Expensive but good.
Sep 2021 • Family
It’s expensive for what it is. This place operates on a wristband system, so you have to buy a wristband for so many hours. They only good thing unlimited rides within that time frame. However if it is busy when you go you get on less rides then if it’s not. So timing your visit is key. It’s a great place for kids and a nice escape from the city life if your visiting NYC with children like we were. Do not expect service with a smile from the staff.

My kids liked it. My wallet did not.

PROLOGUE: I apologize to those of you that used to come here as kids and are nostalgic about it, but Luna Park is a complete ripoff. The only thing saving this from a 1-star rating is that my kids had a good time and the lines were short (presumably because the exorbitant cost deters a lot of people).

REVIEW: After spending 3 days dragging our kids around NYC, we decided to take them to Coney Island for a day of fun. I didn't do my due diligence and research the prices and park policy ahead of time. So we were caught off guard with having to spend nearly $200 for our family of four (two unlimited ride wristbands for our kids, two spectator/no ride wristbands for my wife and me). Even the kid selling us our tickets commented on how expensive it is.

Our boys are 7 and 10 and not quite ready for the Cyclone or any of the other Extreme rides, so they spent the entire time riding what was essentially the same rides you'd find at a county fair. We stepped out of the park to grab a quick lunch on the boardwalk and, upon returning, half the rides they wanted to go on were shut down.

Oh, and if you want to ride the Wonder Wheel, that's not included in your ridiculous admission fee. Apparently, that's a separate park squished in between Luna Park that you have to pay extra for.

And here's the kicker...the wristband is only good for 4 hours! So if you're thinking (like we did) that we'd go in early in the day to avoid the crowds, then head back to our hotel to rest up for a bit and go back down to the park at night, that's not possible unless you want to pay for all new wristbands after your 4-hour window expires.

We had the unfortunate luck of being there during the recent heatwave and there isn't much shade at the park - aside from a handful of umbrellas - so we only made it 3 hours before we had to call it quits.

fun time!
Aug 2021
There were a group of 5 of us ranging in age from 16-69 and we all enjoyed Luna Park. We bought the 4 hour wristbands for$55 online and that was plenty of time to ride all the major rides and the 69 yo only paid $10 for the no ride option. There were fun rides that none of us had seen anywhere else and of course, the Cyclone was a must! There were also many rides for younger kids in the park. The location is so pretty and lots of food and beverage choices too. We walked the pier and the boardwalk and if you see the lady selling mangos on a stick on the beach, buy one! They were delicious!!

Rip off

It was awful. The price was way too high. My husband and I had to pay to go in even though we were going on no rides. The only good thing there was hardly anyone in the park so we could easily stay away from other people following covid rules of 6 ft. I do not recommend Luna unless you have money to burn.

Cyclone is great!!! Luna Park You Can Keep!!!!Q!
Jul 2021
Stop with the up charge of $15 just to walk onto the grounds. Thank goodness I only wanted to ride the Cyclone Rollercoaster. Seventy dollars for an adult wristband that covers only 4 hours just doesn't cut it for me. I used to be a regular here, but not anymore. If you want to exclude regulars and appeal to only tourists, you're doing a great job!!! I guess you are charging Covid-19 prices now to make up what you lost in 2020. Off to Deno's Wonderwheel land I go.

So disappointing!
Jul 2021
Having visited Luna Park once a season for the past 10 years or so, we were kind of surprised to learn when researching online that the park had now become a "wristband admission" park, supposedly to limit the amount of people there because of covid. We had the Luna Card from last season which had quite a large amount of money on it, only to learn that is was worthless. Despite numerous emails (never answered) and calls (no one knew anything) inquiring if we could somehow get credit for the money on the card, and stopping at Guest Services at the park (no help at all) we had to purchase a $75 wristband (4 hours of unlimited rides) for our special needs daughter, along with $20 "spectator" bands for my husband and myself, as we now had $205 worth of worthless credits on our Luna Card. (after 2 weeks I am STILL waiting for an email response - unacceptable.). Staff was fine, but with one attendant to load and run most of the rides, it was sometimes slow with hardly anyone on line as they had to hook everyone in, then start the ride, then unhook people. You are held hostage to buy their food and drink once inside, as you cannot bring your own in. While my daughter had a good time, my husband and I were quite disappointed in the experience leading up to our visit, which probably tainted things for us. Considering we visit Great Adventure ($36 pp unlimited rides all day , Adventureland (40 pp unlimited rides all day) and Rye Playland ($20 for rides, $10 spectator wristbands all day) I would say Coney Island is now off our annual amusement park visit list. Too expensive for what they offer, and at least 4 rides were down when we were there.

You can see this park from walking along the boardwalk. It looks like a lot of fun but it was closed at the time I was walking by it.

Been here just to see the adventure and of course for the Nathan's Famous. Is a great place for adventure, fun, and long strolls along the beach or the walkway. Many people performing street dance.

New York fun zone.
Aug 2019
Went on a day visit from holiday in Manhattan. Some rides a bit scary for the little ones but Luna Park is excellent fun for thrill seekers. Handily close to the beach as well. The surrounding area is a bit run down but other than walk through it you won’t see it.

Really enjoyed it !
Oct 2019 • Family
Took our kids here using explorer pass which meant you didn’t get on all the high thrill rides but worth it . We took the subway which was easy and only cost $3 . Bit outdated but good fun for a theme park in NYC . Beach was beautiful. Sat in Paul’s restaurant for a drink probably the worst margarita I’ve ever had ! Apart from that we got on all the rides really quickly and enjoyed our day . Probably quite overcrowded at weekends and summer but we were lucky with the weather !
