Boxer Rebellian, Korean War and Vietnam War. Many gravestones are artistic remnants of renown artists. A must see to visit if in the Ridgewood/Glendale area. Please keep in mind... this is NOT a picnic ground. This is a NATIONAL burial ground dedicated to those who fought to protect American freedom. As such, any public infractions are punishable on the Federal level as some people have discovered after being prosecuted. Please be reverent.
