We did not get the Rabbi Beryl that everyone refers to here, so take that into account. If it is someone else, than I recommending avoiding this tour completely. In all honesty, it was one of the worst tours I have ever been on. Our guide was a painfully awkward speaker, very shy. He never introduced himself and never asked... More

Led by Rabbi Epstein this tour gives you a different look on NY. The tour started with the four of us on the tour telling the Rabbi about ourselves and why we were there. He then told us about the work of Lubavitcher. This was followed by a visit to a very busy synagogue. There seemed to be 100s of... More

I was afraid that touring the Hassidic community would be intimidating. Nothing could be further from the truth. Prior to the tour, as I walked along several blocks, community members stopped to wish me well and welcome me. By the time I met with my tour guide, Rabbi Beryl Epstein, I had many questions on my mind. He graciously and... More

Rabbi Beryl provides a most interesting tour of his world. We began with a short orientation at the library. Introductions were made, philosophies exchanged. We got a feel for this community and what makes it special. With his open demeaner and great sense of humor, we left understanding the basics of this group. There was no criticism of the participants,... More

I loved to see the worship spaces and the people practicing the traditional religion. I loved how informed and knowledgeable my guide was and I truly felt embraced by the community!

This was a fascinating experience, and one I enjoyed thoroughly. Any question was welcomed and answered thoughtfully, and I came away informed and for reasons I can't quite make sense of, quite inspired. A must for people visiting NY.

This proved to be a very enlightening experience. The tour of Crown Heights Lubavitch community opened my eyes and mind to a very different world. Rabbi Beryl Epstein was brilliant in explaining the history, customs and all aspects of the religion from dress to prayer. A fascinating look into a world I knew very little about, I walked away with... More
