We did a road trip to NY along with a couple of friends last weekend to visit her sister in Brooklyn. The park was just opposite her house and is located on a hill off 5th Ave. Apparently this park is one of New York’s hidden treasures. The park features an basketball court, outdoor pool, volleyball court and soccer area.... More

Sunset Park, after which the area of Brooklyn is named, doesn't have any outstanding features such as great lawns or fabulous planting. What it does have, though, is people in abundance. It is clearly a much used and much loved local resource which appears to be buzzing at all times of day, whether it is the Chinese ladies doing tai... More

I live a few blocks from Sunset Park and have visited the park for nearly 2 decades. It is an extremely spacious park yet not nearly as large as its neighbor, Prospect Park. On summer weekends, many families spend quality time there eating, playing, resting and people watching. There are numerous basket ball courts, a playground and a public Olympic... More

Sunset Park gets its name from the neighborhood park, it's a residential neighborhood located in South Brooklyn. From the hill at the park you can see the statue of liberty and the Manhattan skyline. There's a playground, a huge pool, basketball court and handball courts and a lot of space to have a picnic. Along Fifth Avenue you have many... More

Last Saturday we visited the Sims Municipal Recycling Facility in Brooklyn, a fascinating and educational tour led by a wonderful guide -- Eadaoin Quinn from the Facility. She handled dozens of questions from 15 very interested visitors with style, accuracy and perfect delivery. A few of many facts: Sims started in Australia in 1913 with a guy on a bike;... More

My son lives a short walk from the park, so we headed over to see the Manhattan skyline on our last day in town.....wonderful! A walk along 5th Ave on the way back to his place offered many choices for food and shopping. We loved NY!

Enjoyed experiencing New York like a true New Yorker! Nice to sit and watch children of all ages playing basketball, volleyball and other games together. Pool is massive and very refreshing, but TOO cold! Came out after 5 minutes as thought i'd get pneumonia. It's free so can't complain!

Park is dilapidated, locker rooms are untidy, very crowded, admission line was very long. Pool was freezing cold, obviously not heated, inspite of the fact the forecast temp was over 95f/38c.

Since the 1980s, Brooklyn's Chinatown, located along 8th Avenue from 42nd to 68th Street, has grown steadily and is now the largest Chinese enclave in NYC. Convenient by subway - BMT N train at 62nd St & 8th Ave - a stroll up and down 8th Ave (lucky 8) is an awesome experience. Their are countless restaurants serving a host... More
