Fascinating place. You don't hear about this part of NY's history anywhere else. The guide is SO knowledgeable and interesting. Great personal stories keep the tour alive. Not so much for little kids I would say.

My husband and I took the tour because his dad used to work at the Brooklyn Navy Yard and we wanted to learn more. This tour was fantastic! Our tour guide Cindy knew so much and made it so interesting, blending WW2 history with how the compound is being used today. She took us to spots we would never get into and spent enough time at each place answering questions. It's fantastic for anyone interested in naval history, WW2, or just what's going on in Brooklyn's waterfront.

I went on an excellent tour of Prospect Park with one of the Turnstile Tours guides. She was friendly and knowledgeable.

We had an absolutely terrific tour of Midtown food carts. Our guide, Amanda, told us all about the delicious food we were eating and the vendors who made it. We really enjoyed learning about the history of food vendors in NYC (and beyond) and their working conditions today. What made it special was that Turnstile Tours has a long working relationship with the vendors. It was clear that Amanda knew them and their work. The tour group works with the non-profit Street Vendor Project, so there is an awareness of social justice issues alongside the amazing food. The tour gave us a whole new perspective on a slice of NYC.
Bring your appetite! It's extremely filling (by evening we were still too full for dinner).

Thank you so much for joining us on the tour and sharing your experience in a review! We are delighted that you had a great time and gained a deeper appreciation for the contributions street vendors make to the life and culture of the city. Hoping to host you again in the future! Thank you so much for your interest and support.

We had a great time learning about the Brooklyn Army Terminal with Doug. What a lot of history in this place--and how great to learn how the geography and the transportation logistics determined the architecture. Overall, a very fun learning experience!

Taking a deep dive into the long history of this iconic location was absolutely fascinating. In particular, seeing up close how the city has reinvented the property as a manufacturing hub was inspiring and eye-opening. Doug was an A+ guide and anyone interested in the Army Terminal will have no regrets booking this tour.

This was my fifth tour of the Brooklyn Navy Yard, and, each time, I learn something new. The tour guides have all been extremely well-informed and open to questions from their respective groups. The history of the immense facility is fascinating and its ongoing evolution as a 21st Century industrial park, housing businesses large and small, is very interesting. I highly recommend taking a tour of the Brooklyn Navy Yard.

I've been wanting to go after seeing an article on it at atlas obscura. And I would totally recommend.

This exceptionally thoughtful approach to inviting the historical imagination on a walking tour (oral histories that give nuance, views that are beautiful in the present and made rich with the historical detail and photos provided by the tour guide, and effective use of the museum resources) made me wish that all tours were as well-informed and could land with the three generations of my family (9, 40 something, 60 something)! The tour was so inspiring that we spent another hour in the museum afterwards to learn more. This is a well-researched, well-executed tour that works for everyone from the beginner to the Navy Yard to the WWII-documentary-loving people in your life.

Amanda was an excellent guide - We were lucky to be the only ones on the tour this day. We were able to ask many questions and probably received more information than most tours. We went to 3 carts, 1 truck and 1 kiosk. All the foods were wonderful each one very different from the others. There is a big difference in the vendors we visited versus the typical "hot dog" cart people think of when visiting NYC. All the food we had was fresh and made to order. We were stuffed at the end of the tour
